Zemo is a clever man; if Red Skull's image is brutal and murderous, then Zemo is the epitome of sinister cunning.
'Baron Zemo' is his codename, as well as his title. He is one of the closer associates of Xiaohuzi within Hydra, as he is a hereditary German noble, whereas Red Skull is merely a street urchin.
Zemo is a genius in chemistry and physics, adept at various firearms, and also a master in wielding a thrusting sword.
There are two generations of Zemo in the comics; the one Su Ming encountered should be the first generation. The reason he wears a mask is because of Captain America.
He developed a special adhesive called Adhesive X that could stick any two things that come into contact. If he wishes, he can entirely affix two opponents together, or block a bullet in a gun barrel before it is fired.
He possesses a special spray gun like a water gun, used for dispensing the adhesive.
Unfortunately, over a month ago, while he was tinkering with the adhesive's formula, the newly debuted and hasty Captain America sent into his lab by mistake while hunting Red Skull, knocking over adhesive flasks, resulting in an adhesive pouring over Zemo.
This caused his skin, hair, broken glass, and cloth used for wiping to undergo molecular interpenetration, his face merged completely with these materials...
He was completely disfigured.
He had to put on a mask, bid farewell to his past handsome blonde appearance, categorizing Steve as a mortal enemy.
If Steve had eyes only for Red Skull, consistently pursuing him violently, then now Zemo's focus is solely on Steve. Wherever Captain America goes, Zemo will pursue him.
He would prepare a myriad of traps akin to a spider weaving a web for Steve to fall into; it is uncanny how the tale spirals incessantly.
Only this time, the visitor to his trap is someone unexpected instead of the Star-Spangled Banner Uniform.
...............
Su Ming floated in the air, bobbing up and down with the Magic Floating Cloak, turning to descend towards the ground below.
Baron Zemo's traps are often intricate setups, if one fails, he would supplement with another, if he's correct...
Before he even finishes thinking, a multitude of flying discs emerged from the rear of other airships in the sky, attacking with high-speed while deploying their energy weapons against Su Ming.
"Ah... knew it would be like this. Cloak, you know what to do now, don't you?"
The cloak certainly knows; over these days, it has become familiar with Sodark's habits.
Facing such predicaments, what else can be done? Into the sewers, of course...
The cloak made Su Ming dive headfirst downwards, pulling up abruptly just meters from the ground, swiftly speeding along the street.
Naturally, the flying discs pursued him, but lacking in maneuverability compared to the cloak, several with tight pursuit crashed into the ground like discus.
Fragments of the road and deeper soil were upheaved, houses along the street had entrances buried, revealing frightened expressions of the French hiding within.
However, the flying discs did not explode, appearing robust, but under such circumstances, the operators inside are assuredly doomed.
German soldiers were everywhere along the street, furiously firing at Su Ming as he flew over, but apart from sparking occasional spark showers, it had no effect.
Weaving left and right along the streets, the lights by the road formed ribbons, buildings rapidly retreated on both sides.
The high-speed flight gave Su Ming the thrill akin to piloting a fighter jet, except this jet was fully automated.
With strong dynamic vision aiding him, he still had leisure to admire the astonished faces of German soldiers below, observing their various expressions, then watching them get blown away by chasing flying discs.
They clung to their hats, tumbling over a few times, abandoning helmets and armor, akin to having been struck by a typhoon.
Before long, it seemed the cloak had had enough fun, suddenly veering down, Su Ming broke through a street manhole cover, directly diving into the sewer.
Flying discs had no way to pursue, only hovering in mid-air, the moisture on the nocturnal road evaporated swiftly into steam, rendering the surrounding scenery distorted and unreal.
............
Su Ming cared little for the enemy's emotions, speeding deftly underground with the cloak, locating another passage entering the underground cemetery, returning to the Guerrilla Headquarters.
It remained unchanged here, bone rings surrounded, lighting dim.
