Axel stayed in the alleyway far longer than he should have.
He paced slowly from one end to the other. His boots scrapped itself against cracked concrete as his eyes kept returning to the same spots over and over again. The bloodstains. The melted floor. The marks on the wall where bodies had hit hard enough to leave dents.
Everything that happened tonight was written all over this place.
Except the sword.
He stopped near the center of the alley and rubbed his face with both hands, breathing out slowly.
'Who saw me…?'
That question kept looping in his mind over and over again.
Whoever it was had been there before the fight, that much was obvious and they didn't interrupt. They just waited and watched like it was a show and then they took the Godrend and left.
Axel also realized another key fact. Whoever it was must have also seen Dane Cornwall's body being absorbed.
They must have witnessed the corpse dissolving and vanishing like it never existed.
