Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Sweep Moment of Charm

"Round one, battle start!"

Inside the mysterious light screen, a duel was being broadcasted—though it was less of a duel and more like a real combat showcase for new ninjas.

At least, for those watching, the six ninjas appearing were all ones that didn't exist in the current version of the game.

First of all, the first slot under Guy's team was—himself.

This was, after all, the [Might Guy]! Of course he'd be the one to go up first.

And Lee's choice was...

"Hm? Haku? Isn't that you?"

"Yes, Zabuza-sama."

On the street of an unknown small country, Zabuza looked slightly surprised when he saw Haku appear on the light screen.

Haku was equally caught off guard—he hadn't expected to be sent into battle, let alone controlled by someone else.

But... he was happy!

"Zabuza-sama, if I'm in the game, that means you'll definitely be too!"

"Hmph! Whatever!"

Zabuza said this with a snort, but inwardly he thought—there's no way he'd rank lower than that Hatake Kakashi. At the very least, he should be an A-rank ninja, right?

No—better yet, he should get a special edition intel meeting episode like that green watermelon-headed freak!

Noticing people around pointing at Haku as if recognizing him, Zabuza wrapped an arm around Haku, and with a flicker, both of them vanished from the street...

...

"I'm going in, Guy-sensei!"

"Lee! During battle, you don't need to call out... huh? Your ninja's attack is ranged?"

Inside the arena, [Might Guy] was being pelted by [Haku]'s attacks—but surprisingly, Haku's continuous barrage of senbon never seemed to stop.

A ranged normal attack? Many people instantly noticed. Otherwise, how could he be spamming skills nonstop?

But some thought of [Tenten]—the only ninja among the ten free Konoha Genin whose normal attack was ranged.

"I'm coming, Lee!"

Guy stopped holding back, immediately launching his combo—an armored opener leading into a skill chain.

So fast? He's getting serious already?! Guy-sensei!

Lee grew nervous, watching the [Might Guy] cloaked in white light charge toward him. He panicked and tapped a skill.

[Haku] leapt back and hurled a cluster of ice spikes forward. Though it hit [Might Guy], it didn't stop his advance.

As the distance closed, Lee used his first skill again.

Whether out of panic or deliberate control, he immediately followed the skill with a normal attack.

"Secret Art: Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death!"

[Haku] created sharp ice pillars and dove into a mirror of ice that appeared in front of him, reemerging from another mirror behind [Might Guy].

At that exact moment, [Might Guy] kicked forward—only to hit nothing but air.

Huh? What's that?!

The spectators gasped. Moving inside ice mirrors?

"Oh? Lee actually followed his skill with a normal attack, using the ice mirror created to reposition—perfectly dodging Guy's strike!" Kuroda's voice came in right on time with commentary.

Only then did everyone realize—so that's how it works? A skill and normal attack combo?

Nice one, Lee!

Guy silently praised him as well. Lee's unexpected maneuver successfully stalled for time until Guy's armored state ended.

Now then...

"Ha!"

[Might Guy] swung his fist, startling Lee into releasing a Ghost Lantern in panic.

But when [Might Guy] didn't close the distance and just stood there attacking in place, Lee realized he'd been tricked.

[Might Guy] then ran toward [Haku]. Lee hesitated—no skills left. Should he summon?

What would Guy-sensei do?

Guy did... nothing!

As [Might Guy] closed in, he didn't attack—just watched [Haku] from across the Y-axis.

Lee instantly understood. Guy-sensei was waiting for the Ghost Lantern to explode! And he'd even adjusted his X-axis to avoid it.

At this distance...

Lee gritted his teeth, lowering his finger from the summon button. He knew [Might Guy]'s first skill—just a sweeping kick in place, it wouldn't reach him.

"Too naive, Lee!"

Guy suddenly roared—and as the Ghost Lantern exploded, the sound was followed by the mighty Konoha Whirlwind!

Bang bang bang—!

[Might Guy] spun low to the ground, sweeping his legs as he moved forward, sending [Haku] flying!

"What?!" Lee was stunned.

That skill could move while releasing?! It only covered a short distance, but it hit perfectly!

Seeing his skills refresh, Lee quickly used Substitution Jutsu, planning to counterattack during invincibility.

[Might Guy] immediately crouched and summoned the Toad Couple, who started croaking noisily.

Lee had no choice but to summon as well—also a toad. As expected of master and disciple!

At that moment, many watching shook their heads—they already knew how the first round would end.

Sure enough!

Although Lee summoned later, Guy still had his Substitution ready.

After avoiding the summon damage with it, [Might Guy]'s skills slammed down on [Haku].

As one damage number after another appeared, [Haku]'s HP plummeted rapidly.

"That guy! What kind of gameplay is this?!"

"No helping it... after all, that's a high-tier A-rank ninja. I'm probably just a C-rank..."

At an inn later, Zabuza and Haku kept watching the duel, but seeing [Haku] getting pummeled on screen, Zabuza couldn't help but feel annoyed.

"So, do you even know what 'high-tier' means?" Zabuza asked flatly.

That left Haku silent.

Not just Haku—probably no one in the entire shinobi world knew yet. They'd have to wait until the official launch tomorrow.

Bang! (Substitution Jutsu SFX)

[Haku] substituted and launched his first skill, knocking [Might Guy] into the air, then followed up with a second skill.

But because [Haku] leapt back during the second skill, and had knocked [Might Guy] too far, his normal attack couldn't connect.

"It's over!" Lee's heart sank.

"Lee! I get that you want to deal damage quickly, but overcommitting... works like this!" Guy shouted, his voice booming with spirit.

Morning Peacock!!!

[Might Guy] jumped into the air and unleashed a storm of blazing punches, fireballs raining down in a frenzy.

Everyone watching was dumbfounded.

Wait—he's using his ultimate already? That HP isn't even low enough for a finisher! Was that... a misclick?

At this moment, only Kuroda and Lee truly understood what Guy was doing.

Ultimate... Damage Infusion!

Why did Guy dare to cast his ultimate—especially when there was still a gap between the two ninjas?

Of course, because he could chain it into a skill!

Even as his ultimate ran, Guy was already holding down the direction key and his first skill.

And the instant the ultimate ended, [Might Guy] took a few steps forward—just as [Haku] landed.

Everyone thought Guy had made a fatal mistake... until their eyes went wide in shock the next second.

As soon as [Might Guy] touched the ground, he instantly used his first skill—a sweeping leg spin that caught [Haku] flat on the floor and sent him flying again!

Perfection!

That's the sweeping mechanic in action!

Kuroda could practically feel everyone's shock, but to him, it felt completely normal.

After all...

You guys haven't even seen a first-A-rank ninja who can sweep the floor yet! Now that's what you call—the Sweep Moment of Charm!
