I already knew Rodrique wanted to speak to me alone, so I told Reece to get into the limousine first. When I turned back to him, he didn't waste time on pleasantries.
"Ma'am, the police went to the hotel where Mr. Kingston was staying."
The sound hit my chest like a hammer slamming down. My blood pressure spiked as my heartbeat thundered in my ears.
"How… why so fast? And do they know Rafael is at my house?"
"Fortunately, no. But they know where Rafael works, so that they may come here tomorrow."
"What… no…" My heart raced. I stumbled, losing my balance, and grabbed onto the side of the limousine.
"That's why Mr. Kingston is heading to the police station right now to face the case. He doesn't want chaos here or at your home."
My knees weakened. Of course, I didn't want any disturbance at the house or the orphanage. I couldn't let the children see Rafael dragged away by the police.
