Two months had passed, and the city had returned to it's usual look. It wasn't gloomy and dark again, it was now bright and beautiful. Caldeus walked home from his date with Gwen, things were finally becoming good between them, and he was thinking about asking her to be his girlfriend. He hadn't heard from Clyde in a long while, but he heard that his wedding was coming soon. Well he wasn't bothered, Clyde didn't want to invite him, fine. He wasn't going to stress it.
He looked at the night sky and smiled, his day had gone too good for him to be bothered.
He walked home, occasionally dancing in joy. It was a good day.
(HIS HOUSE)
Caldeus opened his door, and walked in, humming a cheerful tune. He sat down, and turned on his TV.
"Breaking News! Tonight is the night we've all be waiting for! Between the two competing news stations, we finally decide who is the better one. What started as a social media trend has now become a national recognised competition. And you must be curious, what is this competition? Who can interview Spiderman? And today we're about to find out! Stay tuned to both channels and see who'll present Spiderman."
Caldeus jumped to his feet, he had forgotten about the competition. He activated his custume, and swung to the Bugle.
Soon, the interview started, they asked him some questions and he answered well. But they noticed something wasn't right. Because CCI NEWS had THEIR OWN SPIDERMAN! Caldeus frowned, wondering who the impostor was. So, the internet made another decision, they'll have to see both spidermen in action, and they'll decide the real one.
Caldeus followed the Bugle in a van, where they drove to a warehouse.
"Remind me why CCI had to pick our location again?" Spiderman asked. "It's what the people wanted." Jonah replied. The crew were still in shock, not knowing how their rude boss had invited the real Spiderman. Their van parked in an abandoned warehouse, and upon alighting, they were met with gunmen.
Spiderman frowned, looking round.
"You have become too much of a competition Jonah, your life ends here." A short chubby man said , walking out of a dark corner.
"Jeremy, I knew I couldn't trust you!" Jonah yelled angrily.
"Get them, and their fake Spiderman." Jeremy said, walking away. From inside the warehouse, he heard the sound of shooting, but then it stopped. He waited for his men to come inside but they didn't. Instead, Spiderman burst in punching Jeremy in the face.
"You bloody criminal! I knew CCI was up to no good!" Spiderman said, grabbing his shirt.
"Please, spare me! He threatened me! He said he'll kill my wife!"
"Who threatened you?"
"I can't tell you Spiderman!"
He was about to punch Jeremy when -
——spider sense ——
"Huh?" He let go of Jeremy, and hit his Spiderman pose.
"What have you done Jeremy? Is it Dexter that threatened you?"
"Dexter? Nah I'm too broke to work with Dexter. Osborn was the - oh shit!"
Spiderman slowly turned to face him.
"Did you just say Osborn? As in Norman Osborn?"
"No I didn't!"
——spider sense——
Spiderman ducked as a man riding a flying glider flew past him, a grabbed Jeremy by the neck.
"You were useful Jeremy. Time for you to die." The man said.
"What are you exactly?" Spiderman asked, swinging closer,"Are you like a goblin or something, because your mask is damn ugly!"
"I am indeed a goblin. You can call me the Green goblin."
"Well Goblin, let go of him!"
"Hmm, okay." The Green Goblin flew up, bursting a hole in the ceiling, and continued going higher. And then he dropped Jeremy.
Spiderman quickly shot some webs, creating a web net that caught Jeremy.
"It's too late Spiderman." Green Goblin said laughing.
——spider sense ——
Boom!
Jeremy exploded, leaving Spiderman extremely stunned.
"You monster! Why did you kill him!"
"He knew too much. Are you really surprised? You killed killed villians, Spiderman. Come on this little show shouldn't rattle you."
"That was in the past-"
"Well I prefer that past. You disgrace yourself Spiderman. Sparing criminals and all that. That isn't what this city needs, and if you can't turn back to how you were, I'll make you. I'll make you the superior Spiderman again." The Goblin said, flying away in his glider.
"He'll make me the superior Spiderman again? What the hell is he talking about?"
**********
Spiderman swung to the Bugle, where he saw a small crowd. He quickly deactivated his suit and walked there.
"What's going on?" He asked pushing through the crowd.
Gasp.
He pushed the people away and ran to his uncle, who was lying on the floor, surrounded by paramedics.
"Uncle! What the hell happened!?" He asked panicking.
"You must be Caldeus, your uncle said we should call but we couldn't reach you. Go talk to the officers over there, we'll soon take him to the hospital."
Caldeus ran to the police officers who were questioning some of the Bugle's workers.
"What happened to my uncle?" Caldeus asked, agitated.
"Well I'm guessing you are Caldeus. On his way back from meeting with CCI, he was attacked along with his crew. The gunmen are still unknown, but we know he took the shot for one of his workers. We'll get him to the hospital soon-"
"Damn it! Damn you all! You can't even do your damn job without Spiderman! What the hell happened to keeping the people safe? Huh? Isn't that what you guys are supposed to do?" Caldeus screamed at the officers in anger, then he stormed off .
