When she looked in the mirror, she saw Princess Emily looking back. Confident. Beautiful. Powerful.
"Perfect," Timothy said softly. "You look like a queen."
"Not yet," Emily said. "But someday."
Ming Li appeared, dressed in all black as usual but with slightly more formal styling. She'd even put on minimal makeup, though she still had at least three concealed weapons visible to Emily's trained eye.
"Sister Emily looks AMAZING!" Ming Li declared. "Everyone at the restaurant will be so jealous! Except the threats! The threats will be intimidated and deterred!"
"There won't be threats at dinner, Li," Emily said patiently.
"That's what people always say right before the threats appear!" Ming Li countered. "But don't worry! I'll protect you! Also I look very fancy! See? I can blend in! Nobody will suspect I'm armed!"
"Everyone will suspect you're armed," Timothy said dryly. "But that's probably for the best. Deterrent effect."
