If anything, Adrian was impressed, but more than that, he was still surprised at the sudden turn of events.
He couldn't believe that one minute he had been casually curious about where she worked, mildly intrigued by her evasiveness. and the next minute he would be left stumped.
Staring at her like a man who had just stepped into quicksand without warning.
With Adrian's gaze locked on her face, Stella's heart skipped a beat.
Her pulse raced violently against her chest, thudding so loudly she feared he might hear it.
The weight of his stare pressed down on her shoulders, heavy and inescapable. It wasn't anger she saw there—but something far more unsettling.
