Chapter 653 - Chapter 653: The Moon on the Tentacle

Chapter 653: The Moon on the Tentacle

Adam's Evolution

Adam's condition was dire. Bloodline evolution was equivalent to a complete genetic recompilation. Every muscle, every blood vessel, and every cell, from the inside out, was undergoing a metabolic process of death, rebirth, and reorganization.

The more dragon blood he swallowed, the larger the lumps on his body grew. The swelling lumps had sealed the wound, and the surface was covered in blood-red fissures, looking ready to burst at any moment.

This spectacle drew the attention of Clark and J'onn, who couldn't help but ask,

"Is this the legendary evolution?"

Luke shrugged. "Who knows what's going on?"

Diana frowned. "He's not going to die, is he?"

"Probably not."

J'onn clicked his tongue and shook his head. "The Underworld truly is a wondrous place. A half-dragon being able to perform genetic self-reorganization by swallowing dragon blood—that would be unimaginable on Earth."

Luke interjected, "While Humans aren't individually strong, our genetic sequence is unusually stable. Every structure is meticulously regulated, making it almost irreversible. The Underworld is different."

"The species here are inherently unstable. Half-dragons, Demon Lizards, Red Rock Men, and many others all have numerous subspecies. They can automatically adjust their bodily structure, even altering their genetic sequence to gain the ability to survive and reproduce. This ability allows them to adapt to the Underworld's terrible environment, but it also creates a problem: it's hard for them to maintain tradition and form a unique cultural system."

"The Underworld can never give birth to its own civilization, nor can it develop technology."

Diana waved a hand. "Why talk about all that? What does their technological development have to do with us? The most urgent thing now is to find the Valley of No Return and return to Earth. I really don't want to spend another minute here."

Luke collected his thoughts, his expression serious.

"We will go back. Trust me."

Just then, a thump-thump sound arose, like a beating heart. The swollen lumps contracted inward, then suddenly exploded.

Puff!

Blood plasma splattered everywhere, which Luke instantly blocked.

"Adam, what happened?"

"Are you okay?"

After about ten seconds, a joyful voice came from inside the corpse.

"I'm great, Young Master! I... I succeeded!"

A tall figure, covered in blood, climbed out of the wound. The stench of blood was overpowering.

Luke frowned slightly and used his Dao technique to create a stream of water to wash his body. As the bloodstains faded, they revealed the body of a Dragon-kin covered in black-red scales. Compared to before, Adam was like a completely different person.

His body was slightly smaller but much more robust. His tail was gone, two horns had sprouted on his head, his two wings had become four, and his limbs were long, covered in fine, dense scales. His muscles looked like refined steel that had been hammered thousands of times, holding explosive power.

"Not bad, not bad."

Luke looked him over, praising him. "You are barely qualified now."

"Thank you, Young Master."

Adam knelt down. "Adam will never forget the kindness of his Master's recreation."

"Enough with the formalities. Pick up the Dragon Heart. We need to leave."

"Yes, Young Master."

Adam walked up to the heart and lifted the over-400-pound Dragon Heart with one hand. His strength and defense had increased by a staggering eight times. Though he couldn't compare to monsters like Clark or Diana, he had certainly entered the ranks of the powerful.

The bloodline evolution brought changes not just physically, but also in thought and will. Many changes occurred subtly.

The current Adam was no longer a mere half-dragon but a higher life form, second only to a true Giant Dragon.

The Siren and the Spider

After the heroes departed, the area immediately became a paradise for scavengers and stitch-monsters. All kinds of creatures swarmed in from all directions, drinking the dragon blood and gorging themselves on the dragon meat.

The Underworld Dragon was a top-tier creature with an extremely high life level. Its flesh and blood possessed powerful bloodline factors, and without exception, every creature that consumed them began to evolve.

Some grew dragon scales, some sprouted wings, some breathed fire, and others gained the Dragon's intimidation. A few stitch-monsters even grew flesh and gained a body of flesh and blood.

For the creatures living on the God-Demon Battlefield, this was undoubtedly a once-in-a-century feast.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently.

Mountains collapsed, and the earth sunk. A pillar made of bone drilled out of the ground. The pillar was over ten meters in diameter, covered in barbs. Following it came eight limbs, a segmented torso like bamboo, and a spider-like head.

Its size was truly immense, comparable to the Underworld Dragon itself.

As the Spider Monster appeared, the surrounding creatures scattered. A few powerful ones chose to stay, issuing warning roars, only to be crushed into pulp by a single foot.

The Spider Monster climbed onto the dragon corpse and began to devour the flesh. After a moment, it suddenly stopped, its eyes scanning the surroundings alertly.

A melodious singing rose from the ethereal mist. The song was crisp and pleasant, echoing in the ears as if a lover were plucking at one's heartstrings.

The Spider Monster unknowingly sank into the music, completely oblivious to the gigantic tentacle passing through the mist. At the tip of the tentacle was a woman of indescribable beauty. She had black hair, black eyes, skin that glowed with light, and the corners of her eyes curved like a crescent moon, radiating endless tenderness.

She sang around the spider, her voice graceful and moving, plunging the listener into a trance from which they couldn't escape. Even the stitch-monsters several thousand miles away lay on the ground, wearing expressions of blissful happiness.

As the beauty sang, the tentacle danced, winding around the spider's body, slowly contracting inward. A crackling sound of bone could be heard, and blood sprayed outward, yet the spider noticed none of it, still immersed in the song.

At that moment, two more tentacles appeared. They opened their petal-like mouths and used their fangs to tear the flesh from the spider's body.

The scene was both serene and bloody.

The huge body was entirely consumed by the tentacles, leaving only the head. Even then, the spider's face still bore a look of blissful happiness, though two lines of blood streamed from its eyes.

After eating the spider, the three tentacles coiled around the remains of the Underworld Dragon's corpse and vanished into the thick mist.

Long after they left, the group of Demon-kin hiding in the distance dared to peek out. Remembering the recent events, they shivered violently.

"What kind of monster was that?"

"Big Sister, do you know?"

Mochen hugged her arms, shaking her head repeatedly. "It was too terrifying. I never want to see it again."

The accompanying Specters were also terrified. When the singing began, they, too, had been immersed in it, unaware of what was happening. Only after the tentacles left did they realize the horror.

Moyin, the third sister, whispered, "Should we still follow them? I... I want to go back."

Mochen and Moyin turned to look at the Specters. The three Specters were also wavering. Klind's order was to catch up with the Humans, monitor them, and seize an opportunity to find out about the Valley of No Return.

That was easy to say, but extremely difficult to do.

The God-Demon Battlefield was overrun with monsters, including many God-level entities. Moving forward here was like walking on a mountain of knives.

After a moment of hesitation, one of the Specters activated a soul secret technique to contact Klind, the Lord of Flame.
