Fifteen minutes later, Haejin stood in the club's VIP section with Yura beside him. Cameras had been arranged. A small group of reporters allowed in for an "exclusive statement."
Manager Park had coached him on every word.
Haejin took a breath. Put on his perfect idol smile.
"I want to apologize for the confusion earlier tonight," he began. His voice was smooth, practiced. "What everyone saw was not what it appeared to be."
Cameras flashed. Reporters leaned in.
"My staff member, Han Soorin, was injured in the fall. I saw broken glass and champagne everywhere. As her employer and as leader of LUMEN, I felt responsible for her safety."
He paused. Let that sink in.
"In my concern for her wellbeing, I acted impulsively. I didn't consider how it would look or how it might hurt Yura." He turned to her, taking her hand. "I'm sorry for embarrassing you. You didn't deserve that."
Yura's eyes glistened with fresh tears. "I understand. You were just being kind."
