During breakfast, Emiya carefully recalled everything Menchi had explained.
Although he was still struggling with Ten, he would eventually master the four basic Nen techniques.
For now, he could record the advanced applications and learn them later.
Once most people had grasped those higher-level uses, Emiya brought up the next topic.
"Hatsu."
Hatsu was the culmination of Nen.
The free control and application of one's Aura.
And it was divided into six types.
That was precisely why Emiya believed Nen surpassed Haki.
"This is what I was about to explain," Menchi said slowly when she heard him mention it. "Although Hatsu is considered a basic ability, it's also the peak of Nen. Once you master it, you can create your own Nen ability with just a bit of creativity."
She then explained the six types.
Enhancer.
Transmuter.
Emitter.
Conjurer.
Manipulator.
Specialist.
Because everyone's aptitude, personality, and circumstances differed, their Nen types differed as well.
People learned abilities of their own type easily.
Other types were much harder.
Hayato Furinji asked, "Then how do we know which type we are?"
"That's simple," Emiya said. "I have a method."
He created a cup filled with water and placed a leaf on the surface.
He handed it to Hayato Furinji.
"Wrap the cup with your hands and use Nen. If the water level rises, you're an Enhancer. If the taste changes, you're a Transmuter. If something crystalline appears, you're a Conjurer. If the color changes, you're an Emitter. If the leaf moves, you're a Manipulator. If none of those happen, you're a Specialist."
Menchi looked interested. "Water Divination... That's a very refined method. If I remember correctly, it originated from the Shingen-ryu martial arts school. Do you know someone from there?"
Emiya shook his head. "No. I've just heard of it."
Hayato Furinji smiled, took the cup with both hands, and activated his Nen.
"Let this old man see what he is."
Nothing happened.
"Drink it," Emiya said.
Hayato took a sip. "It tastes like lemonade."
"Transmuter," Emiya said.
Niikido Toshiro immediately tried next.
Before he even finished speaking, the water overflowed.
"Enhancer," Emiya said calmly.
It suited him perfectly.
Then it was Kosaka Shigure's turn.
The moment she activated her Nen, the leaf began to spin.
"Manipulator," Emiya said.
Given her background as a weapon master, it made sense.
Robin picked up the cup next.
Nothing happened at first.
After taking a sip, she said quietly, "The taste changed. Transmuter."
Finally, it was Issho.
The leaf moved.
Manipulator.
Considering his gravity-based power, it was only natural.
After everyone finished, only Emiya remained.
Unfortunately, he hadn't even mastered Ten yet, let alone Hatsu.
There was no rush.
He could test himself later.
Once the testing ended, Menchi began explaining training methods for each type.
Enhancers smashed rocks.
A thousand a day.
Transmuters practiced shaping numbers with Nen.
From one to nine within a minute.
Eventually, five seconds.
These were methods passed down from veteran Hunters.
Emiya's group listened seriously.
They were beginners.
Menchi was an old hand.
But in a year or two, surpassing her wasn't impossible.
Talent was unfair like that.
After two full days of instruction, Menchi shared everything she knew.
Mostly for Emiya's sake.
She even planned to stay and supervise him until he mastered the four basics.
But on the third day, when she entered Emiya's room, she saw someone unexpected.
"President?" Menchi froze. "Why are you here?"
Netero smiled. "I'm here to see Issho."
Menchi looked over.
Issho nodded.
Before she could ask more, Emiya stood and opened the door.
"Is Eyes Island ready?"
"Of course," Netero replied cheerfully.
They moved to Eyes Island together.
Menchi was confused, but more focused on Netero.
She whispered to Emiya, "Why does the president want to see Issho-san?"
"They're going to duel," Emiya replied.
"A duel?!" Menchi nearly jumped.
Netero turned back. "Is that so strange?"
"No, it's just-"
He waved his hand. "Stay farther back. You might get caught in it."
Emiya nodded.
With telekinesis, he lifted everyone into the air.
Below them, only Issho and Netero remained.
Netero removed his outer robes.
He folded them neatly.
Now dressed in short sleeves and shorts, his lean, powerful body was exposed.
Every movement was precise.
Crisp.
Clean.
He stood before Issho and clasped his hands together.
His Aura surged.
From nearly imperceptible-
To overwhelming.
Issho tightened his grip on his cane sword.
The old man had brought out his true strength.
So would he.
"Gravity Blade: Tiger."
Issho condensed gravity into his sword and swung.
Crushing force surged forward.
The ground caved in.
The earth trembled.
The destruction surged toward Netero.
Then-
White mist turned gold.
A massive golden Guanyin appeared behind Netero.
Dozens of meters tall.
Dozens of arms.
Two palms clapped together, catching the gravity.
This was Netero's Nen.
100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva.
The collision roared.
A violent shockwave exploded outward.
From above, Emiya's group saw the land below torn apart.
Soil surged like waves.
Trees were ripped from the earth.
One clash.
That was all it took.
Issho didn't pause.
"Gravity: Hell's Trip."
Layer upon layer of crushing gravity descended.
The land groaned.
Experts would be flattened instantly.
Netero swayed.
Then stood firm.
He felt young again.
Like standing beneath a waterfall, throwing punch after punch.
The pressure was lethal.
But exhilarating.
"That's it," Netero laughed. "This is how it should be."
All the Guanyin's arms moved at once.
They slammed down.
"100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva: Ninetynine Hands."
As a martial artist, Netero's technique fully embodied everything he had learned.
Faster.
Stronger.
More terrifying than his own fists.
In an instant, countless strikes fell.
Each punch shattered air and earth.
A mountain would crumble like tofu.
And it never tired.
As long as Nen remained, it would not stop.
Issho tracked every strike with Observation Haki.
The punches sealed every escape.
There was no dodging.
So he didn't.
Armament Haki coated his body.
His cane sword turned pitch black.
He swung upward.
"Gravity Blade: Rising Blade."
A slash hundreds of meters long tore through the sky.
Gravity amplified it further.
The fists and slash collided.
No hesitation.
No tricks.
Explosions rang out in rapid succession.
A ring of shockwaves detonated outward in every direction.
