Chapter 237 - Chapter 236 Ambush

Hearing Kanna's words, W sheepishly withdrew her hand.

"Tsk! What a pity. No wonder everyone on Rhodes Island has one in their bag. I thought you were just reluctant to give them away!"

Holding the weightless Electro Seed, W looked at the pursuing army, considering her next plan. After all, she had previously thought she could use multiple of these things at once, which was why she dared to come with Kanna alone. She didn't expect that only one could be placed at a time, which completely disrupted her plans and deployment.

She knew that in her plan, at least ten would be needed to completely annihilate these Ursus soldiers who dared to pursue them so openly, without any concealment.

"If it's just to drive these people away, it should be completely enough, right?" Kanna, who hadn't guessed W's combat intentions, was a little puzzled. With W's landmine and demolition skills, and the combat power of her Electro Seed, driving this group away shouldn't be too difficult. So why did she look so troubled?

"Just driving them away is useless. There are so many of us, and we can't hide. We'll be caught up to again sooner or later. Besides, there's only a thousand days to be a thief, but no thousand days to guard against one. My style is either I don't act, or if I do, I'm absolutely unambiguous. Judging by the Ursus army's style, even without a leader, unless they are completely annihilated to instill fear in those behind them, these people will come after us again sooner or later."

As a mercenary who traveled extensively, W was quite knowledgeable about the military capabilities of various countries, especially Ursus, a nation with an unfavorable relationship with Kazdel. They had clashed more than once or twice, so she was perfectly clear about the actions Ursus's army would take.

After hearing W's words, Kanna rubbed her chin with her small hand. Indeed, as W said, scaring the enemy away was a temporary solution, not a permanent one. Sooner or later, these people would catch up again. They couldn't possibly keep an eye on them every moment.

Even if it didn't affect her, the Refugees who fled from Ursus wouldn't think that way. If they rioted, not only would all their efforts on this trip be in vain, but if a few Operators were lost because of it, wouldn't that be losing both the wife and the soldiers?

Thinking of this, Kanna surveyed the terrain and then her eyes lit up.

She pointed to a nearby river, which Frostnova had completely frozen over. There were no bridges to cross, and it was a necessary path. So, if the enemy wanted to pass through here without taking a detour, their only option was this ice surface, dozens of meters wide.

Seeing the direction Kanna was pointing, W also smiled.

"Not bad, not bad, your little brain is quite agile! I know the terrain here. If we don't cross the river here, we'll have to go ten kilometers downstream to find a bridge. We can make a big splash here!"

"How are you going to do it?" Seeing W's excited expression, Kanna also felt her explosion-loving soul ignite.

"Given the army's vigilance, they won't choose to cross the river all at once. They'll come in batches. So, we'll do this..."

After W finished explaining the plan, Kanna nodded quickly in agreement.

Then the two retreated towards the river. However, just as they were about to reach the riverbank, W disappeared into the vast, white Gobi Desert, and Kanna retreated alone to the other side of the river.

"Report, one of the two people covering the rear has disappeared, and the other has retreated to the riverbank. Judging by her actions, she seems to be breaking the ice layer on the river."

The soldiers trailing behind had naturally noticed the two Rhodes Island Operators leaving the group and going to the rear. However, in the blink of an eye, W, with her rich experience, had already hidden in the blind spots of the pursuers.

And Kanna, as they had agreed, began to destroy the only passage here.

Upon realizing Kanna's actions, the temporary commander of this squad immediately sent two small teams to the river to stop Kanna's destruction. The other teams also sped up. As for the disappeared W, he wasn't too worried.

After all, his side had over two hundred people, and reinforcements were continuously arriving.

Just one enemy wouldn't cause much trouble.

Instead of worrying about the hidden person, it was better to worry about the one on the other side destroying the passage.

Seeing the enemy's speed pick up, Kanna showed a knowing smile. She first used lightning to damage the ice bridge to a state that was half-destroyed—it looked heavily damaged but was still passable. However, if it suffered another attack, it would be completely ruined.

As soon as the enemy approached, she immediately turned and fled.

The pursuers did not continue to chase Kanna. Instead, they began to observe the extent of the ice bridge's damage. After determining that it would not affect the advance of the subsequent teams, they stood guard nearby.

Because they saw that although Kanna had escaped, she remained elusive in the vicinity. So, they believed that if they chased her, she might take the opportunity to return and destroy the ice bridge again.

Although their plan was to wait for the subsequent forces to arrive, it was exactly as W had predicted.

Soon, the enemy forces crossed the ice bridge one after another. The commander who was the last to walk onto the ice bridge, which was being reinforced by a Caster, felt something was off.

Just as they all crossed the bridge, W, hidden on the other side, jumped out from the shadows and raised her hand, firing a grenade launcher at the ice bridge.

With an explosion, the entire ice bridge shattered into several pieces.

It was only then that the commander remembered W, the enemy who had been hiding earlier. But now the bridge was destroyed, and the enemy was on the other side. No matter how angry he was, he was powerless against her.

After cutting off the enemy's retreat, W swung her arm and threw an Electro Seed to the other side. Seeing the purple object flying over, everyone involuntarily took two steps back. Because the grenade launcher of the hidden person earlier had been quite powerful, everyone assumed the thrown object was a hand grenade.

But upon landing, the purple object did not explode.

Just as everyone gathered cautiously, preparing to continue forward, Kanna blocked their path.

Looking at the enemies, whose retreat was cut off and who were now gathered together, Kanna couldn't help but admire W. She had predicted all of the enemy's actions in advance.

Knowing that the enemy wouldn't continue forward if there was someone in front, and would gather together if their retreat was cut off, this gave Kanna an opportunity.

Just as W began to detour towards the bridge downstream, the battle between Kanna and over two hundred vanguards of the Ursus Third Army Group began.

While most of the enemy's attention was drawn to W on the other side of the river and the Electro Seed she threw, Kanna had unknowingly approached them.
