Chapter 5 - Over there by the cafe

Azure Rosales Kailen, had been chosen by the saint of the god of heroism. From a young age he had decided to become a hero who strived to live honorably. He had never allowed himself to show fear or incertitude. He considered a hero to be infallible and perfect, and he considered himself to be the culmination of that. He had been leagues above people his age since childhood, never having lost a battle.

'What's wrong with this city?' That's all Azure could think as he crashed through wall after wall. First he had been mocked for being too weak for his title as one of the Four Kings, twice over in fact. Both times, these insults had come from the servants of a man who Azure was said to equal, but both Kitty Calico and Christopher Arknight had asked him if he was sure that he was one of the FourKings, insinuating that their master stood far above him.

Christopher Arknight in particular expressed this sentiment, at first Azure had confused him for the crown prince of Uruz, this due to the fact that Christopher's mana rivaled his own. Christopher had mocked him for this, telling him he was unworthy of having the same title as his master. Azure had taken this as an attempt at tricking him, and he had kept dueling Christopher.

But a massive mana signature appearing in the old castle quarter had made him realize he was mistaken.

"Red!!" Christopher had recognized the signature immediately. "It seems I was mistaken." Azure had produced a massive amount of wind mana and raced to the signature. Christopher followed after him but it seemed that he wasn't able to move as fast as him. On the way there, Azure couldn't help but marvel at the signature, he was sure it was fake however, how could someone produce more than twice the mana he could? 'It must be some type of illusion spell.'

Then he saw it, a man descending from the sky, Red Uruz Alfwar was using a spell that took many years to master; Azure despite being descended from the Kailen family who specialized in wind mana, couldn't hope to fly like that with his level of skill. This Red Uruz is quiet the phenom illusion magic user. Azure imagined Red to be quite a powerful mage, but at that moment he assumed that Red used illusions to trick his enemies.

After this Azure witnessed Red send a man flying with a single strike; this had taken place in less than a second. The man had flown up to where the roof used to be and after a while slammed against the ground, his jaw was surely broken and he was missing most of his teeth. He's actually a master of wind mana, dammit! But that must be the only element he's good at. Azure had to admit that Red actually knew what he was doing. Illusion magic could only distort the senses, it would be impossible to produce such a ferocious attack without using some sort of attack magic.

To top it all off, Red had confronted Leonorio, he had served as his family's guard for a few years. Leonorio was an experienced magic user that was even known as the master of wind. This was due to his ability to hijack wind spells that entered the vicinity of his mana. Azure had never managed to beat that spell even after training with Leonorio dozens of times. He believed that Red would be unable to even graze Leonorio.

A bright ball formed over Leonorio's head, light suddenly struck him head on, the clap of thunder being the last thing to be heard. Leonorio had been completely overwhelmed. Lightning magic!!, How is that possible? He's supposed to be a year younger than me!! Azure had been dismissing Red's skills, but to learn to control lightning magic was something unheard of for someone their age. To learn lightning magic at 40 years old was already considered impressive.

He's got me beat. Azure had no choice but to admit that Red was stronger than him, and despite the fact that Red had just defeated his guards, he was sure that Red must've had a good reason. Azure was ready to talk to Red calmly after thinking things through, but then came a sight that made his blood boil.

Red had proceeded to openly flirt with his servant while ignoring his sister Rosalina. Part of the reason they had journeyed to Uruz was so that Red and Rosalina could hit it off and maybe even enter an arranged marriage, but now his sister was being completely ignored. Calming his rage Azure reasoned He probably doesn't know about our plans, if he is already in a relationship it can't be helped. After a while his sister spoke up, which led to Red apologizing to her. Okay, he doesn't seem to be so bad. Azure had finally managed to calm down.

Red however, had gone up to his sister and started flirting with her too! Does he think that she's a two bit floozy that would actually fall for his act?!! Azure was then utterly shocked to see that his sister had not only flirted back with Red, but she had even had to cover her face in embarrassment after one of Red's compliments. "I change my mind, he's actually evil." Azure said this under his breath.

Azure had then proceeded to challenge Red to a duel, despite being aware of the difference in strength, Azure knew in his heart that a hero always stood up to evil, even if said evil was stronger than the hero. After managing to freeze Red's water attack, Azure had surmised that he must've overestimated Red after all, he had even smiled at the time.

