Chapter 185 Clues to New Drugs
With that, Old Harry suddenly pulled out a pistol from his pocket and aimed it at James Duke. However, just then, Hans quickly acted, disarming Old Harry with a beautiful grapple.
"Old Harry, you lost," Hans said coldly. "Did you think your threats and violence could solve problems? Let me tell you, the power of justice is boundless, and you will never be able to defeat it."
Old Harry slumped to the ground, his eyes flickering with despair. He knew he had truly lost. The Carlos Syndicate's crimes had been exposed, and he would not be able to escape the law's retribution.
The next day, as the dawn broke and the city's hustle and bustle had not yet fully awakened, the Carlos Syndicate's headquarters was already a hive of activity. The conference room doors were tightly shut, and the Syndicate's high-ranking members sat around the table, the atmosphere so heavy it felt like it could freeze Water into ice. Outside the window, the sun tried to pierce through the clouds, but it seemed unable to dispel even the shadows of this building.
"Did you see last night's news?" The Syndicate President Carlos's voice was low and powerful, his gaze sweeping over everyone's faces with an undeniable authority. "Old Harry's matter has caused quite a stir."
Vice President Jack cleared his throat, attempting to lighten the mood: "President, we have already cut ties with the Manhattan branch as per your instructions. All the blame has been pushed onto Old Harry. Now, we just need to wait for the storm to pass, then we can reshuffle and continue with our plans."
Carlos nodded, but no sign of relief appeared on his face: "Well done, but it's not enough. Although Old Harry is a scapegoat, he is still our man. If he can't hold up and spills everything, we will still be implicated."
"So you mean..." Jack asked tentatively.
Carlos's eyes turned cold: "Make him shut up forever."
At the same time, at the other end of the city, the prison's iron gates slowly opened, and Old Harry was led out by the prison guard. His face was haggard, and his eyes flickered with despair. Since his arrest by the FBI, he had been held there, awaiting trial. However, he never expected that the Carlos Syndicate, to whom he had once been loyal, would abandon him so easily.
"Old Harry, someone is here to see you," the prison guard's voice interrupted his thoughts.
Old Harry looked up and saw a strange lawyer standing outside the door. His heart tightened. Could this be someone sent by the Carlos Syndicate?
The lawyer walked in and introduced himself: "I am the lawyer commissioned by the Carlos Syndicate, here to discuss your case."
Old Harry sneered: "Discuss my case? Haven't you already made me a scapegoat? What's there to discuss?"
The lawyer's expression remained unchanged: "Old Harry, you should know that the Carlos Syndicate will not allow anyone who threatens it to exist. Your current situation is not optimistic."
Old Harry gritted his teeth: "What do you want? To kill me?"
The lawyer did not answer directly but pulled out a photograph from his pocket and placed it on the table: "This is your family. They are safe now, but if you continue like this, I cannot guarantee their safety."
Old Harry's face instantly turned pale. He knew how ruthless the Carlos Syndicate's methods were. If his family fell into their hands, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"What do you want me to do?" he asked weakly.
The lawyer smiled slightly: "It's very simple, you just need to confess to all the crimes, and then..." He made a throat-slitting gesture. "This way, your family will receive a generous severance payment, and they will be able to live a stable life."
Old Harry fell silent. He knew he had no choice. If he didn't do this, not only would he die, but his family would also be implicated. However, if he truly did this, then he would become a true criminal, forever unable to wash away his sins.
Seeing his hesitation, the lawyer added fuel to the Fire: "Old Harry, you should know that the Carlos Syndicatehas already cut ties with the Manhattan branch. You are now all alone, and no one can save you. Moreover, even if you spill everything, what can you do? The forces behind the Carlos Syndicate are beyond your imagination. Doing this will only harm yourself and your family."
Old Harry's heart was filled with struggle. He knew he was in a desperate situation, but he was unwilling to just give in. He looked up at the lawyer, his eyes flashing with determination: "Tell me, if I do this, will my family truly be safe?"
The lawyer nodded: "I can assure you that as long as you do as we say, your family will receive the best care."
Old Harry took a deep breath, as if he had made a decision. He slowly said: "Okay, I promise you. But I want you to let me see my family first, to make sure they are safe and sound."
