Chapter 316 - Chapter 18: The Legacy of History (Part 2)

"I see. It really is hard to accept. The conflict between the Uchiha and Senju Clans turned out to be because of such a laughable reason, endlessly fighting each other."

A voice came from behind. Only then did Hakushi realize that Ruri and Ayane had somehow come up behind him, witnessing the history being revealed together with him.

"By the way, when did you two get here?"

Hakushi asked.

"Right about the time your mind started getting muddled. I called your name but you didn't respond."

Ruri said, folding her arms across her chest.

Ayane straightened up, standing there with great interest, and said, "If the history presented here is true, then it means that the Senju Clan, the Uchiha Clan, the Hyuga Clan, and the Uzumaki Clan all descend from the same ancestor—the Goddess of Rabbit, Otsutsuki Kaguya. That's truly unexpected."

Katsuyu said, "I can guarantee that the contents here are completely true."

Though it's a bit hard to believe, this is the history of the birth of ninjas, and the mysterious veil of the past that was never before unveiled.

This was also everything that Katsuyu experienced back then.

"It's not that I don't believe it, just that if you told this part of history to others, not many would buy it. After all, in the history of our Hyuga Clan, there has never been such a record. Maybe it's also because I'm not from the Main Family, so I haven't had access to that information."

Saying this, Ayane looked toward Ruri.

Unlike herself, Ruri once held a pretty high status in the Uchiha Clan. Maybe she knows something secret.

Ruri thought for a while and said, "Before leaving Konoha, I used my Sharingan to read the stone tablet hidden in the Nankai Shrine. It vaguely mentioned that the powers of the Senju and Uchiha are of the same origin, but beyond that, I didn't know much."

"No need to doubt it like that. I believe this part of history, as presented by Katsuyu, is real and trustworthy."

Hakushi replied, choosing to believe Katsuyu.

This historical material certainly has traces of wild fantasy, but ninjas and chakra are things that can't be measured by common sense to begin with.

Whether it was the history provided by Katsuyu or Witch Mire, both obliquely mentioned that the Six Paths Sage was real.

"Katsuyu, about Otsutsuki Kaguya being from beyond this world, do you have any other clues?"

"Sorry, Lord Hakushi. As for the specifics of Otsutsuki Kaguya's origins, I don't really know. That's all I have. Gama-Maru at Mount Myoboku might know more."

Katsuyu answered apologetically.

It did indeed meet the Six Paths Sage, but their relationship was just so-so. Katsuyu also wasn't especially concerned with the affairs of the Ninja Realm.

It was only out of pure boredom that it signed pacts with humans, witnessing the various landscapes of a thousand years.

Otherwise, even for Katsuyu, it would have been monotonous and dull.

By contracting with humans, life actually became a lot more lively and interesting.

"It's that Great Toad Sage again? The Child of Prophecy foretold in the era of the Six Paths Sage, including things like saving Minato... It really likes to do boring things, doesn't it?"

Hakushi put down the history records in his hand, frowning slightly.

He had also learned a bit about the Child of Prophecy from these records.

In the Great Toad Sage's prophecy, the existence of the Child of Prophecy would bring true peace to the Ninja Realm.

"If humanity's future can be decided by prophecy, then for those fighting and struggling for survival and peace right now, isn't that the greatest mockery and blasphemy there is? The blood and tears, laughter and dreams, and the pain-etched history humanity has experienced until now—all would be rendered meaningless."

To use prophecy to dictate the future is to deny all of human history thus far, and what's ahead. That is true arrogance.

To Hakushi, as a human, this was something utterly intolerable.

Be it humiliation, glory, peace, or war, all of it is an inseparable part of human history.

Only by facing these things head-on can humanity draw lessons and learn what is called growth.

So, in Hakushi's eyes, the Great Toad Sage at Mount Myoboku's so-called Child of Prophecy for the Six Paths Sage was nothing but a preposterous tale.

"So, Lord Hakushi, are you planning to put these historical documents into the school as textbooks right away?"

Skipping over the topic of the Child of Prophecy, Katsuyu turned to business.

The reason Hakushi had it repeat the past was to pass down true history in its entirety, letting more people understand the past, and learn lessons and experience from it, instead of just treating it as intelligence to be filed away.

"They definitely should be handed over, but I'm still considering when's the right time to introduce them. After all, creatures called White Zetsu have already appeared—this cannot be ignored."

Hakushi frowned.

Moreover, these historical materials contain a lot of forbidden matters.

Such as the Ten-tailed Beast, or the dangerous powers of Infinite Tsukuyomi.

How and when to spread them cannot be decided recklessly; one must be careful.

Honestly, Hakushi wasn't sure how to handle this either.

Besides, the arrangements in the Land of Demons had only just begun, far from reaching the point where the Five Great Nations could be ignored.

Spreading the truth is one thing; having it be accepted is another matter entirely.

Most importantly, those Divine Tree creatures called White Zetsu are still alive in this world.

Hakushi still doesn't know why they've shown up.
