"I accept. It's a choice that suits me perfectly. I am willing to dedicate the rest of my life to this," Pamela said. Thea's words had given her hope again.
"I don't need the rest of your life. My missions won't be frequent. You will gain the power to take revenge, and the rest of the time is yours. You can continue gardening or planting flowers or whatever..."
Thea was very satisfied with her attitude; this woman was much more straightforward than Deathstroke. With a tap of her finger, the Yellow Ring flew in front of Pamela, emitting a faint glow.
Reaching out, Pamela took the ring and placed it on her middle finger. A halo of pale yellow light instantly enveloped her.
Thea casually cast a concealment spell. The teaching session with Damian had ended for the night, meaning Batman would definitely be prowling around. Plus, Barbara's Birds of Prey were also wandering the city. To prevent them from asking too many questions, it was better to avoid them.
The energy of the Replica Ring was certainly inferior to the genuine article, and the modification would take several times longer. Pamela was bathed in the yellow halo; although the body modification was slow, it proceeded in an orderly fashion. Thea felt assured enough to go to the roof and absorb moonlight.
This modification lasted for more than four hours. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning that Pamela's transformation was finally completed.
Thea checked her abilities through her own ring. Most of the emotional power had been used by Pamela to restore her human form. Her originally green skin had become normal again—well, it looked normal. The transformation of her life form was irreversible; the ring's energy only restored her skin color. Aside from her lips and eyes, which still carried a hint of green, the rest of her body looked like it had returned to a normal complexion.
The only ability Pamela gained from the Yellow Ring was the power to summon plants from anywhere on Earth. These plants had to be species she understood or had even cultivated herself. Theoretically, if she found some high-power alien plants and transplanted them to Earth to cultivate for a while, she could summon them too.
This summoning ability seemed inconspicuous, but it effectively patched the shortcomings of the original Poison Ivy. Her old weakness—having her combat effectiveness depend on the environment—was greatly reduced.
Thea left her a message, telling her she could take revenge as she pleased, but not to slaughter the innocent. After that, Thea left Earth, flying toward the planet where she had dropped off Grodd. Deathstroke had already found the location of the Shark God. To be safe, Thea felt she still needed to bring along Grodd, a powerful combatant.
When the time came—Deadman, Grodd, Deathstroke, Poison Ivy, plus Thea—a five-man team pushing a Hawaiian native god who had been taken down by just a dozen agents in the original story... it shouldn't be a problem, right?
Finding Grodd again, Thea saw that this guy had grown even larger, going from two meters to three meters tall. The violent aura from before had completely disappeared. He was lying comfortably on a large rock, with several indigenous aliens—who had evolved from insects—fanning him with large leaves.
Thea casually took a banana from her spatial ring and threw it without looking.
Splat! It smashed right into Grodd's face.
"Grodd hates bananas..." The gorilla had clearly developed a conditioned reflex from her habit of throwing things at him. Seeing the banana, he knew she had arrived. His deep, muffled voice resonated in Thea's mind.
"How is it? Having fun here?" With the gift from the Martian Manhunter, Thea's telepathic abilities had transitioned from a rough style to a refined one. The basic function of mental transmission was no longer as strenuous as before.
"These guys have too low an IQ!" Grodd looked at the primitives fanning him with disdain.
Thea looked around. The natives indeed couldn't figure out how to serve this god of slaughter who had fallen from the sky. Fortunately, Grodd's hostility had worn off quickly, and he had slowly accepted their submission. These guys racked their brains to please Grodd, but unfortunately their intelligence was too low. It was always the same few tricks, and Grodd was bored out of his mind.
"Let's go. I'll take you to a highly civilized planet. You will gain even greater power." Thea had confidence in Grodd. After all, he was a famous villain in the original timeline. No matter how high Sinestro's standards were, Grodd would be able to move him.
Sinestro had been making frequent moves recently, secretly accumulating strength. He had already left Oa and returned to his home planet, Korugar.
First, Thea released the Elk from her spatial ring to meet Grodd. The two sentient animals actually hit it off. Both were Earth species and both had telepathic abilities, which gave them a good initial impression of each other.
Then, amidst the ecstatic gazes of the indigenous aliens, Thea put Grodd into the spatial ring, flew into space, opened a wormhole, and headed into the depths of the universe.
...
"Welcome to Korugar. What is your impression of my kingdom?"
Sinestro was in high spirits. He had already swapped out the Green Lantern uniform he had worn for years and was unashamedly meeting people in his Yellow Lantern identity.
This guy has walked down this path after all... Thea knew her little butterfly wings couldn't affect such a distant part of the universe. Sinestro hadn't been stripped of his Green Lantern ring yet, but parting ways with the Green Lantern Corps was imminent. Her role in this was merely a matter of influencing when it happened.
"A very nice place. Are you enforcing your 'Order' here?" Thea's gaze swept over the crowd. Sinestro was relying on his powerful willpower to master the ring, using its power to maintain the planet's security, monitoring everyone's actions and heartbeats. He wanted to give his people an ideal world, but the reality was that his people feared him—dreaded him. His Yellow Ring energy grew every day, and even Thea's ring energy rose significantly along with it.
"Perfect order is the bedrock of a stable life for the people," Sinestro said proudly.
Thea didn't bother to point out the crucial flaw in this. Whether he knew or didn't know was irrelevant to her; naturally, his nemesis Hal Jordan would deal with him. When Sinestro eventually fell, the two homologous rings would merge into one, and the beneficiary would be Thea. She didn't want to waste breath during this critical time of his rebellion.
"I've recruited a new subordinate. Please give him some pointers." Thea skipped over the issue of governance and discussed the purpose of her trip. This was something they had agreed upon earlier; Thea had three recruitment slots.
"Anyone who catches your eye must be... What is... What is this?" Sinestro stopped halfway through his sentence, startled by Grodd, who had just been released from the spatial ring.
There were many strange creatures in the universe, some a hundred times weirder than Grodd. But Sinestro had recently crammed a lot of Earth biology knowledge. He suspected he was seeing things, so he used the ring's identification function to scan again.
Holy crap!! A genuine Gorilla! Classified as a primate mammal in Earth's biology.
Sinestro's face turned dark. He pointed at Grodd and said to Thea, "This guy is your newly recruited subordinate? Are you kidding me? Last time you brought a dead man, and this time it's straight-up an animal! If you don't give me a reasonable explanation, I will absolutely not agree to this!"
