Alyssa approached from the side. She was covered in dust, but she appeared unharmed.
Her eyes shifted toward the massive body lying in the middle of the ruined room, and for the first time, her expression showed clear unease.
"What the hell is that thing?"
"We don't know," Jaxon replied, his expression turning grim. "But it's the flying infected we told you about earlier."
"There could be more outside. Stay quiet and look through the windows. Don't expose yourselves."
The group carefully moved toward the nearest windows and openings. They kept their heads low, peeking outside.
Then, a shadow passed across the sky.
Everyone froze.
Another dark shape glided past the broken opening, followed by a second one farther away. Their massive wings briefly blocked the moonlight before disappearing into the darkness.
Cindy's eyes widened.
"Brother..." she whispered. "There are more of them outside."
As if confirming her words, several inhuman roars echoed through the city.
