Soorin let herself actually relax for the first time in what felt like years, sinking into the couch cushions.
"Did you ever do something like this?" she asked her mother curiously. "To someone who underestimated you?"
Calista's smile turned sharp and satisfied, the kind that had probably terrified business rivals for decades. "Once. Years ago. A competitor who genuinely thought I was just a pretty face your father had installed as a corporate figurehead. He tried to undercut a major deal I'd been working on for months by spreading rumors about my competence and qualifications."
