Chapter 6 - Word Alliance Summer Academy 2 ?

Though Dion had no reason to hesitate he still thought 'should I really?'

'Could this be a kidnapping scheme?'

Within milliseconds, thoughts were rampaging in his head

'The paper was signed by the governor; it wouldn't be fake…'

Dion opened his mouth and said 'Do you know anything about my family?'

He noticed the subtle change in the expression of the guildmaster once he mentioned his last name

The guildmaster pondered before saying 'Do you really not know?'

'No, I must've been pretty young the last time I saw them.'

The guildmaster stared at him, 'They are all dead.'

Dion pretended to be shaken; his eyes were wide open in astonishment; his mouth was ajar for only a second before he closed it back.

'They are dead?'

'When can I register for the academy?'

He said it with an expression of determination, a look that gave off the vibe of a youth on his way to redeem the prestige of his family!

The guildmaster shook his head and smiled,' A room will be arranged for you, someone will be picking you up tomorrow morning.'

'That was quick,' Dion thought

He bowed slightly and said 'Thank you'

The guildmaster called an attendant to arrange an inn for Dion to stay till the next morning.

As he walked out of the chamber, the attendant looked at him and asked genuinely 'you don't have to do it you know… did you really think about it?' She asked as they walked towards a staircase

'I did' Dion replied.

'It's unfortunate that I know someone I've just met is walking into his own death.

I once thought there was hope, just like you. We all did, after all.'

Dion listened without uttering a word. Though he seemed dull, he gave off a comfortable aura.

'My brother was talented, we thought he would make a name for our family. But even with all the talent, all the nurturing. All we received were his ashes.' She looked down as tears dropped to the ground.

Dion was shocked at the sudden change, he didn't know how to console anyone. He stopped walking and looked at the attendant.

She looked back at him with red, teary eyes as she stopped walking.

'This life is finite, yet people still strive, even when knowing the end lies just ahead. What is the point of living if one thinks only of death? If I am to die at all, I will die striving for what I love most, for those I hold dearest, and for the goal I want to achieve. Only then can I die without a single regret.'

Her eyes widened; she couldn't believe someone as young as he could construct literature like this without taking any time.

The last of her tears fell, she straightened her back, wiped her face clean, and said, 'Thank you.' She could feel herself rejuvenating; her long, brown hair, which had looked stiff, now showed signs of flowing freely. Her movements didn't seem awkward anymore; she felt a passion she had never felt before.

Dion watched her walk ahead of him, leading the way to the stairs, while he quietly walked behind. As they walked down, the people kept staring, out of curiosity, discontent, and pride

'What could he have done to visit the upper floor?' They scowled.

He sat at a corner right across the attendant's counter as she made a few calls.

Not even a moment later, as Dion subconsciously scanned the environment, he noticed a group of people standing from their seats, their body gestures clearly showed they were coming his way.

It was a group of 3 men and 2 women. The men wore linen tops with pants, tunics, and robes, while the women wore dresses that clung to their bodies while also allowing them to be free.

The man leading them sat on a chair right across Dion on the same table, while the others stood around him

'I noticed you're new around here, just so you know, I'm the one they call the warrior,' He stretched out his arm and smiled.

Dion looked at his stretched arm before looking back at him with an unbothered expression

'ok'

The man's eyes twitched.

At this moment, the guild attendant came up to Dion

'The room has been prepared; I'll be the one to take you there.'
