Chapter 104 - Chapter 21: What Was Asked For

Emiya and the others didn't share the same emotions.

But they didn't interrupt either.

After a while, Vivi and Cobra finally finished expressing the feelings they had kept buried for so long.

Cobra, in particular, was overflowing with enthusiasm.

He personally led Emiya's group into the reception hall.

When Vivi told him that Emiya's group had already dealt with Crocodile-the culprit who had thrown the entire kingdom into chaos-Cobra was deeply moved.

He stood up immediately and bowed to Loki.

As a god, Loki naturally didn't mind a king bowing to her.

She sat on the sofa and accepted it calmly.

"You're welcome," she said casually. "Actually, there are a few things I'd like to ask of you."

Cobra nodded without hesitation.

"Of course. Anything within our ability."

Loki didn't bother with pleasantries.

She went straight to the point.

"First, I want to acquire some Den Den Mushi. That won't be a problem, right?"

"No problem at all."

Cobra visibly relaxed.

Den Den Mushi weren't rare on the Grand Line.

With his status, gathering some was trivial.

"Second, I want a few Running Ducks."

"That's even easier."

Cobra was now completely at ease.

If Den Den Mushi required some effort, Running Ducks were nothing.

They were royal mounts of Alabasta.

Giving away a few wasn't an issue.

"Third, I need the method for making a Vivre Card."

"That won't be a problem either," Cobra said readily.

"Is that all, Lord Loki? You can tell me everything at once."

"That's enough," Loki replied, shaking her head. "I don't need anything else."

Emiya glanced at Loki.

He hadn't expected her requests to be Den Den Mushi, Running Ducks, and Vivre Cards.

That genuinely surprised him.

But her foresight was undeniable.

Just the Den Den Mushi alone were incredible.

No wires.

No signal towers.

No charging.

No precision components.

As long as two existed, long-distance communication was possible.

In a fantasy world like Danmachi, this was priceless.

If a Familia member encountered danger, they could immediately contact their patron deity.

Then the deity could dispatch rescuers-perhaps even riding Running Ducks-straight into the Dungeon.

And there were many types.

Video Den Den Mushi.

Photo Den Den Mushi.

Surveillance Den Den Mushi.

And more.

To be blunt, with all these functions combined, the difference between a Transponder Snail and a smartphone wasn't that large.

Aside from games and internet access.

Most smartphone features weren't even used regularly anyway.

Before Hephaestus created a magical version of a smartphone, Den Den Mushi could easily spread throughout Orario.

Even after that happened, they would still have value in other fantasy worlds.

As for the Vivre Card, it was even more impressive.

A piece of paper that wasn't afraid of water or fire.

It represented its owner's life force.

Usually torn apart and given to family or friends before parting.

The fragments would always draw toward the owner.

If the owner weakened, the card would shrink.

If they recovered, it would return to normal.

With something like this, Loki could monitor her Familia's condition at all times.

If someone was in trouble and couldn't make a call, others could use the Vivre Card to find them.

It was obvious.

Loki genuinely cared about her Familia.

Cobra was in a good mood.

All three requests were easy for him.

After confirming Loki had no further needs, he acted immediately.

He ordered people to start collecting Den Den Mushi.

As for the Vivre Card method and the Running Ducks, those were already available in Alabasta.

Less than half an hour later, the Running Ducks and the Vivre Card information were delivered.

The Den Den Mushi would take a bit longer.

But no one was in a hurry.

Under King Cobra's hospitality, Emiya's group stayed in the palace as honored guests.

That evening, Cobra held a grand banquet to welcome them.

The royal chef was the wife of Igaram, captain of the royal guard.

She had served the kingdom for decades and had exceptional culinary skill.

Emiya ate heartily.

Even Loki ate with interest and commented, "It's delicious."

Emiya agreed.

Her cooking wasn't inferior to Kojiro Shinomiya of the former Totsuki Elite Ten.

After the banquet, Emiya returned to the room Cobra had prepared.

He lay down on the bed.

Before he could even wash up, he fell asleep.

He was exhausted.

He had started early in the morning.

From Cocoyasi Village to Loguetown.

Across Reverse Mountain.

Into Whiskey Peak.

Defeating Mr. 5.

Escorting Vivi to Alabasta.

Flying nonstop from Nanohana to Rainbase.

Entering the casino.

Defeating Crocodile.

Bringing Issho and Robin to Alubarna.

Attending a banquet in the evening.

Even though Loki did most of the heavy lifting-

Even though he was mostly along for the ride-

It was still too much.

So he slept the moment he lay down.

When the sky began to lighten the next day, Emiya opened his eyes.

He woke up.

First, he used his ability to return home.

After a quick wash, he came back to the palace room.

He was fully awake now.

Emiya left the room and walked down the wide palace hallway.

He passed several maids hard at work.

The floors were spotless.

So clean he could see his reflection.

They were true professionals.

Then Emiya glanced out a window.

On the lawn outside, someone was practicing Fish-Man Karate.

He looked closer.

It was Shizuka Hiratsuka.

He smiled.

Climbed out the window.

And jumped down.

"You're pretty diligent."

Shizuka didn't turn around.

She continued practicing.

Emiya shrugged, walked over, and said, "Teach me too."

She glanced at him.

"You want to learn Fish-Man Karate as well?"

"I just want better stamina," Emiya replied.

"Using a Devil Fruit consumes energy."

"My stamina isn't great, so learning Fish-Man Karate makes sense."

Shizuka shot back, "Then why don't you use your superpower to create a potion that boosts stamina?"

Those words hit him instantly.

He froze.

Right.

Why hadn't he thought of that?

Creating a stamina-boosting potion from nothing was unrealistic.

But with a reference.

With an understanding of its principles.

He could recreate it.

Even if it had flaws, he could fix them.

And in the One Piece world-

There was no shortage of references.

Ideas flooded his mind.

First was the Energy Steroid from Fish-Man Island.

It could multiply strength tenfold-or more.

But the side effects were severe.

Overuse caused rapid aging.

It burned future potential.

Second was the SIQ steroid created by Dr. Indigo under Shiki.

But that was meant for beasts, not humans.

He discarded it.

Third was Sanji's Vitality Formula.

A form of food therapy learned on Okama Island.

It could instantly restore stamina or greatly boost combat power.

But Sanji didn't know it yet.

And Okama Island wasn't easy to find.

Discarded.

Fourth was Ivankov's Tension Hormones.

No need to consider that.

Discarded.

Fifth was Chopper's Rumble Ball.

But Chopper hadn't invented it yet.

Discarded.

The final option was Gosui.

A drug developed by Alabasta's elite guards to fight Crocodile.

It gave a temporary boost in strength.

But it was short-lived.

The boost was small.

And the side effects were deadly.

People could die within minutes.

Compared to the Energy Steroid, it was inferior in every way.

Worse side effects.

Shorter duration.

In a sense, it was useless.

But Emiya didn't dismiss it.

He had a new idea.

So at breakfast, Emiya asked Vivi about it.

"Gosui."

As Alabasta's princess, Vivi naturally knew it.

But she was confused.

"Lord Emiya... why would you want something that dangerous?"
