"You can pretend I don't exist," Melody Thorne said as she looked around, then walked over and sat down on the sofa, trying her best to reduce her presence. "As long as you close your eyes, you won't see me."
"You want me to act blind?" Jared Quinn not only didn't withdraw his gaze, but rather, he kept staring at her without looking away for a moment.
Melody Thorne felt as though there were two swords pressed against her chest, making her extremely uncomfortable. She turned her body in another direction, facing away from him, hoping it would feel at least a little better.