The Roaring Assault Team huddled in one corner of the hall, asleep against the wall, only Fury and Peggy were around a small table, an oil lamp upon it. They were discussing something unknown.
The men Su Ming dispatched had yet to return, while Monac was still resting.
Su Ming, covered in the scent of blood, strode deep into the Burial Hall, he needed to converse with the guerrilla leaders to gather intelligence.
Along the way, he generously distributed cigarettes and candies scavenged from corpses, many still stained with blood.
However, the guerrillas didn't mind at all, took them and wiped them on their pants, immediately shared them out on the table.
They gratefully thanked Deathstroke in laughter for his gifts, calling him savior in French, swiftly gathering in threes and twos to puff away.
Of course, there were those more prudent, guerrillas with family on the surface, cautiously saving their share of cigarettes, planning to exchange for food at the black market the next day.
One cigarette could trade for a day's food for a family of three.
Amid laughter and welcome, Su Ming naturally sat before the guerrilla leader, obtaining the information he sought.
Even a tactical master, in this era, is certainly not as well-informed in intelligence as these local bullies.
The guerrillas didn't know Baron Zemo's name, but their contacts had seen an officer in a purple hood, a bakery owner witnessed this apparent high-ranking German official moving into a small building, this news was passed through several hands before arriving at the underground tomb.
Combined with prior intelligence, Su Ming judged that shortly after Steve and his group reached Paris, Zemo also arrived in Paris.
Yet before he set his traps, Red Skull had already subdued Steve.
Zemo was somewhat unwilling, he continued executing his plan, unaware of Captain America's injury severity, nor the purpose of Steve and his crew.
But he knew Captain America was somewhere within Paris City, unable to escape.
Indeed, that night an uprising occurred, hitting German logistics across the city, taking turns hitting all anti-air batteries.
Zemo quickly understood the opponent's goal was the airborne laboratory.
"No need to think, it must be Captain America... I will kill him, kill him..."
At that moment, Zemo became fervent.
Hence, he took Su Ming's plan as SSR's plan, setting traps in the sky, knowing Captain America could pilot a plane, but airships lacked a helipad, wanting to jump onto an airship meant abandoning the incoming transport, losing the retreat path.
He prepared everything.
If Steve were to step into this trap, he'd be dead or skinned at the very least.
Su Ming could utilize the Magic Floating Cloak to fly, safely landing and evading pursuers. Captain America, however, couldn't do it; even if the bombs didn't kill, falling from the sky while under flying disc's fire, that would be grave.
"Oh... egg pain..."
Su Ming looked at the unconscious Captain America in front of him, sighing in his heart.
Red Skull and Zemo have nothing to do with Namor's fragments; they only wish to entangle with Captain America.
For this purpose, Zemo commanded the laboratory airship to remain hidden, believing it was Captain America's goal, playing cat and fish.
Red Skull likely had already departed, but also possibly lurking somewhere preparing a deadly strike.
Su Ming, Peggy, and Nick harbored concerns over slaying Red Skull, but Red Skull killing Captain America had no qualms, with Steve injured now, would he forsake such an opportunity?
The nine leaders of Hydra already appeared here, two of them, aside from Stryker being in Japan, would the remaining lunatics also arrive?
This is the egg-pain aspect for Su Ming; Steve, in a very short period since joining SSR, has multiple deployments, practically provoking all Hydra leaders.
If Su Ming least wished someone to appear, it would undoubtedly be that woman codenamed 'Viper'.
Compared to other Hydra leaders, Ophelia Salakis's specialties most restrained underground guerrillas.
With the codename snake, she is an expert in poison gas and venom, trench warfare and tunnel warfare.
Like an innate talent, she thrives in any sewer, consistently favoring operating underground in dark, damp environments.
Su Ming has no issue himself, but the guerrillas, unconscious Steve, and other ordinary people couldn't necessarily escape specialized gas's spread speed.
Thus, best to swiftly settle Paris's affairs before Hydra raises all their heads.
