Marcus couldn't stop smiling.
The feeling had started this morning when he'd woken up with Ryan still beside him, warm and sleep-soft in the early light filtering through the bedroom curtains.
They'd moved to the bed sometime during the night, neither of them wanting to separate, and Marcus had spent a long moment just watching Ryan sleep before Ryan's eyes had fluttered open.
The morning routine they'd shared after that, making coffee together in Marcus's kitchen, Ryan borrowing one of Marcus's shirts because his own was wrinkled, the comfortable silence punctuated by small touches and softer smiles, had felt so natural that Marcus had wanted to hold onto it forever.
Ryan had left for his shift at the restaurant around eight, and Marcus had reluctantly gotten ready for work himself, knowing he'd been away from Apex Holdings long enough, the doctors had cleared him to return, and his inbox was probably overflowing with emails and urgent matters that needed his attention.
