Emily returned to the penthouse to find it transformed into something resembling a military operations center. Maps covered the dining table, security equipment was spread across the coffee table, and Jack had apparently moved in temporarily, his laptop setup occupying an entire corner of the living room.
Timothy looked up from a conversation with Sebastian as Emily entered. "How was the rest of campus after the dean's meeting?"
"Quiet," Emily said, dropping her bag by the door. "Most students were too intimidated to approach me after the whole incident. Chai thinks I'm a legend now. Ming Li thinks she's a martyr for being banned."
"I AM a martyr!" Ming Li declared, emerging from the kitchen with Thor trailing behind her. "Sacrificed for the greater good! Banned for protecting Sister Emily! Future generations will tell stories about my bravery!"
