Chapter 225: Another Victory
"This little trick isn't enough to scare me!"
Ron snapped back as sparks burst from the tip of his wand.
He immediately played Knights Assemble (4 Mana — Summon two 2/2 Little Knights with Divine Shield).
The effect of Divine Shield allowed a unit to block one instance of damage entirely.
Two armored phantom knights leapt out from the card art, iron shields raised high as they took position before Godric Gryffindor.
Ron then activated Gryffindor's Hero Power, granting himself two points of Armor before ending his turn.
Across the table, Draco Malfoy smirked coldly.
He cast Black Market Dealings (2 Mana Spell — Randomly draw a minion from your deck).
A card glowing with ominous blood-red light slid from his deck into his hand.
Blood-Curse Orc.
A smug grin spread across Draco Malfoy's face as he looked at the card he had drawn.
"Let's see your pathetic little shields stop an ancient curse."
"Go—Blood-Curse Beast!"
A massive serpent slammed onto the battlefield with a thunderous crash.
As its enormous body coiled and twisted, a spray of venom burst from its jaws, splattering across every unit on the field and instantly melting the Little Knights' shields into molten iron.
Blood-Curse Beast — 6 Mana, 6/6
Battlecry: Deal 1 damage to all other characters.
Then the creature's body began to distort and shift, transforming into the form of a woman.
Draco ended his turn with an arrogant smirk.
Across the table, Ron Weasley's knuckles whitened.
Suddenly, he slammed down a spell card.
Expulso Strike — 4 Mana Spell
Deal 3 damage to a character. Draw a card.
Using the spell alongside one of his surviving Little Knights, Ron managed to bring down the Blood-Curse Beast before once again activating Gryffindor's Hero Power.
Draco's expression darkened further as another of his cards was eliminated.
But the moment he drew his next card, delight instantly returned to his face.
This card was absurdly powerful.
The instant Dementor Breeding Cage crashed onto the battlefield, the temperature of the entire arena seemed to drop by ten degrees.
Frost crept through the iron bars while ghostly prisoners inside emitted hollow, miserable sobs.
The dark creatures produced by the modified soul-draining curse left icy fingerprints on every enemy card they attacked.
Dementor Breeding Cage — 6 Mana, 2/2
Summon two 0/2 Dementors.
At the end of each turn, the Dementors drained one life from the enemy character with the lowest health.
Under the horrifying visual effect of the Dementor's Kiss, Gryffindor's health began steadily dropping.
Ron frowned.
"You said they only drained one health. Why are they taking so much?"
Draco grinned viciously.
"Oh, I forgot to mention it."
"The Breeding Cage increases the amount of life the Dementors drain by one."
"Your little Courage mechanic won't be enough to feed them, Weasley."
But Ron remained calm.
The spell he had been holding onto for ages was finally ready.
"Flock of Birds!"
Flock of Birds — 4 Mana Spell
Deal 2 damage to all enemy characters.
A burst of radiant light swept across the field.
The Dementors and their cage vanished unwillingly into the glow.
"Hmph. Then deal with this."
Draco immediately threw down another minion card.
Inferi.
The battlefield was instantly flooded by eerie green lake water as three chained corpse-puppets slowly rose from beneath the surface.
6 Mana — Summon three 2/3 Inferi.
Because the starter decks were cheap and intended for beginners, Russell had deliberately filled them with numerous filler cards.
If players wanted truly powerful, synergistic, or entertaining cards, they would have to buy booster packs.
Of course, the Dark Moon Circus also encouraged students to trade cards privately among themselves.
That would only help spread Wizard Legends even further.
On the next turn, Ron drew nothing useful.
All he could do was use his Hero Power and casually play a strange spell card he had obtained earlier through another card effect.
Filibuster Fireworks.
A Rowena Ravenclaw card.
3 Mana Spell — After an enemy minion attacks, deal 3 damage to all enemy minions.
Draco, naturally, had no idea what the hidden trap was.
Confidently, he summoned two more Inferi before casting another spell.
The Price of Dark Magic — 1 Mana Spell
Give a minion +4/+4. It dies at the end of the turn.
One Inferius suddenly swelled grotesquely in size, growing more than twice as tall as before.
Then Draco immediately ordered it to attack Gryffindor.
He could already imagine Gryffindor being obliterated beneath his assault.
The Inferius roared and slashed its claws across Gryffindor, leaving deep marks behind.
Just as Draco prepared to command the remaining Inferi forward—
A massive burst of fireworks exploded from Gryffindor's side of the battlefield.
The automatically triggered prank fireworks detonated in a rainbow-colored inferno directly among the Inferi.
The flames that had originally been designed merely for mischief instantly engulfed the entire undead horde.
Draco stared in disbelief as the five Inferi he had painstakingly assembled were reduced to ashes.
For the second time that day, cracks appeared in the arrogant expression he always wore.
"Well played… Weasley."
He ended his turn bitterly.
"Thanks for the compliment, Malfoy!"
Ron immediately counterattacked with Marauder Ambush.
The phantom outline of the Marauder's Map unfolded across the battlefield.
5 Mana Spell — Summon a 3/3, a 2/2, and a 1/1.
Three masked figures wearing animal masks leapt from glowing fractures in the cards.
As the battle dragged on, both sides exhausted nearly every resource they had.
On the Slytherin side, an adult Basilisk that had already completed its molt coiled through the swamp.
Each sweep of its vertical pupils left cracking petrification marks across Ron's cards.
Meanwhile, the Gryffindor battlefield had become a wasteland of burning broken swords, each hilt wrapped in golden-red threads that continuously generated Courage.
Then suddenly—
The shattered remains of Ron's Iron Armor Barrier, previously petrified by the Basilisk, began making strange noises.
What leaked through the cracks was not broken light…
But the glowing radiance of an activated Remembrall.
Boosted to the limit by accumulated Courage, it mutated into a furious Mandrake.
Gigantic roots burst from the ground with a shriek powerful enough to shatter the crystal membranes protecting the Basilisk's eyes, causing the deadly curse it had been preparing to spiral out into an uncontrolled green beam attacking indiscriminately.
At last, Draco completely lost his composure.
Shaking, he attempted to activate his final defense:
Ancient Serpent Altar.
By sacrificing 30% of his remaining health, he planned to summon the Serpent God itself.
But halfway through the ritual, Ron's hidden trap activated.
Countless magically transfigured Pygmy Puff-swarms burst out from beneath the battlefield, crazily gnawing apart the ancient runes carved into the altar.
Another Ravenclaw card.
And honestly, Ron's luck had been unbelievable today.
Without that draw, Draco might actually have turned the match around.
"Impossible…"
His furious scream was drowned out by the sound of Ron's final Knight's Charge Horn.
A colossal steel griffin forged from every shattered weapon on the battlefield descended from the sky, the Sword of Gryffindor clenched in its jaws.
It pierced straight through the Basilisk's weak point before crashing violently into Slytherin itself.
As Slytherin's health dropped to zero—
Ron claimed complete victory.
"Malfoy? That's all you've got?"
Ron lifted his chin triumphantly.
Never in his life had he felt this proud.
Defeating Draco once had already felt unbelievable.
But beating him twice in a row?
That was something he had only ever dared imagine in private.
