Chapter 648: The Underworld Dragon's Fate (1)
The Dragon Escapes
Nature is always changing. The prey can't always be tormented; one day, it, too, will become the predator. The same is true for the predator.
Avogadro was arrogant, proud, brutal, and vicious. As a pure evil dragon, he delighted in devouring and plundering, never once imagining that one day he would become someone else's food.
The three tentacles were like three chains, binding his body tightly. The people on the tentacles were even more terrifying: one summoned celestial thunder, one spat out wind blades, and one could hurl a spear capable of piercing the sky.
Avogadro could smell the aura of his own kind on them.
Undoubtedly, these three were Gods, Gods from the Human World.
How is this possible?
Avogadro was frantic. Seeing he couldn't break free, he decided to go all the way and directly detonated the power of Death inside his body.
Boom!
Black flames exploded on his scales. The resulting flame shockwave shattered the bone fragments on the tentacles' surfaces and severely injured Avogadro himself.
Explosions occurred one after another, churning the air and sending ripples outward. The Black Flame explosion not only caused physical damage but also plundered the tentacles' life force, corrupting their flesh and bone, causing them to wither like dried corpses.
After dozens of consecutive explosions, the tentacles couldn't bear the damage and began to retract.
Avogadro seized the opportunity, forcibly broke through the entanglement, and fled outward like a maniac. His speed was incredible; one flap of his four wings covered several kilometers.
The shadow weaved through the clouds, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
The three tentacles couldn't keep up and had to stop, collecting the scattered dragon blood on the ground before retracting back into the giant pit.
Avogadro ran at full speed, only stopping after hundreds of miles. Thinking back on the recent events, a look of deep terror appeared in his dragon eyes.
What in the world was that thing?
A Tentacle Stitch-Monster?
No, Stitch-Monsters didn't have flesh and blood, nor could they use magic. And those three Gods—they looked exactly like Humans. Could they really be Gods from the Human World?
Didn't the Gods of the Human World all die in that great war? How were they still alive?
Avogadro was completely baffled, even contemplating giving up everything and fleeing back to Dragonhold.
Just then, the Prophecy Bead trembled, suddenly detaching from his body and flying downward.
The Dragon's Weakness
Luke and the others in the valley also sensed something and looked up at the sky.
A shadow quietly emerged from the ink-like clouds, falling downward, growing larger and larger. It pierced the clouds, revealing a massive, mountain-like body. Black scales glinted darkly, and its spread wings seemed capable of eclipsing the sky.
Even before it arrived, they felt the overwhelming pressure emanating from the top-tier creature.
Adam stood rooted, his knees weak, sinking uncontrollably to the ground.
"The Underworld Dragon... K-King Avogadro."
"So that's the Underworld Dragon."
Luke was curious, examining the Dragon from head to toe. It was certainly massive, but it was also covered in wounds and bleeding in many places. Both pairs of wings were visibly fractured, and there was a bloody hole in its head; only one eye remained.
Diana muttered, "It looks injured. Very badly injured."
Clark used his microscopic vision to examine the Dragon's body.
"The internal injuries are worse than the external ones. Many of its organs are damaged."
J'onn added, "Its mental state isn't good either. It's very weak."
"So, what is this dragon doing?"
Luke spread his hands. "Surely it hasn't come here to die, has it?"
Traveling a thousand miles to deliver its own head? A small gift with profound meaning?
Avogadro immediately spotted the kneeling Adam, a malicious light bursting from his eyes.
"Why are you here? You dare betray me!"
"Your Majesty, I... I..."
Adam was terrified, his voice shaking. He was about to beg for mercy when he sensed the gazes from the heroes nearby. Remembering their combat power, he clenched his jaw, forced himself to stand up, and declared,
"Avogadro, Underworld Dragon, I have no further ties with you! I am my Young Master's servant, his servant for all eternity!"
"Young Master?"
Avogadro turned his head, staring fixedly at Luke.
"You are his master."
"That's right."
Luke gave a slight nod, a form of greeting. "Your Majesty, why are you here instead of relaxing in your lair? Surely it's not for Adam?"
Avogadro's face was dark. He looked over the heroes, suddenly opening his mouth and blasting out a torrent of burning black flame.
The fire expanded rapidly, covering several kilometers from top to bottom.
"Coward!"
Diana roared, raising her shield, but Luke stopped her.
"All of you step back! This fire is unusual. Adam, you go too."
With that, his form swelled, transforming into a six-armed giant. Green Flame surged out of his body, morphing into eighteen colossal fire dragons that roared and charged toward the black flames.
Boom!
The two fires collided, shaking the earth.
Compared to the enormous Underworld Dragon, Luke, even as a giant, was still tiny like an ant. Yet, the flames he released were like unbreakable rock, remaining unshaken amidst the black sea of fire.
Avogadro took a deep breath, compressing black light inside his mouth.
Omm!
The air vibrated. The black light shot forward, carrying world-destroying power. It tore through the eighteen fire dragons and slammed heavily into Luke's body.
"Luke!"
Diana cried out in alarm.
"He's fine," J'onn shook his head. "He's okay."
After piercing Luke, the black light continued unabated, only fading away once it reached the horizon. Everything in its path was scorched, leaving behind burning holes.
Avogadro sneezed, withdrew his flame, and stared down coldly. A figure rose from the dirt—it was Luke.
"Your Majesty, no, I shouldn't call you King. A treacherous opportunist like you, who is strong but enjoys sneak attacks, doesn't deserve the title of King."
"Did you come specifically for us, or were you passing by? Even if you're going to attack, there should be a reason!"
Avogadro lowered his head, which was larger than a building. "Surrender. Submit to the great Underworld Dragon, and I will spare your lives."
Luke sighed slightly. "It seems it's the former. Since you've chased us across such a great distance, we can't be impolite."
"I hear the Dragon Heart is the source of a giant dragon's life, the most supreme magical material in the world. The life essence contained within it can resurrect the dead. I'm very interested in it. Leave your heart, and I'll let you go."
"Insignificant Human, you are courting death!"
Avogadro opened his mouth, filled with black flame, and lunged to bite Luke. Suddenly, a sonic boom ripped through the air. A figure flew in at extreme speed, slamming heavily into his neck.
The scales instantly shattered. Clark dug his hands into the flesh. He gritted his teeth, all his muscles bulging, and with a low growl,
Crack!
The sound of bone snapping echoed in the air. Clark had forcibly broken the bone in Avogadro's neck.
Without skeletal support, the enormous head flopped straight onto the ground.
The sight completely stunned Adam.
