"The magic within our bodies is usually attribute-less."
Inside the training room, Grindelwald was carefully explaining the issue of magical attributes to Kyle.
"When casting ordinary spells, we don't involve the issue of converting magical attributes."
Kyle raised his hand like an attentive elementary school student. "Then what about my elemental magic..."
Before he could finish, Grindelwald interrupted him.
"Those little tricks of yours are, at best, just converting magic into corresponding elements and throwing them out all at once. Essentially, the nature of your magic is still a blank sheet of paper; it can't be called elemental magic at all."
Kyle scratched his cheek awkwardly.
"True elemental magic..." Grindelwald paused, waving his wand to scatter a large mist of light.
The mist, emitting a hazy shimmer, condensed into an image in the air.
In the image, a man wearing a long robe stood quietly atop a city wall, his deep eyes flickering with a terrifying light.
For some reason, the man looked a bit like a young Grindelwald.
Overwhelming crimson flames exploded outward, centered on the man standing quietly on the wall.
The earth trembled constantly. The sea of fire surged slowly, then poured down the city walls like waves blotting out the sun.
The scene shifted again. The center of the image was also a man.
He held a giant staff as tall as a person. Profound runes were engraved on the staff, emitting dazzling magical light.
The man raised the staff high and struck the ground heavily. Hundreds of dancing lightning dragons erupted from the point of impact.
Some plowed through the mountains and earth with savage wildness, some soared upward to crash through the clouds, and others circled in mid-air with lightning tendrils scattering in all directions.
Next came ice, water, wind, earth...
Magic of every element was displayed before Kyle.
"Th... This is..." The various earth-shattering elemental forbidden curses nearly made Kyle's jaw drop.
"I imagined this based on records in magical history."
Grindelwald's words left Kyle speechless.
So, you just sit around imagining how powerful ancient wizards were when you have nothing to do?
Noticing Kyle's gaze, the expression on Grindelwald's face faltered slightly.
He glared at Kyle. "Listen carefully! Don't interrupt me!"
Kyle: "Oh!"
"Ancient wizards were most skilled in using various kinds of elemental magic."
"They converted the nature of the magic within their bodies into corresponding elemental attributes, resonating with the free elemental particles in the air to enhance the power of their magic."
Grindelwald stared at the light screen before him. "This is also the reason why ancient wizards were able to cast such immensely powerful magic with the strength of a single person."
Kyle looked at Grindelwald with anticipation. By that logic, once he learned true elemental magic, could he be that powerful too?
Catching Kyle's expectant and reverent gaze, Grindelwald was very satisfied.
"Of course, the difficulty of learning magic is directly proportional to its power. In the current wizarding world, there are only a scattered few wizards who have mastered true elemental magic."
Grindelwald's tone suddenly carried a thick sense of pride. "I am one of those few, and I dare say I am the one who has studied elemental magic most thoroughly among them."
He also didn't forget to belittle his old lover. "Even Albus is far inferior to me in this field."
Kyle looked at his old dad somewhat speechlessly. He's over a hundred years old; why is he still comparing himself like a child?
Whatever, as long as the old man is happy.
Grindelwald knocked on the table, pulling Kyle's drifting thoughts back.
"The first thing we need to learn is magic attribute conversion."
Kyle: ...
Why does this sound so much like Chakra Nature Transformation?
Wait, is Grindelwald going to pull out a slip of paper next and ask me to test which way my magic attributes lean?
A ball of flame appeared in Grindelwald's hand.
It was a very ordinary ball of flame.
"Sense its changes carefully."
Kyle silently entered the state of opening the First Gate. He stared at the flame in Grindelwald's hand with total concentration, cranking his perception to the maximum.
A trace of blue diffused through the flame. Like a drop of ink falling into a glass of clear water, the flame was quickly dyed a ghostly blue.
Kyle recognized it at a glance—it was Fiendfyre.
However, compared to Voldemort's Fiendfyre, Grindelwald's seemed to have some differences.
"Notice anything?"
Kyle shook his head. He only sensed that some indescribable changes had occurred within the flame, but he couldn't perceive exactly what had happened at all.
Grindelwald smiled and said nothing; this was very normal.
If Kyle could clearly perceive the entire process of magic nature transformation on his first attempt, that would be abnormal.
"You can try putting your hand on it."
Kyle followed the instruction without any hesitation. His dad wouldn't go so far as to prank him like some unscrupulous parents.
The temperature of the ghostly blue Fiendfyre was very high, but strangely, when Kyle placed his hand on it, he didn't feel the slightest scorching sensation.
Kyle carefully sensed the Fiendfyre wrapping around his palm while constantly recalling the feeling of casting various fire magic spells. Soon, he sensed something different.
When casting fire magic, magic power acted like fuel for the flame.
If Kyle's magic was firewood, then Grindelwald's magic was like high-octane gasoline, capable of burning with higher efficiency and releasing more heat.
Moreover, Grindelwald's magic carried a scorching aura within it. Was this Fire Release magic power after undergoing nature transformation?
Seeing the subtle changes in Kyle's facial expression, Grindelwald knew he had definitely discovered something.
He hadn't expected Kyle's learning progress to be so fast, but thinking of Kyle's exquisite wandless casting skills, Grindelwald didn't find it too surprising.
After becoming accustomed to using wands, European and American wizards, who relied heavily on them, found it very difficult to cast spells without one.
This required a high degree of magical perception and control.
Sensing the nature of the magic was the first step. Next came the harder part: how to convert one's own attribute-less magic into magic imbued with elemental attributes.
Grindelwald casually summoned a blackboard.
Using his wand as a pointer, he tapped the blackboard, and several incantations immediately floated onto its surface.
Corroding Curse, Fear Curse, Shadowburn...
Just looking at the Latin words that composed these spells, one could tell they were not good magic.
"Compared to other elemental magic, curse-series magic allows you to perceive the changes in magic during the casting process most clearly."
After explaining the techniques of magic nature transformation to Kyle, Grindelwald let Kyle practice on his own.
