Liu Xi sat cross-legged on the giant boulder before the Ten Thousand Beast Cauldron. The blazing azure flames reflected in his eyes danced wildly, casting flickering shadows across his calm face. A faint smile tugged at his lips.
Suspended within the flames floated a bead of blood-red liquid, dazzling and lustrous, flowing with radiant brilliance like molten gems.
Two full days had passed. At last, the three main ingredients were refined—astonishingly, they had taken even longer than the seventy-odd auxiliary herbs combined.
After a brief rest to steady his spirit, Liu Xi's breathing slowed until his heart grew as calm as still water. His expression turned serene, mechanical—like a flawless alchemy machine operating without error.
He lifted his hand lightly. Dou Qi surged forth like a silent breeze. Around him, rows of jade bottles trembled in unison.
With soft cracking sounds, the seals broke. Clusters of luminous liquids and powders wrapped in azure flame floated out, surrounding him in a glowing orbit.
These essences had been tempered under flame for days, preserved in their most pristine state—ready to be fused without delay.
With a steady motion, Liu Xi pressed his palm forward. Instantly, the floating essences streamed one by one into the cauldron.
The azure flames surged upward, engulfing everything within. Inside, it was as though a vast sea of stars had ignited—over seventy auxiliary essences circling the three main cores, releasing pure waves of medicinal energy.
Liu Xi's eyes gleamed. Spiritual Power rippled outward, filling every inch of the cauldron and bathing the mixture in luminous brilliance.
Forming a hand seal, his Dou Qi flared.
"Condense!"
The flames whirled into a spinning vortex, drawing the liquids and powders closer together.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions of medicinal force collided inside, sending waves rippling through the cauldron. Each impact made the Ten Thousand Beast Cauldron tremble violently, the shockwaves strong enough to rival a full strike from a Dou Huang.
A 7th Tier peak pill—the power contained within was unimaginable.
Liu Xi frowned. Too much of the medicinal energy was being lost to collision. That would damage the pill's quality—or worse, cause failure.
He swiftly guided his Spiritual Power into the flames. The Heavenly Flame responded like water following carved channels, redirecting the flow and merging the clashing energies into harmony.
Gradually, the violent turbulence eased. Under his control, the scattered essences began to fuse, guided by the gentle flow of his Spiritual Power.
Time slipped away. Refining such a pill was a long and grueling process—the higher the rank, the more precise the tempering. Even a heartbeat of negligence could undo everything.
Closing his eyes, Liu Xi focused entirely. Threads of Spiritual Power streamed from his brow like flowing water, controlling every reaction within the cauldron with microscopic precision.
High above, Xiao Yixian floated quietly, her gentle gaze resting on Liu Xi's still form. Her perception spread across hundreds of miles—any beast that dared approach felt an instinctive chill and fled without hesitation.
Nearby, Zi Yan played idly. She tossed a pill into the air and, with a flash of purple light, darted upward to snatch it into her mouth with a delighted giggle.
Even alone, she found ways to entertain herself.
Days and nights passed in silent rhythm. The sun rose and fell. The faint scent of herbs lingered in the wind.
---
Seven days later.
The azure flames roared like a storm-tossed sea. Within, something round and gleaming faintly stirred—a pill, smooth as a dragon's eye, flickering between visibility and concealment.
The Bone Growing Blood Fusing Pill had taken form. It shimmered with faint vitality, swimming within the flames like a living creature eager to break free.
Then, with a deep boom, a crimson beam erupted from the cauldron, blasting its lid into the sky.
The pillar of light pierced the heavens. The wind howled as the air trembled. Clouds gathered from all directions, rolling like waves across the firmament.
Dark clouds layered upon one another until they swallowed the sky. Sunlight vanished beneath the shroud.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Silver lightning twisted through the clouds, thunder crashing like the roar of a raging beast.
Liu Xi looked up, awe and excitement flashing in his eyes. The thunder shook his bones, but his spirit burned with exhilaration.
This was the first time he had successfully refined a pill of such caliber.
Even so, the heavenly might pressing down from above made his heart pound. This was true power—pure, unrestrained, born of Heaven and Earth itself.
'So, this is Pill Lightning… Still within the scope of a 7th Tier pill. My Spiritual Power's essence isn't dense enough to grant it full sentience.'
In the distance, the colossal Bone Demon Ape stared blankly at the sky, its crimson pupils widening in disbelief. It glanced at the crimson pill glowing in the pillar of light, greed flaring in its eyes—only to vanish when it noticed Xiao Yixian rising gracefully into the air.
All greed fled, replaced by dread.
To provoke such a human powerhouse? That was suicide.
'A high-rank alchemist with a Dou Zun by his side… even if I begged, I'd only become a mount,' the ape thought miserably, shrinking back into the shadows.
---
Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan rose together, gazing up at the lightning-wreathed heavens. The overwhelming might in the sky pressed down like an ocean of thunder.
Xiao Yixian's aura surged, majestic and fierce. "Young Master, let me handle the Pill Lightning."
Liu Xi turned, his lips curling into a confident smile. "No need. I have my own use for it."
With her Dou Zun strength, Xiao Yixian could easily absorb the lightning. But that would waste a precious opportunity.
He waved his hand, and the Earth Demon Puppet appeared before him—its dark-silver body gleaming coldly beneath the flickering light.
Boom!
A massive bolt of silver lightning split the heavens, descending straight toward the crimson pill.
Liu Xi's mind stirred. The Earth Demon Puppet's hollow eyes flared with light, its body bursting into radiant brilliance.
With a thunderous stomp, it launched upward like a cannonball, slamming into the falling bolt.
Crash!
The impact echoed like a divine drum. The puppet staggered back several steps, its body wreathed in crackling arcs of lightning—but the force didn't fade. It seeped into its steel frame, tempering it further.
Instead of weakening, its aura only grew stronger.
It raised its head, stomped once more, and shot skyward again, meeting the second bolt of Pill Lightning head-on.
---
Far away in Qingyang City, within the Zhao Clan Manor, an elderly man in white robes suddenly opened his eyes. Sitting upon the main throne, his gentle face shifted into surprise as he turned toward the distant storm.
At the level of a Dou Zun, even the faintest fluctuation of Heaven and Earth could not escape his senses.
Then, slowly, a smile spread across his face.
"Heh… so I've finally found your trail."
