Jared Quinn lowered his eyes. She was focused and serious in attending to his wound. The cold gleam in his eyes showed a hint of warmth, but it lasted only a few seconds. The light in his eyes faded, his cold thin lips spat out a few icy words: "Is this how you apply medicine for him too?"
Melody Thorne's hand stiffened for a moment, since he was injured because of her, she decided not to argue. "It's not what you think you saw. I did apply the medicine, but we're not in the kind of relationship you imagine. If there was anything between us, it would have happened long ago. There's no need to wait until now. Or is it because you lack confidence? Do you think I'd choose him over you?"