The lawyer smiled slightly: "Of course. We will arrange it right away."
However, at the same time that Old Harry reached an agreement with the lawyer, Lynn and Hans had already sensed that something was wrong. They knew the Carlos Syndicate's cunning and ruthlessness, and they understood Old Harry's importance to them. If they couldn't rescue Old Harry quickly, he would likely become another pawn in the Carlos Syndicate's hands.
"Hans, I feel like something is wrong," Lynn frowned. "The Carlos Syndicate suddenly cutting ties with the Manhattan branch and pushing all the blame onto Old Harry, this is too illogical."
Hans nodded: "I think so too. They're clearly trying to make Old Harry a scapegoat. We must find him quickly and not let him fall into the Carlos Syndicate's hands."
The two quickly took action. They found out Old Harry's detention location through various channels and formulated a detailed rescue plan. However, when they arrived at the prison, they found that Old Harry had already been transferred.
"Damn it!" Lynn cursed, "They're so cunning!"
Hans did not give up: "Don't worry, we still have a chance. They will definitely take Old Harry to a safe place. As long as we can find that place, we can rescue him."
The two continued to track Old Harry's whereabouts. After a difficult effort, they finally found the place where Old Harry was imprisoned. However, when they arrived, they found that Old Harry had already...
"No!" Lynn exclaimed, rushing into the room. Old Harrylay on the ground, his eyes closed, already lifeless. In his hand, he tightly clutched a photograph, a group photo of his family.
Hans walked in, looking at Old Harry's remains, his eyes flickering with anger and sadness: "They are so cruel! Old Harry, we will definitely get justice for you!"
Lynn clenched her fists, her eyes flashing with determination: "Carlos Syndicate, just you wait! We will expose your crimes and let everyone know your true colors!"
The next day.
Manhattan, towering skyscrapers shimmered with a cold light under the night sky, reflecting the stars. This is one of the most prosperous cities in the World, and also a battlefield where crime and justice intertwine.
Inside the FBI office, the lights were dim, and the atmosphere was heavy. Hans, an experienced FBI Agent, hurried into the office, clutching a file. His gaze searched the office, finally settling on Lynn.
"Lynn, look at this," Hans handed the file to Lynn, his brows furrowed. "This is the latest intelligence we've received. The Viper Gang in Manhattan has started selling a new type of drug."
Lynn put down her work and took the file with a puzzled expression. She opened the file, her eyes quickly scanning its contents, and her face gradually became serious.
"The composition of this new drug is very complex, it causes great harm to the human body, and it's highly addictive," Lynn put down the file and looked at Hans. "We must take action immediately."
"That's right, I've already arranged for people to investigate," Hans nodded. "Currently, we've caught some thugs, and we hope to get more clues from them."
As the two were speaking, a Agent walked in, reporting that the interrogation room was ready and they could start interrogating the captured thugs at any time. Lynnand Hans exchanged glances, then got up and headed to the interrogation room.
Inside the interrogation room, under the dim lights, a thug-like person was handcuffed to a chair, looking dispirited. Hans and Lynn sat opposite him, ready to begin the interrogation.
"Tell us, where does the Viper Gang trade this new type of drug?" Hans asked sternly.
The thug looked up, revealing a disdainful smile: "Aren't you FBI Agents quite capable? Go find out yourselves."
Lynn frowned, knowing that this head-on approach would yield no results. She took a deep breath and tried a different approach: "We just want to know the truth. If you cooperate with us, perhaps we can help you reduce some of your crimes."
Upon hearing Lynn's words, a flicker of hesitation crossed the thug's eyes. He fell silent for a moment, seemingly weighing the pros and cons.
"Alright, I'll talk," the thug finally said. "I only know that they often conduct transactions at the Muse Bar. I don't know the specific transaction times or details."
"Muse Bar?" Lynn and Hans exchanged glances, both seeing surprise in each other's eyes. This was an important clue!
"Are you sure?" Hans pressed.
"Positive," the thug nodded. "I've seen them go in and out of there with my own eyes."
Having obtained the crucial information, Lynn and Hansimmediately began to plan their operation. They contacted other Agents, preparing for a covert investigation of the Muse Bar.
