Chapter 121Joe's POV
The road into Red Moon stretched endlessly, winding through dark woods and open plains that looked both barren and watchful. The driver hadn't spoken a word since we left Xavier and Sonia, and neither had Lily.
It was intense hours of silence. Just the creak of the bus and the crunch of gravel beneath its wheels. It was, without a doubt, the eeriest ride of my life.
I kept my gaze on the window, but I could feel her. Every shift of her weight, every nervous breath she tried to muffle. The silence between us wasn't comfortable, it was the kind that was suffocating.
When the bus slowed down, my eyes sharpened. Ahead, the border of the Red Moon Pack rose like a wall of steel and suspicion. Guards in crimson uniforms patrolled with rifles slung over their shoulders, wolves pacing at their sides.
"Checkpoint," the driver said loudly , finally breaking the silence.
