Although this Alakazam had reached level 65, when Cain looked at the data, he found nothing truly special about it.
In fact, for the current Cain, it was simply...
Ordinary.
Very ordinary.
So where did his opponent's superiority come from?
Just because it was a psychic-type Pokémon?
"Tyranitar, it seems this guy doesn't take us seriously, show them a little color," Cain said with a smile.
Upon hearing him, Tyranitar's gaze turned fierce.
"TYRRAAAN!"
The roar, accompanied by a torrent of air, made Alakazam's mustache quiver wildly.
The man in black showed a cold smile and placed his hand on his Alakazam.
The psychic power of both began to intertwine.
Alakazam's psychic energy grew more and more intense.
Cain narrowed his eyes as he watched the scene.
"That method of channeling psychic power... is it something exclusive to them?"
The way that man and his Alakazam merged their powers was completely different from the symbiosis Cain had experienced with his Slowking.
Under the system's scan, Alakazam's stats began to rise rapidly.
Measured in levels, it was equivalent to a boost of three.
In other words, Alakazam could be considered level 68 at that moment.
"But even with level 68 power... it's still not enough," Cain thought silently.
"Tyranitar, give them a welcome gift: Stone Edge!" Cain ordered.
BAM!
Tyranitar lifted a foot and slammed it against the ground.
Immediately, fragments of rock rose up around him which, under his control, shot straight toward Alakazam.
At that moment, Alakazam and his trainer had already completed telepathy.
A luminous wall appeared in front of Alakazam.
Reflect.
The physical damage was reduced.
The rocks pierced the barrier with diminished force, but Tyranitar did not stop and continued launching them again and again.
At first it didn't seem like much, but repeated so many times, Alakazam began to feel it.
Alakazam's eyes emitted a strange multicolored gleam.
Miracle Eye.
Black spheres of energy formed around him and shot toward Tyranitar.
In an instant, they were upon him.
With the move Miracle Eye, psychic-type moves could hit Dark-type Pokémon despite type immunity.
BOOM!
BOOM!
The Psychic move hit Tyranitar directly, but he remained unmoved, as if nothing had happened.
The man in black was stunned.
It made no sense.
The smile on Cain's face never disappeared.
Who said brute force wasn't an advantage?
"Tyranitar, Dark Pulse!"
BANG!
A surge of dark energy condensed around Tyranitar, immediately engulfing Alakazam.
Not even the psychic barrier could stop that attack.
"ALAAAKK!" Alakazam shrieked in pain.
Behind him, his trainer also cried out, clutching his head as if he had received part of the damage.
Cain observed him carefully.
"Tyranitar, advance!"
Tyranitar charged forward with heavy, firm steps, surprisingly fast.
Alakazam, barely recovering from Dark Pulse, saw the giant rush at him and grew alarmed.
Against a brute-force Pokémon, being cornered was certain defeat.
Teleport!
The spoons in Alakazam's hands twisted, and his figure suddenly vanished.
However, upon reappearing, the ground beneath his feet burst open with a crimson spike that impaled him.
He had no time to levitate.
Precipice Blades!
Alakazam tried to use Teleport again, but Tyranitar was already beside him.
BANG!
He grabbed him by the neck with a gigantic claw.
Dark energy coursed through Tyranitar's arm, making it impossible for Alakazam to escape.
Around them floated sharp rocks, all covered with a dark halo.
Stone Edge imbued with dark energy!
"Too weak... With so many grand words, and in the end, you're disappointing," Cain said coldly.
WHOOSH!
BAM!
With a look of disdain, Tyranitar hurled Alakazam toward his trainer.
He rolled several times on the ground before stopping.
With such a fragile body, the brutal strength of Tyranitar was more than enough to leave him battered.
The colossus then shook off his claws in disgust, as if he had touched something filthy.
The man in black's face darkened.
He had never heard of Tyranitar using such a technique. And furthermore, that titan moved with greater agility than a normal Tyranitar.
Just one careless moment, and his Alakazam ended up caught.
"No wonder the organization considers you so valuable... I admit I underestimated you. But you'll have to pay for your arrogance," he growled, full of rage.
Alakazam, bloodied and exhausted, managed to float upright in front of his trainer.
Then the man took a strange stone from his pocket and pressed it against Alakazam's forehead.
While shouting:
"Accept divine power, Alakazam!!"
How ridiculous.
"ALAAAKKK!"
Suddenly, a strange radiance burst forth from the psychic's body.
Cain recognized it instantly.
That energy...
It was Mega Evolution energy!
Cain watched, surprised, as Alakazam was enveloped by the radiance of Mega Evolution.
That man... could he really mega evolve his Pokémon?
