Chapter 89 - Chapter 6: A One-Sided Beating

Over the past few years, the merman Arlong had ruled the villages around Cocoyasi Village with cruelty and tyranny.

Through extortion, he amassed a massive fortune and built Arlong Park.

It was, without question, the most magnificent structure in Cocoyasi Village.

Compared to the surrounding wooden houses, it looked like something from a completely different world.

After arriving in Cocoyasi Village, Emiya and Shizuka Hiratsuka didn't need to ask for directions.

Arlong Park was far too conspicuous.

The two walked straight toward it, making no effort to hide themselves.

Along the way, many villagers noticed them.

When they realized where the pair was heading, their expressions changed instantly.

At that moment, a man with several scars on his face stepped forward and blocked their path.

He wore a red police uniform.

It was Gen-san, the police officer of Cocoyasi Village.

"Who are you two?" Gen-san asked, staring at them with hostility.

Shizuka Hiratsuka replied directly, "We're here to defeat Arlong."

Gen-san's face darkened.

"There is no Arlong here," he said harshly. "You've come to the wrong place. As a police officer, I order you to leave Cocoyasi Village immediately. You are not welcome here."

Shizuka clicked her tongue.

She understood.

Gen-san wasn't protecting Arlong.

He was protecting Cocoyasi Village.

He didn't believe they could defeat Arlong.

If they failed, Arlong would gain an excuse to further exploit the villagers.

So Gen-san had no choice but to stop them.

Even so, that attitude irritated her.

Still, there was no need to beat him up over it.

She turned to Emiya. "What should we do?"

Emiya didn't answer.

A Psychic hand shot out, grabbed Gen-san, and-

Splash.

He was thrown straight into the nearby sea.

"Problem solved."

Shizuka Hiratsuka rolled her eyes and pointed at the villagers slowly closing in around them.

"This is not solved at all."

"Relax," Emiya said casually.

He waved his hand and lifted Shizuka Hiratsuka into the air with Psychic.

Under the stunned gazes of the villagers, the two of them flew straight into Arlong Park.

The moment they arrived, the entire park was thrown into chaos.

All the mermen were alerted.

Especially Arlong himself.

At the time, the leader of the Arlong Pirates was in the middle of lunch.

When he saw Emiya and Shizuka Hiratsuka flying in from outside, his expression instantly turned grim.

He wasn't a merman native to the East Blue.

He had escaped from the Grand Line.

And he knew exactly what this scene meant.

Humans couldn't fly.

A human who could fly was no ordinary human.

It could only mean one thing.

A Devil Fruit user.

"Who are you two?" Arlong demanded, racking his brain.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember them.

Emiya looked at him.

Arlong was a saw-shark merman with a long, jagged nose.

He already looked ugly in the manga.

In person, he was downright hideous.

Faced with Arlong's question, Emiya couldn't be bothered to reply.

A Psychic hand flew out, clenched into a fist, and punched Arlong directly in the head.

Psychic was invisible.

Ordinary people couldn't see it.

Neither could Arlong.

He had no chance to defend.

Bang.

Arlong was launched like a cannonball and smashed into the park wall.

His nose felt flattened.

His head buzzed violently.

He couldn't even think straight.

Emiya showed no mercy.

Another Psychic hand grabbed one of Arlong's legs.

Then-

Slam.

Lift.

Slam.

Lift.

Slam.

Heavy impacts echoed throughout the park.

The surrounding mermen were completely stunned.

They could clearly see their leader being lifted by an invisible force, smashed into the ground, lifted again, and smashed again.

In just a few seconds, Arlong was slammed dozens of times.

One crater after another appeared in the ground.

Even with Arlong's impressive durability, his bones shattered.

His internal organs shifted out of place.

He coughed up large mouthfuls of blood.

"Let go of our leader!"

Only then did the other mermen react.

One of the Arlong Pirates rushed at Emiya.

Bang.

In the next instant, he was struck by a Psychic hand and sent flying even faster than before, crashing hard into a wall.

Before he could get up, a Psychic hand grabbed his leg.

And the beating began again.

The thunderous impacts rang out once more.

This time, it was a duet.

Shizuka Hiratsuka shook her head.

Psychic was completely unfair.

Invisible to the naked eye.

Impossible to block.

For both offense and defense, it was a cheat.

Someone skilled in Observation Haki might sense it and dodge.

Someone proficient in Armament Haki could protect their body.

But what did the Arlong Pirates have?

Although mermen were physically tougher than ordinary humans, they were still flesh and blood.

They had neither Observation Haki nor Armament Haki.

They had no way to withstand Psychic.

"Stop it! Stop it now!"

Seeing their companions being brutalized, the remaining mermen rushed forward one after another.

It changed nothing.

Emiya first sent them flying with Psychic.

Then he grabbed them by both legs.

And slammed them into the ground again and again.

The sound escalated.

From a duet.

To a full symphony.

By the end, the entire ground of Arlong Park was covered in pits of varying sizes.

The once-smooth surface was now a shattered mess.

A horrifying sight.

Shizuka Hiratsuka shook her head again.

This wasn't a fight.

It was a massacre.

After a while, Emiya finally stopped.

Every single merman lay on the ground.

Not one could stand.

Arlong, in particular, twitched weakly, his breathing shallow.

Whether he lived or died would depend on luck.

Even so, Shizuka Hiratsuka couldn't help but be amazed.

Most of the mermen still looked intact on the outside.

Their durability was truly frightening.

If ordinary people had endured over a hundred such beatings, they would have been reduced to paste.

Yet the mermen still retained their original forms.

Not a single limb was visibly severed.

Of course, an intact exterior didn't mean an intact interior.

Many had broken bones.

Internal bleeding.

Some even had limbs twisted into unnatural angles.

A gruesome scene.

"You really didn't hold back at all," Shizuka Hiratsuka said, half-complaining.

"For people who exploit innocent civilians," Emiya replied calmly, "there's no need for mercy."

"...That's true," Shizuka Hiratsuka said, nodding.
