Chapter 142 - The First Council of the Draven Clan

The great hall of the new estate was unfinished, its walls still raw stone and its ceiling open to beams of sunlight. Yet today, it felt whole—alive with purpose. Long tables were arranged in a circle, candles lit despite the daylight, and banners bearing the Draven crest unfurled for the first time.

It was the day of the first formal council.

Kael stood at the center with Selene beside him. Around them, the Draven elders, Mukul, Anaya, and chosen representatives of allied families sat in silent expectation. Even the children had been invited to watch, a reminder that this meeting was not for one generation, but for all that would follow.

Kael raised his hand."Today we carve order from chaos. The estate has begun to take shape. Now we must give shape to the family that lives within it. Roles will be defined, duties assigned, and our long-term vision set. Let this council be remembered as the first heartbeat of the Draven clan reborn."

He gestured to the children seated near the dais. "The future begins with them."

The Children's Gifts

Selene stepped forward, introducing each child with quiet pride.

"Elysia Draven," she said, resting a hand on her eldest daughter's shoulder. The young girl's calm eyes scanned the council like a general reviewing her troops. "She has an innate gift for strategy. Even now, she sees patterns that others miss. She will begin her training within the Circle of Strength, guided toward leadership."

Next came Kaelen Draven, the second-born, bold and curious. He fidgeted in his seat, restless, as though his body carried a current he had yet to understand. "He has already shown sensitivity to internal energy," Selene explained. "His path will be with the Circle of Unity, balancing discipline with discovery."

"Lyra Draven," Selene continued, introducing the third child. Lyra's gentle gaze softened the room. "She is drawn to healing—both of body and heart. She will study under the physicians of the Circle of Wisdom and walk the path of medicine and compassion."

"Darian Draven," Kael announced with pride. The boy's hands were stained with ink from sketches of machines. "His mind is sharper than steel. He will apprentice in technology and mechanics, reinforcing the strength of our estate with invention."

"Selara Draven," Selene said next, her voice warm. The fifth child bowed her head with grace, her presence quiet yet commanding. "She blends artistry with calculation, seeing not only the battlefield but the soul behind it. She will train across both the Circle of Wisdom and Strength, bridging them."

Finally came Riven Draven, the youngest, who grinned mischievously even as he clutched a small puzzle toy. "Troublemaker though he is," Kael admitted with a chuckle, "his intelligence is remarkable. He solves problems even our adults stumble upon. For now, his role is to learn—but already, he has earned his place among us."

The children's names rippled through the council, not as mere heirs but as pillars of a future legacy.

Assigning the Roles

With the family watching, Kael turned back to the circle."The council itself will divide into three pillars: Governance, Security, and Expansion. Governance will oversee education, diplomacy, and law. Security will guard our clan against threats within and without. Expansion will ensure our reach—economic, political, and cultural—beyond these walls."

Selene added: "Each branch will work in harmony, never alone. One cannot protect without wisdom. One cannot govern without strength. One cannot expand without unity."

Mukul spoke next, his voice measured."The Raichand–Malhotra family pledges its support. Where you lead, we will assist. But the choices must be yours, for this estate is your heart."

The elders murmured their approval. Already, names were offered: one elder for Governance, a seasoned fighter for Security, a visionary merchant for Expansion. Mukul and Anaya took advisory roles, bridging the clans.

The Long-Term Vision

As dusk settled, the first plans were laid. Training grounds would be completed by winter. A library and academy would rise within the year. Trade routes would be secured, and diplomatic envoys dispatched. Above all, unity would be preserved.

Kael looked once more at his children, seated close together."The foundation of our clan is not in stone or steel, but in the lives we shape. This council is not for us—it is for them, and those who come after."

Selene reached for his hand. "Then let us make sure we never forget why we began."

And with that, the Draven clan's first council adjourned—not as individuals, but as one family, their future bound by duty, hope, and the promise of dawn.