**DAYS LATER**
Caldeus had been visiting Jonah, and gladly he was recovering. Caldeus walked out of the hospital and ran into Mrs Mary, Jonah's wife.
"Caldeus, thank goodness, I want to talk to you."
They walked to a bench and sat down.
"So, what is it aunt Mary?"
"I want you to continue the Bugle, if my husband dies."
Caldeus chocked on his coffee.
"What! Don't say that, uncle J is a strong man, he won't die-"
But Mrs Mary wasn't listening. She stood up, grabbed her bag and left him.
"Now that was strange." He said standing up. He still didn't understand why she'll say something like that. Wasn't she supposed to pray that her husband wouldn't die?
He was about to leave when he saw Gwen. She saw him too and waved. He walked towards her and she beamed.
"I knew I'd see you here." She said, adjusting her bag.
"Yeah, my uncle J is at the hospital."
"I heard. What happened?"
"He was attacked by some gunmen. Cops told me he had taken the shot for a worker."
"Oh I'm sorry about that."
"No worries, uncle J is a strong man, he won't die. But I think I know who's responsible."
"Really? I would've said the CCI owner was responsible but he's dead. So who is it?"
"The Green Goblin."
"The who now?"
"The Green Goblin, a villian I encountered recently."
"And what makes you think so- oh! I'm so sorry I forgot to tell you. Someone's supposed to pick me up. Oh look, there he is. Maybe you'll tell me more some other time ok?" She said, running off.
Caldeus looked at her as she ran over to a guy in a red car. He shook his head and walked away. He looked at the only place he might receive help, Oscorp.
***OSCORP***
Caldeus walked in to Norman's office, where he met Norman sitting, typing something into his laptop.
"Caldeus, long time no see."
"Umm, you know, I've been caught up in this Spiderman thing."
"Ah, I understand. So how've you been, I heard what happened to your uncle. I'm really sorry."
"It's fine Mr Osborn, my uncle won't die, he's a strong man."
"Well Jameson is really formidable." Norman said,"So how can I help you Caldeus?"
"Yeah about that, I ran into a vilian some days ago, he called himself the Green Goblin."
"Green Goblin? Now that's strange. You don't hear that name everyday."
"Umm yes, and I believe he's responsible."
Norman frowned, as he leaned forward, still seated.
"And why do you say that?"
"Well-"
——spider sense——
"Are you ok?" Norman asked, standing up.
"Yes! But I have to go! Something's happening!"
He quickly ran out of the office.
But the moment he left, the spider sense stopped. He frowned, was the danger from the office? He shrugged, not wanting to over think it. But he didn't return, he left the building, feeling the strong urge not to meet Norman again.
******
He swung to Gwen's house, her window to be precise.
He knocked, and she opened, though surprised.
"Caldeus, what are you doing here, by this time? It's late you know."
"I'm really sorry but I think this is important."
"Well it's fine. I didn't really feel like sleeping at all. So what's on your mind?"
"It's the Goblin I told you about -"
"Oh that, I looked into it."
"Wow you did! What did you find?"
"Unfortunately, nothing. It's like he just spawned into existence. You said you suspected him earlier today, why?"
"Yeah, he told me something. He said if I didn't go back to being the superior Spiderman, he'll make me."
"That sounds like something Mr Osborn would say."
"Huh?"
"I had a conversation with him once, didn't I tell you? He said he prefers the superior Spiderman."
Caldeus frowned, as he remembered how his spider sense activated in Norman's office. He told Gwen about his experience and she sat down.
"I know it isn't good to point fingers, but I don't think we should trust Mr Osborn anymore."
"As much as I'll love to argue I'll have to agree." Caldeus replied, sitting next to her.
"Oh um, by the way my friend invited me to her wedding. She said she's marrying this dude called Clyde."
Caldeus froze.
"Clyde?"
"Yes. You know him?"
"Yes! He is my best friend! Or maybe he was my best friend."
"What happened?"
"We got into a fight."
"Well that's what friends do, they fight. It's -"
"No Gwen, not your girlish fights-"
"And what the hell do you mean by that?"
"What I mean is we threw hands. He tried talking sense into me about killing, but that didn't work, so he tried to knock the sense into me. And in that process he warned me not to come to his wedding."
"That's tough."
"Yeah-"
"So.. Caldeus, do you have any plans concerning marriage?"
He was startled by her question.
"Umm no. Why'd you ask?"
"Well I plan on getting married soon. My boyfriend proposed, and I accepted."
"You have a boyfriend?" Caldeus asked, trying to hide the pain in his voice.
"Yes I do. And he's the sweetest! He has a doctorate in physics, owns his own-"
"Gwen I need to run, Spider sense is tingling." He cut her off and swung away.
Gwen was startled, as he left.
"Was it something I said?"
*********
"Why didn't she tell me! I've been a fool! How didn't I know! And marriage? If she had a boyfriend all this while, why didn't she tell me! Then why the fuck did we go on dates-"
——spider sense——
He frowned as he cracked his knuckles, activating his suit, getting ready to vent out his anger on the criminals.
