Chapter 658: The Death God Army

The Ambush of the Human God

Klind's voice echoed in the grand hall of the Plutopolis Temple. After a long silence, Dom finally responded.

"Aquine!"

A lizard-man with dark-green skin appeared in the hall.

"My Lord."

"Follow him to the God-Demon Battlefield. Ascertain the secret of the tentacles. If a large number of Human Gods have truly been resurrected, notify me immediately. Do not delay."

"Understood."

The lizard-man bowed and slowly retreated.

Klind bowed in thanks and left the hall with the lizard-man.

The two took the Plutopolis teleportation array and arrived directly at the outskirts of the God-Demon Battlefield. Aquine asked curiously,

"I heard you participated in the War of the Gods."

Klind nodded humbly. Although this fellow's power was mediocre, the presence of Dom meant Klind had to play second fiddle.

"How many Gods from the Human World did you kill?"

"Well..." Klind hesitated, giving an ambiguous answer. "I must have killed a few."

Must have?

The lizard-man sneered dismissively, his scorn evident.

Klind was inwardly annoyed but held his tongue.

The two reached the site of the Underworld Dragon's death. The lizard-man used his unique sensory gifts to collect the residual dragon blood scent in the air and quickly determined the direction the corpse had vanished.

Following the scent, they chased it for about a hundred kilometers until a bottomless giant pit appeared before them.

The scent disappeared right here.

The giant pit was like an open abyss, exuding an extremely eerie aura. The lizard-man tensed up, feeling a prickling sensation of imminent danger.

Klind said indifferently, "The main body of the tentacle monster is directly beneath this pit."

"What should we do? Go down together?"

The lizard-man glanced at him, secretly furious, but didn't dare agree easily. His senses were extremely sharp, and he could clearly feel the danger hidden in the pit. If he went down, he wouldn't come out alive.

Klind continued, "Are you proficient in magic? If so, we can launch a joint attack to lure the monster out."

"Of course, I am! I don't need you to tell me."

The lizard-man retreated to a hillside and used magic to create a large swath of acidic liquid. Klind transformed into a Fire Giant and blasted out a deep red column of fire.

Both attacks reached the depths of the pit simultaneously. Following the explosions, the ground began to shake, the tremors growing stronger until the very air seemed to waver.

Boom!

An incredibly huge tentacle shot out of the pit. The tip split open, revealing a flower-petal mouth full of fangs. Within the writhing oral cavity, a bald, massive man slowly emerged.

His lower half was fused with the mouth, his upper body was completely naked, and he had a fierce appearance and harsh eyes. He wore Buddhist prayer beads around his neck, strongly resembling a Fierce Guardian statue from Buddhism.

"It's him!" Klind's eyes widened. "How is he alive too?"

The lizard-man frowned. "A Human God?"

Klind nodded. "Be careful. He's very strong."

Before the words were finished, the bald giant suddenly spread his right hand. The air swirled, and a massive palm made of pure energy descended from the sky.

Boom!

The two had no time to dodge and were slammed directly into the ground by the giant palm. The shockwave radiated outward. Once the dust settled, a huge palm print, dozens of feet deep, marked the earth.

The lizard-man vomited blood, nearly pulverized by the attack.

Just then, a fierce whistling sound was heard. Another hand, even more exaggerated than the last, appeared overhead.

The giant palm was like a mountain. Before it even reached them, the permeating air pressure shattered rocks and left spider-web cracks in the ground.

Sensing the extreme danger, Klind quickly activated a magic stone, teleporting himself and the lizard-man dozens of miles away.

The immediate danger of death vanished, but the lingering fear remained in their hearts.

The lizard-man knelt, panting heavily. Recalling the earlier scene, he couldn't help but shiver.

"Are the Gods of the Human World... this powerful?"

Klind tossed the now-petrified magic stone aside and replied casually, "Among the Human Gods, he doesn't even rank in the top three hundred."

Three hundred?

The lizard-man was stunned. No wonder his Lord was so severely injured—the Gods of the Human World were that formidable.

Klind caught his breath.

"Contact Lord Dom. We need reinforcements."

The lizard-man was reluctant. Asking for help so soon after arriving would make him look incompetent, but the memory of the sky-sized hand forced him to reluctantly retrieve his communication stone.

The magic activated, and Dom's face appeared before them.

Both immediately bowed. The lizard-man carefully recounted their encounter, not missing a single detail.

Klind stated grimly, "First the Moon Goddess, now the Venerable Giant Spirit. The God-Demon Battlefield hides dangers we don't know about, very likely related to the Human Gods."

"My Lord, we require aid."

Dom's expression also grew serious. If it were only the Moon Goddess, it could be explained, but the appearance of another Human God, in the same fashion, was cause for grave alarm.

"Stay put. Reinforcements will arrive shortly."

The Ambush of the Death Gods

The communication cut off. Both Klind and Aquine sighed in relief. A short while later, the space ahead twisted, and a portal formed. Dom, clad in blue armor and wielding a crescent-shaped scimitar, strode out. Behind him were two squads of soldiers and seventeen other beings of varied appearance.

Death accompanied their presence. One could faintly perceive vengeful spirits and the cycle of reincarnation around them.

These seventeen beings were all Underworld Death Gods!

Since the War of the Gods, this was the first time Klind had seen so many Death Gods. Terrified, he immediately scrambled to the ground.

"My Lord, and all you esteemed Gods, why have you all come?"

A Death God who looked like a demon stepped forward.

"Where is he?"

"Just up ahead."

Klind instinctively pointed backward. Before he finished speaking, the many Death Gods in front of him had vanished. Klind and the lizard-man exchanged looks and followed at top speed.

By the time they arrived, the battle was already over.

The giant tentacle lay on the ground, sliced into more than a dozen segments. A Death God with an octopus head was grasping the head of the Venerable Giant Spirit, reading his memories. After a moment, he said solemnly,

"He was not resurrected. His True Spirit was stolen and housed within the tentacle body. There are many Human Gods like him—at least a hundred."

The faces of the assembled Gods instantly changed. Over a hundred Human Gods! If that force were unleashed, the resulting destruction would be unimaginable.

"Where is the main body?" Dom demanded.

The Octopus Death God pointed to the giant pit. "There is a channel at the bottom of the pit. Following it will lead us to the main body."

Dom did not hesitate, charging directly into the depths of the pit. The others followed closely. Unexpectedly, they had barely descended before a sonic boom erupted in their ears. The air roiled, rising and falling like ocean waves.

A physical, concentrated sonic attack surged toward them.

Boom!

The rock walls collapsed. Shattered stones were pulverized into molecules by the sound waves. The sky, the ground, the earth—everything trembled. This power was sufficient to annihilate all things.

"No good!"

Dom's face changed drastically. He quickly swung his twin scimitars to cut through the sound wave, but it was too late. Among the assembled party, aside from the Death Gods and the Specter Klind, everyone else was instantly reduced to bloody mist, dying before they could even cry for help.
