"I don't know yet. But I will."
She left his office more confused than before.
In the hallway, she nearly collided with Haejin.
"Sorry—"
"Soorin."
His voice stopped her.
"Hey."
"Are you okay? You look stressed."
"I'm fine."
"Stop saying that."
She blinked.
"What?"
"You always say you're fine. But you're not. I can tell."
"It's just work stuff."
"Is it? Or is it some blackmail again?"
She didn't answer.
Couldn't.
He stepped closer.
Too close.
She could smell his cologne.
That expensive woodsy scent that always made her dizzy.
"Haejin, don't—"
"Don't what?"
His voice was low.
Almost a whisper.
"Don't step into my personal space."
The words came out harsher than she meant.
He immediately backed up.
Put distance between them.
But not before she saw the hurt flash across his face.
