Chapter 126Sonia's POV
"What the hell am I doing?"
Clang!
Another plate hit the sink, harder than necessary, water splashing onto my apron. I was already standing in a sea of dirty dishes, the stack I'd scrubbed towering like a fragile monument beside me. My hands were pruned and raw from hours of scalding water, soap suds clinging stubbornly beneath my nails.
"I didn't sign up for this. Joe and Lily, you better succeed in whatever you are doing, and be fast about it too. I don't know how long I can take this". I muttered to myself as I dipped the oily plate into the sink.
The maid who had dumped the plate there didn't even look sorry. She brushed her palms on her apron, smirking. "You're cooking tonight, by the way."
I froze, a soapy plate in my hand. "Excuse me, I'm what?"
"You heard me." Her smirk grew. "Luna says all new maids will take turns in the kitchen. Guess it's your lucky night." She gave a fake little curtsy smile and flounced out.
