The villagers looked at the busy figures of the Konoha Military Police Force members and, for the first time, gave them a thumbs up.
Who said all Konoha Military Police Force members were jerks?
They are all good people.
You and I, heart to heart, live together in Konoha.
Fueled by anger, the members of the Police Force unleashed unprecedented potential.
After they finished dismantling, they found some small items from under the floor, in wall cracks, and inside bench legs. It wasn't a wasted trip.
Time to go back and write reports.
News of Danzo's house being dismantled quickly spread throughout Konoha.
At Koharu's house, Homura was drinking tea.
Koharu's voice was dry, making it impossible to tell if she was stating a fact or sighing. "Danzo's house was dismantled."
"Ah?" Homura put down his teacup, his brows furrowed. "What happened?"
Koharu didn't speak, she just silently pushed a thick stack of files in front of him.
Homura unrolled the scroll, his gaze sweeping over lines of small print. The more he read, the more his head ached.
Why was Danzo behind everything?
How big of a head could bear such a huge burden?
As the Advisors of Konoha, the right-hand men of the Hokage, they naturally knew that Danzo was by no means a good person. They were well aware of the darkness buried deep within Root, and the messes that they and Hiruzen had to clean up together.
Therefore, Homura and Koharu confirmed that some of the incidents recorded in the files were indeed inseparable from Danzo.
But... this was too much.
It was almost as if Hizashi sacrificing himself for his brother was also attributed to Danzo colluding with external enemies to force his death.
"Truly the inherently evil Uchiha clan, what exactly do these bastards want to do?"
Just then, a slow but exceptionally clear knocking sound echoed.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Coming."
Koharu slowly went to open the door.
Pulling open the wooden door, the scene outside made her face instantly turn even uglier.
Leading them was a strikingly handsome white-haired man. Behind him stood several Uchiha in Police Force uniforms.
Koharu asked, "What are you doing here?"
Satoshi said, "Konoha Investigation Department. Advisor Koharu, we now have sufficient reason to suspect that you have a significant connection to the accidental death of Uchiha Kagami years ago. Please come with us and cooperate with the investigation."
Koharu almost fainted from anger. How many years had it been since Kagami's death?
How could that still be brought up for questioning?
Are you Uchiha lunatics bored?
Koharu rebuked, "Don't slander us. We and Kagami were dearest friends, like brothers and sisters. His sacrifice back then was a loss for all of Konoha. You are slandering us."
"Yes, yes, you're right."
Satoshi waved his hand, and Inaho and Tekka stepped forward, ready to escort Koharu away.
At that moment, a sigh came from inside the house.
"Satoshi, aren't you reaching a bit too far?"
Homura slowly walked to the doorway, stood beside Koharu, and looked directly at Satoshi with sharp eyes.
"Aren't you reaching a bit too far? You are not authorized to investigate us at your level, especially not decades-old matters."
Satoshi was stunned for a moment, then he laughed. "Perfect, you might as well come along too, saves us another trip."
Homura: ?
Homura and Koharu were locked in an interrogation room.
A pale light hung overhead.
The expected harsh interrogation did not come.
Time ticked by, and only a deadly silence spread silently. This unknown waiting was more tormenting than direct torture.
After an unknown amount of time, the small window on the iron door was pulled open.
Inaho's indifferent face appeared in the window, and he expressionlessly threw in two notebooks marked 'Self-Incriminating Materials' and two pens.
"Write."
Homura's eyes widened in anger. As a dignified Hokage Advisor, when had he ever suffered such an insult?
"Bastard! This is illegal detention! This is using public office for private revenge! I want to see the Hokage!"
Inaho coldly glanced at him through the small window. "Then tell me, what private grudge do we have?"
"This..."
Homura was instantly silenced, and at the same time, he felt that the Uchiha were indeed not very smart.
Who would openly display a private grudge? Anyone with an IQ above two wouldn't do something like that.
"If you don't have one, why are you talking nonsense? Hurry up and write, you're not allowed to leave until you're done."
After speaking, Inaho left the interrogation room, leaving the two old comrades staring at each other.
Why? Why were these people treating them like this?
What did Kagami's death have to do with them?
You should be looking for Danzo about this.
Huh?
Why did they instinctively shift the blame to Danzo again?
Perhaps that's just how it is when you have too many fleas to care.
Suddenly, Homura chuckled. "Youngsters, still too young indeed."
Koharu glared at him. "At a time like this, you can still laugh?"
"You've forgotten, when Tobirama-sensei interrogated enemy spies back then, you and I were both there watching. Didn't he always separate them first to prevent collusion?"
At this, Koharu nodded thoughtfully. "You're right, it seems this kid still lacks experience."
Hope rekindled for the two of them. By locking them together, wasn't he giving them an opportunity to conspire?
As long as their written statements were consistent, what fault could he find?
Once the time was up and there wasn't enough evidence, wouldn't he have to release them obediently?
As soon as they got out, they would immediately go to see Hiruzen.
They would accuse the Police Force of abusing its authority, illegally detaining Advisors, and attempting to subvert Konoha's high-ranking officials.
This time, even if Hiruzen was as soft as ever, he definitely wouldn't be able to sit still.
They might even be able to seize this opportunity to reclaim the power that had been taken by the Uchiha.
The two of them, as if finding a magic weapon to overcome their predicament, began to discuss the details of their self-incriminating materials in hushed tones, striving for flawlessness.
Homura and Koharu's plans were excellent, and things really did seem to be developing in the direction they expected.
Three days later, the iron door opened again, and Inaho stood expressionlessly at the doorway.
"Time's up. Leave the materials. You may go."
Homura and Koharu exchanged a knowing glance, a cold sneer unsuppressibly appearing at the corners of their lips.
Foolish Uchiha, no matter how powerful the Sharingan, it cannot compensate for the lack of wisdom.
No wonder Tobirama-sensei was able to firmly suppress the Uchiha clan in the Konoha Military Police Force position back then, manipulating them at will.
The two adjusted their clothes and walked out of the gloomy interrogation room with their heads held high and chests puffed out.
But happy times are always short-lived.
No sooner had they stepped out of the interrogation room door than a cold voice sounded again.
"Stop."
Homura and Koharu's bodies instantly stiffened, and they turned back in disbelief.
Inaho still stood there, like an emotionless stone statue.
"According to the latest intel, you two are suspected of being connected to a major case seventeen years ago involving a spy infiltrating Konoha and causing the leakage of confidential information. Please cooperate with the investigation again."
"What? What does that have to do with us? You're framing us!"
Inaho turned a deaf ear to their protests, simply pushing the two roughly back into that familiar interrogation room.
The heavy iron door closed once more.
Additionally, Inaho kindly reminded them, "Oh, right. You two esteemed Advisors are of noble status, so please take care of yourselves."
"This interrogation room is simple, and it is safe. But in case and I mean in case, you get desperate and try to use some unconventional methods to leave."
"Like breaking out of prison or something, the escape route has tall mountains and dense forests, steep cliffs. If you slip and fall, an accidental fall from a cliff would be a great pity. Konoha cannot afford such a loss."
