Chapter 305 - Chapter 273: Invasion

"Cloak, take me up there."

Su Ming fastened his helmet and tugged at the collar of the Magic Floating Cloak.

The red cloak unfurled behind him, spreading like a bird stretching its wings, creating red ripples in the night.

After all, it was a mage's treasure. Without any special movement, Su Ming floated into the air at a decent speed, chasing after the fleeing airship.

All these airships looked the same, with a large gas bag painted with an Iron Cross, and below it, a string of compartments hanging, resembling a train car.

Except this train car was wider and larger.

The moment he rose into the air, countless radars picked him up. Ordinary radars shouldn't be able to detect such small airborne units. But after seeing Germany's 'Gundam' earlier, he realized that Germany's technological level could no longer be measured by past reality standards.

Almost the next second, all the airships unleashed their anti-aircraft firepower. Countless bullets silently surged towards him, with only tracers visible, used for calculating trajectories. They accounted for probably one-tenth of the bullet rain, but these golden streaks almost sealed off the entire sky.

The firepower was too dense, blocking every possible direction he could move. The only option now was to endure it.

Thankfully, there weren't any energy weapons. Even though the ordinary large-caliber bullets hitting him caused vibrations, they didn't do much damage, only making him constantly burst into flames.

Su Ming was more concerned about the cloak's condition. He knew the Magic Floating Cloak could resist powerful magic, but he wasn't sure if it was bulletproof.

However, being called a sacred artifact, the Magic Floating Cloak was naturally durable. Bullets bounced off it like skipping stones across water, making it appear much more relaxed than Su Ming.

But even so, by the time Su Ming reached his target, two minutes had passed, nearly doubling his planned time.

He clung to the tail end of the airship's compartment, kicked open the compartment door with his feet, and rolled inside.

The compartment held no furnishing, only densely packed enemies awaited him.

Although these enemies wore German military uniforms, each had rotting skin and white eyes, continuously making eerie sounds.

Su Ming sensed something was off.

These were undoubtedly zombies. Even without looking, the stench of decay was distinguishable, reminiscent of Deadpool.

But why were zombies on an airship? Could they be experimental subjects? Were they trying to apply Namor's genes to the zombies?

From a brainstorming perspective, it wasn't a bad idea. These creatures were much easier to handle than living humans.

Their genes were the same as humans', but with a slower metabolism, convenient for observing the effects of X Gene modifications.

Thoughts didn't hinder his actions. Grabbing his weapon, he launched an attack on the opposite side. What the Germans thought was none of his business; he needed to break through to the laboratory quickly and find the Namor fragment.

The other airships ceased fire, but they could decide to destroy everything in the next instant, so Su Ming had to hurry.

It must be said, these zombies were not like the seductive b*stches Su Ming had encountered before. They could use various weapons, maintain formations, and issue commands with roars.

As Su Ming charged at them, dozens of blue laser beams came shooting straight at him.

Su Ming lowered himself, sliding into the enemy group.

The metal compartment floor was very slick, though it was disgusting with black unknown fluid, probably zombie bodily fluids.

The blue rays missed Su Ming, striking the door he had burst through, instantly turning the entire wall into a large hole, allowing a strong wind to gust inside.

The airship wasn't flying high enough to create a pressure difference; if it were as high as a future civilian airliner, he could save himself some effort and watch the zombies get sucked outside.

But as it stood, he'd have to do it manually.

The golden scimitar swept through the air in a perfect arc as Su Ming rose, spinning to slice off several heads.

But more zombies around him were indifferent to their companions and surroundings; they just kept firing.

Su Ming had no choice but to dodge.

The Energy Gun powered by the Cosmic Rubik's Cube posed a threat to him. Although he could self-heal, he didn't want to be riddled with bullet holes. His armor would need X Metal to repair, which was precious in this era.

"You want to play with guns, huh? Then let's play with guns."

Su Ming rolled on the ground again, sheathed the Godslayer, and drew dual pistols, while the symbiote picked up energy weapons off a few previous corpses.

"Bang, bang, bang..."

"Buzz, buzz, buzz..."

Amidst the zombie horde, Su Ming maximized his calculations. For a super soldier with off-the-charts spatial calculation abilities, gun fighting art was just a basic skill.

He used close-quarters body techniques to lock the enemy's gun direction and treated his bullets as extended weapons, calculating every angle and possibility to strike the enemy's vital points.

Zombies were weak in defense. Blasting their heads solved the issue entirely.

But while Su Ming understood this, the symbiote didn't.

What it had learned so far was only to spray bullets, spray, and spray again...

So after they took care of dozens of zombies, the entire compartment was left in tatters, with big holes everywhere.

From the holes, the bright lights of Paris City below could be seen, where forces were still hunting down rebels, and there seemed to be a team on the Eiffel Tower engaging the enemy.

Howling winds howled through the jagged metal openings, sounding like ghostly wails, making the entire compartment begin to sway dangerously.

Su Ming merely glanced at it casually, then opened the compartment door and moved to the next in line. As he moved past, the compartment filled with zombie corpses could no longer bear the weight, collapsing and plummeting to the ground, crashing onto a roof and raising a cloud of dust.

The new compartment resembled an ordinary barracks, with only rows of steel bunk beds and nothing else.

Su Ming touched the sheets, and not only were they devoid of warmth, but they were covered in a thick layer of dust.

No humans had been here for a long time.

Raising an eyebrow, he continued forward, at least able to investigate the airship's internal structure. Since these airships were standardized, if he figured out one, the interiors of the other airships wouldn't be much different.

He could now confirm this airship was a trap, not the actual laboratory carrying a Namor fragment.

It had initially retreated just to lure Su Ming in.

"Heh heh..." Su Ming chuckled under the mask. "So you set a trap for me, interesting..."

But he wanted to see who had uncovered his plan and what they had arranged for him here. Anyone who could see through his plan was certainly smart.

But smart people always had the flaw of sometimes intentionally or unintentionally showing off their smarts.

They would leave behind some clues here to mock Deathstroke or prove their foresight, but as long as Su Ming knew who it was, he'd find a way...
