Nukra beamed with delight as she chased after Jeremiah, while Dydra followed behind, still amazed by everything she was witnessing. The lively streets of Crowmale continued around her as though nothing unusual had happened, and yet she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something important about this place.
Jeremiah eventually reached two women who were busy spreading several pieces of fabric across a wooden stand. He hurried toward them and tugged at the skirt of one of the women, drawing her attention.
"Mother!" he called.
The woman turned toward him, and Dydra found herself staring once again.
Her hair was as dark as ink, contrasting sharply against her pale skin, while her eyes were a clear blue, bright like the midmorning sky.
"What is the matter now?" the woman asked with slight irritation as she looked down at her son, taking note of the dirt covering his clothes.
