Axel carried Rick all the way back to the first-year dorm complex. Rick was skinny, so his weight was not much of an issue, and with Axel's increased strength, it felt even easier.
Carrying an unconscious body across the school was unconventional, and surely against the rules. If anyone saw him, it would raise questions immediately. Luckily for Axel, it was already past 9 p.m. Most students had settled in for the night, either resting or locked away in their rooms.
Sneaking Rick inside their dorm room turned out to be far easier than Axel expected.
He gently laid Rick on his bed and watched him for a moment. Rick's breathing was slow and steady and his face was calm as if nothing had happened.
Tonight had changed everything for Axel.
Especially now that he was no longer human.
"He will remain asleep for a time," Aurora said from within him.
Axel glanced at Rick, then rested his back against the wall.
"Do demons sleep?" Axel asked suddenly.
Aurora gave a short, amused hum.
