Chapter 654: The Plain of White Bone Flowers

Klind's Revelation

Klind, the Master of the Valley of the Dead and an ancient Lord of Flame, was a specter of countless legends. Some called him the most powerful prophetic sorcerer, while others cursed him as a treacherous old immortal.

Before sending his subordinates, Klind had placed a soul mark on them. The moment the magic was activated, a spatial portal spanning nearly a million kilometers was formed.

Klind crossed spacetime, traveling from the Valley of the Dead to the God-Demon Battlefield.

The Specter who performed the spell instantly vanished into thin air.

The three Demon-kin—Mochen, Moyin, and Mo'en—immediately prostrated themselves, anxiously saying, "Master, why... why have you come?"

Klind glanced at them, then flashed to the center of the battlefield. Dragon blood still stained the ground, and the gnawed Dragon Head lay on a nearby hill.

"Everything is fate."

"Avogadro, you despicable little worm! I warned you that your heart would become raw material and your head a collectible, but you refused to believe me."

Klind curled his lip into a triumphant smile. He raised a hand, and the Dragon Head rose, slowly flying toward him.

"My treasury will have one more exhibit."

"The head of the Underworld Dragon is worthy of the first shelf."

The Specter Captain stepped forward and recounted the events in detail.

"Tentacles? Singing?"

Klind fell into contemplation. Seventy thousand years of experience flashed through his mind, but he couldn't recall a similar case.

"Are you certain?"

"Yes, we were all there. The moment we heard the singing, we fell into a chaotic state and had no idea what happened. When we woke up, both the Spider and the Underworld Dragon's body were gone, leaving only the head."

Klind's brow furrowed. According to their description, the Spider Monster was comparable in size to the Underworld Dragon—at least God-level. For a God to be affected by singing and unable to react while its body was being consumed was incredibly bizarre.

Singing tentacles? Do such creatures exist in the Underworld?

After a moment of thought, Klind walked forward and used magic to replay the previous scene.

An immensely huge tentacle was coiled around the spider's body. At the tip of the tentacle appeared a Human female, nude from the waist up, revealing a figure of infinite beauty. She sang to the spider, and even without hearing the sound, Klind felt the magic seeping into the soul.

"It's her?"

"The Moon Goddess!"

"Princess Hanyue, the ancient Goddess of Dreams, one of the three protectors of the Eastern Celestial Court!"

"How is this possible? Wasn't she killed?"

Klind was shaken to his core, bordering on panic. The name of the Moon Goddess was known to every high-level being in the Underworld.

Her singing was the Sound of Nightmare—even Gods couldn't resist. Anyone who heard her song entered the Dream Kingdom and would wear a smile even while being sliced into a thousand pieces.

Too many Gods died by her hand during the War of the Gods. Finally, over a dozen Death Gods sacrificed their souls to seal her voice and managed to kill her.

The Moon Goddess is alive? Who resurrected her?

Klind suddenly smelled a conspiracy. If the Moon Goddess was alive, did that mean the other Gods who participated in the War of the Gods were also alive?

Were all Gods resurrected, or only the Gods from the Human World?

A chill ran down his spine. Even as a specter, he couldn't control the shiver.

That ancient war had almost destroyed the divine structure of the Underworld. Death Gods disappeared in droves. The few who survived were either left damaged and bewildered or were in a sealed state, unable to use their divine power for life.

If not for that war, a fool like Avogadro would never have become the ruler of the Endless Lands.

Klind fell deep into thought. After a moment, he turned and left. He needed to find Pluto Dom. This matter had to be thoroughly investigated. The Gods of the Human World must not be given a second chance.

The Eerie Plain

Luke and the others were unaware of the story behind the tentacles, simply dismissing them as unusually formed stitch-monsters.

The God-Demon Battlefield was wrapped in mist, making it impossible to distinguish directions, but thankfully, this was not the Void, and there was no spatial folding. Relying on the powered armor's positioning system, the group was able to determine the approximate location of the center.

They traveled in a straight line, encountering several groups of bandits that Clark easily disposed of. After flying for about five hours, the dense mist finally dispersed. A flashing light ahead revealed a landscape piled high with white bones. Bone-crafted flowers grew from the ground, their petals gleaming with a white light that gave off an aura of sanctity.

"There it is! The Plain of White Bone Flowers!"

Diana was filled with surprise and joy. "Luke, we found it!"

Clark and J'onn could also barely contain their happiness. Black Adam had said that the Valley of No Return was on the Plain of White Bone Flowers, and the scene before them confirmed his words.

Luke, however, was not so happy. He frowned, carefully observing his surroundings. Unlike other areas, this place was terrifyingly quiet. There were no stitch-monsters, no specters, and no strange creatures. As far as the eye could see, there was no sign of any living being.

And the bones on the ground...

He picked up a bone fragment and held it. Though it was dead matter, it radiated a holy light.

This is too strange!

Luke instinctively felt that something was wrong. He had a prickly sensation, as if he were being watched, but couldn't pinpoint the source. This was the first time he had experienced such a feeling since his reincarnation.

The layer of bone fragments on the ground was thick, easily two meters deep. Stepping on it produced a crunching sound that was deeply unsettling, as if they were walking on corpses.

Clark whispered,

"I have a strange feeling of unease, as if something is watching us."

Diana looked around. "Really? I don't feel anything."

J'onn closed his eyes, probing with his psychic abilities. After a moment, he shook his head slightly.

"No psychic signature. Nothing at all."

Clark frowned. "But I definitely feel like someone is staring at us."

Luke couldn't help but look at him with newfound respect. Worthy of being Superman, the possessor of the Codex—to have such powerful danger sense.

"Luke, what about you? Do you feel it?"

Luke silently shook his head.

"The way home is right ahead. Whatever danger lies there, we have to cross it."

The three fell silent simultaneously. They looked at each other, and without hesitation, clenched their fists. Luke was right. The road home was ahead. Be it God or Demon, anything that blocked their path had to die.

With their resolve firm, the group confidently walked toward the depths of the plain. As they passed the first bone flower, Luke stopped, reached down, gripped the stalk, and pulled it up.

Snap!

The stalk broke. In that instant, a sigh flashed through Luke's mind.

Luke frowned tighter, feeling more and more uneasy. He held the bone flower and examined it closely. The next second, the petals dissolved, scattering into countless motes of fluorescent light that drifted into the sky.

At the same time, a new flower grew from the broken stalk, shining as brightly as before and radiating the same holy light.

The group froze, standing stock-still in shock.
