The golden lightning pierced through the dark clouds, and a figure clad in golden armor descended slowly from the lightning. The electricity flickered, roaring within the core on his chest.
Elemental Hero Thunder Giant, Fusion Summon!
[Elemental Hero Thunder Giant, Attack Power 2400]
"Oh?" The Undead murmured, "Quick-Play Fusion during the battle phase? But even if you summon a powerful Fusion Hero..."
"Activate the effect of Thunder Giant," Judai shouted, "Elemental Hero Thunder Giant, upon successful Fusion Summon, choose one monster on the field with original Attack Power lower than its own and destroy it!" (Original effect)
In the physical card version, the effect of Thunder Giant became usable once per turn, but it required discarding a card as a cost.
In the animated version, the effect could only be activated at the moment of successful summoning, and couldn't be freely used, but there was no hand card discard cost either.
"Effect of Thunder Giant, destroy the 'Cotton Candy' on the field!"
Thunder Giant shouted clearly, raising his palms. The core on his armored chest rapidly spun, golden lightning from the storm clouds converging in his hands, forming a spinning giant sphere of electricity that shot out piercingly.
Cotton Candy was struck in the chest, its soft and fluffy body penetrated by the thunder. The lightning burst forth, instantly grinding it into dust.
"Great! This knocks out Cotton Candy!"
Judai clenched his fist, shouting energetically.
"Since we're still in the attack declaration phase, the change in monster numbers causes the combat to rewind. Elemental Hero Wild Hero continues to attack directly!"
Wild Hero continued to soar forward, slashing down with his blade. Undead's layers of defense were breached, the Wilderness Blade slicing through over his head like cutting through bamboo.
[Undead, LP 4000→LP 2500]
The Undead groaned twice, clutching his chest, sliced by the blade, half-kneeling on the ground.
"Tch, you've got some skills..."
He frowned, looking at Judai.
What's going on here, this doesn't seem like the last of "Duel Academy" at all.
Didn't Black Flame say he had looked into the opponent's background? Weren't they supposed to be the weakest in Osiris Red?
Is this really the bottom of Duel Academy?
The Undead even began to feel relieved that he personally came today for safety. If it were someone else from the division, they might not have been a match for this Jellyfish Head.
The Duel City had just opened, their division immediately been double killed by two students from Duel Academy. If this got out, he might lose his position, and the entire department might face heavy repercussions.
Thankfully, he came in person.
The Undead stood up, sneering, "I underestimated you a bit... but it's useless. At the end of this turn, the effect of the 'Spirit Summoning Disc' activates once again."
He raised his hand, speaking loudly.
"Death Information!"
The Spirit Summoning Disc activated again. A third semi-transparent white ghost drifted out, holding the third letter leading to death.
Letter A.
D, E, A, thus making three-fifths of DEATH complete.
"Time doesn't wait, Judai." The Undead coldly sneered, "You're one step closer to death now."
"..."
Judai was speechless for the moment. The Thunder Giant on his field also exploded with a bang, shattering into pieces.
"Due to the Super Gravity Net, Thunder Giant can't attack. Moreover, monsters fused through Instant Fusion are destroyed at the end of the turn...
... My turn ends."
"Hahaha, it seems you're really helpless now." The Undead laughed, "Then it's my turn, draw a card!
First, activate the Magic Card 'Pot of Magic Book', both sides draw three cards from their Card Deck." (Original card)
He glanced at the cards he drew, couldn't help but laugh.
"Then I activate this card from my hand!
Magic Card - Temporary Truce!"
The green card image floated in his rear field, an invisible ripple spreading across the entire field, as if covering it with a faint golden light.
"Temporary Truce, both parties draw one card from their respective decks."
The Undead drew a card, giving a sinister laugh.
"However, until the next turn ends, all damage dealt to both sides... becomes 0!"
"I see." Judai understood, "By activating this card, I can't inflict any battle or effect damage..."
"Hahahaha, exactly, that's it! And you'll find yourself unable to do anything through the next turn!"
The Undead's laugh was sharp and deranged.
After laughing for a while, he stopped, smirking as he asked, "Did you hear it?"
"Eh?" Judai was puzzled.
"The footsteps of the God of Death, creeping ever closer." The Undead somberly said, "Your time is running out..."
"Haha, yes, it's quite troubling indeed." Judai scratched his head, "With just two turns left before losing, and apparently unable to do anything next turn... what a headache indeed."
The Undead raised an eyebrow.
Why isn't this guy scared even in this situation?
Could it be... he's enjoying this scenario?
"Without being able to battle or deal effect damage, it seems like the victory has to be decided in the last turn." Judai mused to himself, "The Spirit Summoning Disc, I never expected to see such legendary tactics with my own eyes... it's impressive..."
The Undead: "..."
This kid, is his brain defective?
"Losing means death"; which part of this does he not understand?
"Tch, carefree brat." The Undead snorted, "Since that's the case, let me add some more pressure.
Activate Magic Card 'Burial Spell Treasure Scroll'. Banish the three Magic Cards 'Pot of Greed', 'Tornado', 'Temporary Truce' from the game, draw two cards from the Deck." (Original card)
The Undead drew two more cards.
"Then I Normal Summon the second 'Cotton Candy'!"
[Cotton Candy, Attack Power 300]
"Ah, it's this monster again."
Judai tilted his head.
"A monster that can't be destroyed in battle... seems like more troublesome issues are surfacing."
He spoke casually, but still in his usual tone. There was no sense of tension of "I am about to die, and I'm panicked".
The Undead frowned once more.
Does he have absolute confidence in himself, or is he just a fool?
In fact, although in the animation, from the Phantom Demon Chapter, Judai began to feel pressured in Life Bet Cards, for a while even having nightmares about losing bet cards and his friends dying. The sunny boy nearly lost his smile.
But later, either an Elf or Kaiba Hero crossed paths with him, guiding him out of the confusion and fear.
But even then, what he feared was his friends being implicated and dying if he lost a duel. He worried about people around him being dragged down.
And now, even though it's a Life Bet Card, it seems it doesn't involve others, only betting his own life. Therefore, Judai immersed himself in the duel, appearing to put life and death aside.
"So many bizarre students in Duel Academy this year..."
The Undead mumbled, waving his hand to insert two cards into the Duel Disc.
"Set two cards, end the turn."
