"I need to return to Asgard to deal with what remains," Thor suddenly said. "Xu Dan, will you come back with me?"
The Destroyer had been sent down—without question—by Loki.
So what exactly had Loki done throughout Asgard?
Thor didn't dare think further.
Since he hadn't been able to help Xu Dan at all just now, he inexplicably wanted to bring him along instead.
In response, Xu Dan stepped forward.
"Of course."
Entering Asgard—that was his goal from the very beginning.
How could he possibly refuse?
The two stepped onto the Rainbow Bridge. Thor called out "Heimdall" three times before the bridge descended in response.
Riding the Rainbow Bridge, the scenery ahead transformed into streaks of multicolored light.
The moment Xu Dan set foot in Asgard, a strange feeling rose in his heart.
Yet he couldn't grasp where it came from.
Heimdall—ignoring his own serious injuries—ran out immediately.
Under Loki's schemes, the Frost Giants who had infiltrated Asgard were wreaking havoc everywhere.
"Father!"
Thor was startled, instantly thinking of Odin.
Odin was still asleep. Those hateful Frost Giants—surely their first target would be him!
"Xu Dan, I'm sorry. I'll go on ahead!"
With that, Thor hurled Mjolnir and flew off.
...
Xu Dan was left idle.
He shifted his gaze to a Frost Giant rampaging nearby.
Against Asgard's dark-gold backdrop, the Frost Giant looked like a grotesque, melted mass.
"A Frost Giant? Naturally ice-elemental, then? I wonder if the fire magic I haven't practiced much will work…"
Laugh! Laugh! Laugh!
The Frost Giant froze in shock, suddenly realizing—
His legs were gone.
"Whoosh!!"
He wailed as terror seized him like a ghostly hand.
That wasn't a ghost's hand.
It was deadly flame.
"Roasting a snowman?"
Watching the Frost Giant gradually melt into a foul, shapeless mess, Xu Dan shook his head in mild disgust.
"Y-you… who are you?"
The rescued Asgardian woman stared at Xu Dan in disbelief.
Though Asgardians and Earthlings looked similar, subtle differences could still be sensed.
This man—clearly not one of Asgard's warriors—had come to her rescue.
And had even killed a terrifying Frost Giant.
Where were the soldiers at a time like this?
Only this strange hero stood before her.
"Xu Dan. Earthling," he replied without hesitation.
Then he stopped paying her any further attention.
His mood wasn't great—he had saved her, and that was that. Whether she lived or died afterward wasn't his concern.
The Western God Realm looked like something straight out of the Middle Ages.
People called it the Immortal Palace, yet there wasn't even a single fairy in sight.
The Heavenly Court was better—at least it had fairies everywhere.
After taking only two steps, a sudden noise sounded from above.
Looking up, Xu Dan saw Thor falling from the sky!
Startled, he hurriedly moved aside to avoid being crushed.
Thor landed—and right behind him was Loki.
"A warrior getting bloodied in close combat by a mage?" Loki mocked.
"I just wasn't using my full strength," Thor retorted.
"And who are you?!" Loki glared at Xu Dan.
The arrogant God of Mischief would never care about some earthbound nobody.
Even if he had seen Xu Dan among a sea of people before, he would never remember his face.
"See? Xu Dan—Loki's a jerk! And you said he was some famous god of Asgard…" Thor complained.
Xu Dan nearly laughed.
He hadn't expected Thor to actually remember that line.
It had only been meant as provocation.
"Well, he really doesn't look very likable."
"I am a god!" Loki snapped.
At the mention of gods versus mortals, Loki exploded with rage.
He raised the scepter in his hand and struck first at Xu Dan!
He intended to kill this non-Asgardian.
Clang!
Though Loki was positioned as a mage, his physical strength was far from weak.
The staff came down—but Xu Dan reacted in time, raising his sword to block.
Otherwise, that blow would have split him open on the spot.
"Silence!"
That sword strike carried the Dark Ranger's silence magic.
A mage's greatest fear was silence.
No matter how terrifying their damage output, once silenced, they were weaker than even a super-soldier.
Sure enough, once the silence invaded Loki's body, the energy within him abruptly stagnated.
It felt like drawing water from a well—
The bucket was there, but it couldn't be lifted.
In this state, he couldn't even summon a clone.
Seizing the opportunity, Thor attacked immediately, swinging Mjolnir and smashing Loki more than ten meters away!
Brutal.
This brother showed no mercy when beating his younger brother.
Even so, Loki was tough—this hammer blow didn't kill him.
As the silence wore off, the energy within his body began flowing again.
Loki frowned at Xu Dan.
He couldn't believe some nameless figure possessed such strange, unfathomable abilities.
Perhaps… it was just a problem with his own body.
But he had underestimated Xu Dan's offense.
Xu Dan swung his sword from a distance—far too far to possibly hit Loki.
Yet a black shadow emerged.
This ink-like shadow, also wielding a sword, slashed straight across Loki's shoulder!
"Ugh!"
Loki cried out in pain, cursing nonstop.
But the shadow showed no intention of letting him go.
Clang!
Clang! Clang!
Amid a storm of metallic clashes, the God of Mischief was beaten back by an unknown black shadow!
What was this?!
"Enough!" Loki roared, enraged, reaching for his dagger—
Only to find the black shadow suddenly dissipate.
"What was that?! Give it to me!"
Not only Loki—even Thor stood dumbfounded.
He had never seen anything so bizarre.
But if he had ever played Heavenly Saber and used Zhenwu, he would understand.
That was a genuine martial-arts flex.
Poor Loki thought he had seen a ghost in broad daylight, shouting at empty air.
"So even those who've always stood above the world have their blind spots."
Xu Dan smiled, slowly sheathing his sword as he looked calmly at Loki.
Unless Loki had used a clone as a tactical decoy from the start, there was no escaping this time.
A serious Thor alone could suppress him.
And now—
There was also Xu Dan, a man shrouded in countless mysteries.
