My head snapped up at the voice.
Julian Gallagher. How the hell was he here so quickly?
William had only contacted him about two hours ago. As far as I knew, he should still be somewhere in Ireland. Unless he had already been on his way when the call came in.
He looked disoriented. The jacket he wore had one sleeve rolled up, unbuttoned. His tie hung loose, crooked, like he had been tugging at it the entire trip.
And his hair…that was another story.
He turned to me, eyes narrowing as they locked onto mine. I didn't bother hiding my distaste either. I didn't want him here, walking in like some hero. As if he had been the one to bring in his so-called fiancée.
But I didn't have a choice. William insisted. For Harper's safety. Since she had shown up at my house and was still alive, Julian needed to be here. Accountability, he had called it.
It still sounded ridiculous to me. I would never hurt her. She was still my fucking wife.