"Meteoric Bull!!!" After shouting this, Red had produced a blue bull around his body and collided point blank with Azure's chest. The impact had sent Azure crashing through his own ice and then multiple walls. In the midst of this, Azure simply thought about the spell. 'What kind of mana produces something like that?' With a final slam against glass Azure had been knocked out cold.

"Did I hit him too hard?!" Red's question hung silently over the room, both Kitty and Rosalina who had just witnessed Red send one of the Four Kings flying with a single spell didn't know how to respond.

"I'm sure he's alive at least." Christopher said with a chuckle. "That guy was pretty strong, I doubt that's enough to take him out." "Jeez, it's about time you showed up." Red let out a chuckle and fist bumped Christopher.

"What in heaven's name happened here?!" The old captain of the Knights regiments had arrived opposite to Christopher, he looked around at the mess that engulfed the entire area and seemed to be in the midst of a panic attack.

Kitty breaking out of her shock, told Dominic how the guards that were sent to accompany her and Rosalina had decided to attack them as soon as they entered the old castle quarter. "If Red hadn't gotten here in time we would've been done for." Kitty looked at Red's back, he had always had broad shoulders just like his father, but right now, his back seemed wider than it ever had.

"Dominic." Red held a serious tone. "Yes, what is it my prince?" Dominic was surprised when the young prince who never took anything seriously spoke to him with such a serious countenance. "I'm sure you noticed, but these guards came along with lady Sybil and her children, I very much doubt that only those assigned to accompany Kitty and Rosalina would be traitors. We have to go and arrest the other guards before they attack!" Rosalina shuddered, she was worried about her mother, especially because the guards had been chosen at random.

"There's no need to worry about that my prince." Dominic was proud of how Red had deduced that the other guards were traitors as well, especially because he was right. "The other guards tried to assassinate lady Sybil..." "Is my mother okay?!" Rosalina feared that the worst outcome had already occurred.

"Yes, forgive me my lady." Dominic paused making sure to use better phrasing this time. "The guards were defeated by lady Sybil and her majesty. Her majesty decided to check on lady Sybil when she did not hear from her for a time... she got there just in time for them to subdue the guards together." Rosalina let out a sigh in relief. "Well, she is my mother." Red knew his mother was a very talented mage, but he couldn't help but be pleasantly surprised by the news.

"I've been utterly useless today." Dominic beat himself up. Not only had he been unable to stop any of the guards turned assassins, but both the queen and prince had been forced to put themselves in harms way. "I don't want to hear you say that Dominic!" Red looked at the old man while grabbing his shoulder. "I know just how much this job means to you, I know how much this city means to you. My mother and I don't need a guard to keep us from danger, all we ask is that while you're serving as captain of the guards regiment, you defend those that can't defend themselves."

Dominic had started crying again, but Red continued. "I've always known you to be a man that does just that." "Wahhhaha! I'll be forever loyal to you my Prince!!!" It appeared that Red had managed to ease Dominic's woes.

"More importantly, have the knights round up those two men, they should still be alive." Dominic regained his composure at Red's orders. "Yes my pri... what happened to them?!?!" ..... "Well, I punched one in the jaw and electrocuted the other..." Red said this while smiling awkwardly. "Just how strong have you gotten my prince?" "Well you know me.." Red had realized that everyone would now know how strong he had gotten, and he knew this would lead to unreasonable requests from his father the king.

Letting out a deep sigh Red stared as the knights rounding up the guards. "What about my brother?" Rosalina had grabbed Red's arm while she asked this. "Right... Dominic, bring a few healers and have lord Azure be brought with us to go speak to my mother, would you?" Dominic nodded, and upon searching the vicinity he saw no one. "Where might lord Azure be my prince?"

"Well he kind of pissed me off, so I sent him flying." Dominic instantly felt a sense of dread. "Please tell me he's alive..." "Of course he is, what do you think I am some sort of cold blooded killer?" "No of course not my prince, wait... don't tell me lord Azure is what came crashing through these walls." Dominic shuddered to think how hard of an impact you would need to be sent crashing through so many buildings.

"Oh yeah, that was him." Dominic grew visibly older at these words. "Calm down Dominic he'll be fine, just make sure to heal him and bring him with us. He's over there by the cafe." "Isn't the cafe behind those three buildings..." Never mind worrying won't heal lord Azure. After getting Azure and the guards, everyone present went to have an audience with the queen.
