Chapter 659 - Chapter 659: Serpent's Nest

Chapter 659: Serpent's Nest

The Sonic Attack Aftermath

The attack happened too suddenly.

The overwhelming sonic wave destroyed everything in its path, triggering a destructive surge.

Dom and the Death Gods were forced to leave the giant pit and ascend to the sky. Under the influence of the sound waves, the ground seemed to turn into liquid, raising wave after wave that expanded everywhere. Wherever they reached, all solid matter turned to powder.

It took a full three minutes for the sonic wave to slowly dissipate.

The giant pit had vanished. The ground was flat and soft; in some places, tiny, diamond-like crystals had even precipitated. The sound wave had not only altered the mountains and terrain, but even the molecular structure was affected, splitting open into independent units under the shockwave.

Klind painfully lay on the ground, his soul body shaking violently, on the verge of collapsing. As a Specter, he had high resistance to physical attacks, but he couldn't withstand a sonic surge of this magnitude.

The vibrating power had nearly shattered his soul body.

The seventeen Death Gods wore taut, solemn expressions. The previous scene brought back painful memories. During the War of the Gods thousands of years ago, a certain Human God had used a similar attack.

That individual had suddenly appeared in the headquarters of the Underworld army and destroyed nearly a tenth of the forces with a single move.

"Was it him?"

"Other than him, no one else wields this kind of power."

The Octopus Death God said chillingly, "How many Human Gods have been resurrected?"

"That is precisely what we need to determine," Dom declared, gazing into the distance. "No matter what, we cannot allow the events of the past to repeat themselves."

One Death God shook his head. "The pit has been sealed. The enemy must be aware of us. Finding them again will be difficult."

The atmosphere grew silent. They were Death Gods, but not omnipotent. On the contrary, most of their actions were subject to certain constraints. For example, Death Gods could not casually kill mortals, especially the living, but there were no such constraints when dealing with other Gods.

After a moment of thought, Dom approached Klind, placing a hand on his shoulder. The specter's shaking soul body immediately calmed down. The Lord of Flame, having miraculously survived, quickly bowed.

"Thank you, Your Lordship."

Dom spoke gravely. "You mentioned earlier that several Humans appeared in the Underworld. Are you certain?"

"Yes, and they are very strong. Avogadro died at their hands."

"Are they Gods?"

Klind pondered for a moment, then shook his head. "Probably not, but they possess power comparable to that of a God."

"Where are they?"

"They should be at the Plain of White Bones, the Valley of No Return. The Demon-kin girl said they accidentally came to the Underworld and plan to return to Earth through the Valley of No Return."

Valley of No Return?

Dom silently repeated the name, his expression complicated. The origin of that ancient war was the Valley of No Return. If an entrance to the mortal realm hadn't suddenly appeared there, the creatures of the Underworld would never have conceived of evil, and the God War that swept the world would never have erupted.

One Death God said, "The Valley of No Return is sealed. How would they get through?"

"That, I do not know," Klind answered truthfully, his expression extremely respectful.

"It seems we must make a trip to the Plain of White Bones."

Dom shifted his gaze, fixing it on the central area of the God-Demon Battlefield.

Luke Enters the Nest

The Plain of White Bones, a burial ground.

A place this vast, piled with so many bones—one could only imagine how many lives were lost to achieve this effect. Tens of millions? Hundreds of millions? Billions?

Looking at the boundless expanse of bones, a complex feeling arose in Luke's heart.

He hadn't experienced the War of the Gods, but the scene before him painted a picture of its brutality. Human Gods and Underworld Gods battled, with countless soldiers buried alongside them.

Though he disliked the Gods, a sense of respect still arose in him. Were it not for them, Earth might not exist today.

Luke shook his head slightly, and armed with the Sword of Hephaestus and the Lasso of Truth, he walked alone toward the depths of the plain.

The exit was locked. The only way out was to deal with the colossal entity hidden deep beneath the ground. Though it was extremely dangerous, it was their only option.

After a night had passed, the plain returned to its daytime appearance, looking calm and peaceful on the surface, yet hiding an unknown reality below.

Luke walked to the spot where Hanyue had vanished, raising his right fist and slamming it into the ground.

Boom!

A fiery Dragon surged out, blasting open the bone fragments, and exploded again deep underground.

"Sure enough!"

"Magic again."

Luke abruptly channeled his power. Thirteen Fire Dragons formed, roaring as they plunged downward.

Snap!

Something cracked. The ground suddenly sank, creating a bottomless sinkhole. Luke did not go down but stayed outside, waiting quietly.

A short time later, the sound of rushing wind came. A giant tentacle surged out of the sinkhole. The tip split open, and an incomparably beautiful woman appeared in the writhing oral cavity.

The Moon Goddess, Princess Hanyue...

Luke quickly looked up, making an effort not to look below her neck.

"Why are you here? Do you have a death wish? Hurry and leave!"

Hanyue seemed anxious, looking downward as she spoke.

"I want to talk to you, tell you the current situation in the mortal world, and I also want to cooperate with you."

"Cooperate?"

Hanyue looked at Luke, confused, and he nodded in confirmation.

"Yes, cooperation. We are trapped in the Underworld, and our deepest desire is to go home. You feel the same way. Since our goals are the same, why can't we work together?"

"But..."

Just as Hanyue was about to speak, the voices of her companions echoed in her mind. After listening, she spoke with a hint of unease.

"Come down. Someone wants to see you."

As she spoke, she repeatedly made eye contact with Luke, signaling him to leave quickly. However, he shook his head slightly, took a leap, and jumped into the hole.

Hanyue waved her arm in frustration and quickly followed him down.

The sinkhole was extremely deep. It took a full three minutes of flying to reach the bottom. Judging by the airflow, there had to be a very expansive space ahead. Hanyue whispered,

"Be careful what you say later. Do not anger them."

As she finished speaking, rows of glowing orbs lit up, emitting milky-white ripples that clearly illuminated the surroundings.

At that moment, even Luke, having lived two lives, was stunned by the sight before him.

Tentacles!

All kinds of tentacles!

Dense, gigantic tentacles were intertwined, each immensely massive. Looking out, it resembled a Serpent's Nest formed by gigantic pythons covering the sky.

On top of every tentacle was a human figure—men and women, old and young—each with only their upper half and completely nude. These people were all staring at Luke simultaneously. Some were angry, some surprised, some indifferent, some greedy... all kinds of expressions. What they shared was the terrifying pressure originating from a God.

Undoubtedly, these individuals were all Gods, the Human Gods of the ancient era.

Luke swallowed hard, his heart racing. After a while, he managed a dry introduction.

"My name is Luke Shaw. I am from the mortal realm of Earth, a successor of the Eastern Celestial Court. I was brought to the Underworld by Anubis due to certain events. My current situation is the same as yours: we are all trapped here."
