Upon hearing the words of the man in black, Cain's heart skipped a beat.

His mind spun rapidly.

So what was now called advanced psychic power, in ancient times had only been equivalent to an intermediate level?

Could it be that Sabrina's powers were the ones that truly corresponded to the advanced level?

And that man dressed in black in front of him, who revered ancient psychics so much... Cain found it hard to imagine how ordinary humans of that era had managed to overthrow the rule of the psychics.

From his words, he seemed to be a descendant or heir of the survivors of those ancient psychics.

If so, he must know many secrets about them.

Cain felt a slight temptation.

"According to you, if I join your organization, will I be able to learn psychic control techniques?" he asked.

The man in black looked at him deeply, knowing he was trying to pry information out of him.

But, confident in the advantage of the alternate space, he had no qualms about answering.

"Exactly! And that's only the tip of the iceberg. If you complete the organization's missions, you'll even gain divine power." The man's face lit up with fanaticism, like that of a devout believer.

"Then... what is the name of your organization?" Cain asked, a mocking gleam in his eyes.

The other didn't notice.

With fervor in his gaze, he replied: "The Sacred Church!"

"..."

Cain was speechless.

I'd say more like "Demonic Church," he thought with irony.

The man, as if he had sensed his disdain, insisted solemnly: "I'll ask you one last time. Do you want to join us? You will possess supreme glory!"

Cain's expression was that of someone looking at an idiot.

"No. The name is too stupid."

He refused immediately.

The man in black choked on his own words, as if he had been struck by an invisible blow. He glared at him with hatred, suppressing his fury.

"Then stay here forever! You will have no chance to regret it." His voice dripped with venom.

"Perfect, I like this place. Although being alone is a bit boring... if you stayed with me, it'd be much better." Cain replied with a mocking grin.

The man in black gave a cold sneer. "How absurd."

He waved his hand in the air, and a door appeared behind him.

Just passing through it would return him to the outside.

"Stay here and have fun. I don't have time to waste on you. If it weren't for this mission, I wouldn't even have paid you any attention." His tone was full of disdain.

Deep down, he felt resentful: the organization had given more importance to the mission of recruiting Cain than to everything he had done for years with loyalty and effort.

They had even sent the "White Messenger" to mark him. That filled him with jealousy and rage.

Recalling the pain of his broken arm, the fury in his eyes grew.

Without hesitation, he reached out to open the door.

Huh?

Something was wrong. The door, which always opened as easily as drinking water, didn't move an inch this time.

He exerted more force.

Nothing.

"What's going on? Not leaving? Could it be you don't want to part with me?" Cain's mocking voice echoed, dripping with ridicule.

The man's face stiffened. He turned toward him, eyes wide.

"You did something! What the hell did you do? Why can't I control this space?"

His voice was tinged with disbelief and panic.

Not only the door, but the entire alternate space had slipped out of his grasp.

"Didn't you say this was your territory, under your control? How would I know what's going on?" Cain answered, with a smile that betrayed his words.

Seeing that expression, the man realized he had been deceived.

His face turned grim.

"Where did you learn to manipulate an alternate space? Could it be the lost psychics also received a legacy?"

Legacy?

Cain's brow arched slightly.

That sounded like something important.

"I think that's enough," he said calmly.

"What?" The man was bewildered.

"You've said enough. What you knew, you've revealed. What you don't know is beyond your reach." The mockery on Cain's face was obvious.

The man flushed with fury, unable to refute.

Because, indeed, he was nothing more than a pawn.

"You...!"

He didn't even finish before Cain interrupted: "Enough. Now it's my turn... Welcome to my territory!"

He spread both arms, and his psychic power expanded in all directions. The Unown on his wrist shone brightly.

In an instant, the alternate space multiplied four or five times, and the walls became firmer, as if reinforced.

All at once, the space the man in black had been so proud of was shattered and rebuilt under Cain's control.

The man stood stunned, rubbing his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.

"Well? Surprised? Didn't see that coming?"

Cain smiled.

After all, an alternate space wasn't such a big deal.

The man's face darkened.

At last, he understood why the organization valued Cain so highly.

It was because he possessed this power.

"Then there's no choice... I'll have to defeat you."

He took a deep breath, grabbed a pokéball, and threw it to the ground.

From it emerged an Alakazam, appearing inside the space.

A psychic fighting alongside a psychic-type Pokémon?

The most traditional method.

Cain chuckled softly and also threw a pokéball.

"TYRAAANN!"

A roar shook the entire space.

Standing over three meters tall, Cain's imposing Tyranitar appeared.

Its very presence made the place tremble.

Majestic and intimidating.

The man in black looked at it in shock.

Such a massive Tyranitar...

But soon his expression turned to disdain.

"What a vulgar thought. Do you really think that a large, strong body is enough to be powerful? You're nothing but a simple brainless brute."

The Alakazam at his side also showed contempt.

It didn't even consider Tyranitar a threat, despite it being a Dark-type.