However, things were not as smooth as they had imagined. The Muse Bar was a famous underground bar in Manhattan, with complex power relationships behind it. Lynn and Hans had to act carefully to avoid alerting the enemy.
As night fell, the streets of Manhattan were filled with an indescribable atmosphere. Lynn and Hans led an elite FBI team, quietly arriving at the entrance of the Muse Bar. The bar's heavy door seemed to separate two Worlds; outside was calm and justice, while inside was the unknown and potential evil.
"Are you ready?" Lynn turned to Hans, his eyes shining with determination.
Hans nodded. He checked the pistol at his waist and said in a deep voice, "Let's go in, and be careful."
As the heavy door slowly opened, loud music and dim lights rushed out. The Muse Bar's interior was filled with smoke, and various people were mixed together, making it difficult to distinguish between targets and innocent bystanders.
Lynn and Hans exchanged glances and tacitly split up. They led their team members to disperse throughout the bar, secretly observing everyone's movements.
However, after searching for a long time, they found no trace of the new type of drug. They only found some old-fashioned drugs and a few small thugs who were conducting transactions.
"How could this be?" Lynn frowned, looking at the old-fashioned drugs in his hand. "Was the intelligence wrong?"
Hans also walked over. He glanced at the drugs, his expression somewhat grave: "It seems the Viper Gang is more cunning than we thought. They might have moved the new type of drug in advance, or they didn't have the goods here at all."
"So what do we do now?" a team member asked.
Lynn pondered for a moment, then looked up and said, "First, take these small thugs back for interrogation and see if we can get more clues from them. At the same time, we also need to re-examine whether our intelligence sources are reliable."
Just then, a commotion suddenly broke out in the bar. It turned out that a drunken customer had gotten into a conflict with the bar's security guard. This sudden farce attracted everyone's attention, including Lynn and Hans.
"Wait, that person…" Lynn suddenly pointed to a man in the conflict and said, "The tattoo on his hand is the Viper Gang's symbol!"
Hans immediately drew his gun and pointed it at the man, shouting loudly, "FBI! Don't move!"
The atmosphere in the bar instantly became tense. The man evidently hadn't expected to encounter the FBI here. He froze for a moment, then suddenly turned and ran.
"Chase!" Lynn and Hans led their team members in swift pursuit.
A thrilling chase unfolded inside the bar. The man agilely weaved through the crowd and between tables and chairs, trying to shake off his pursuers. But Lynn and Hanswere not to be trifled with; they relentlessly pursued, gradually closing in on the man.
Just as they were about to catch the man, he suddenly pulled a pistol from his waist and fired several shots. Lynnand Hans quickly dodged, but one team member was unfortunately hit.
"Damn it!" Hans roared, aiming and firing a shot at the man. The bullet accurately struck the man's arm. He screamed, and the gun in his hand fell to the ground.
Lynn seized the opportunity to rush forward, using a beautiful subdue technique to pin the man to the ground. He panted, looking at the man, his eyes shining with anger and victory.
"Speak! Where is the new type of drug?" Lynn demanded sharply.
The man, however, merely sneered: "You FBI are nothing more than this."
Hans walked over and kicked the man: "Stop talking nonsense! Tell us where the new type of drug is, or you'll regret it!"
However, no matter how they pressed him, the man refused to reveal any information. Lynn and Hans knew this was not the way, so they decided to take him back to FBI Headquarters for a more in-depth interrogation.
On the way back to Headquarters, Lynn looked out the window, deep in thought. Although this operation had caught a few small thugs and a member of the Viper Gang, they had not found the new type of drug. This made her feel somewhat frustrated and unwilling.
"Don't be discouraged," Hans seemed to read his mind. "At least we've found a breakthrough. I believe that as long as we continue to work hard, we will definitely be able to uncover the true face of the Viper Gang."
Lynn turned to Hans upon hearing this, his eyes shining with determination: "You're right. We can't give up now. As long as the new type of drug isn't eliminated, more people will be harmed. We must fight for those innocent victims!"
Their gazes met in the air, both seeing the determination and resolve in each other's eyes. They knew the road ahead would be long and difficult, but as long as they worked together and moved forward hand in hand, they would surely overcome all difficulties and uncover the truth!
Upon returning to FBI Headquarters, Lynn and Hansimmediately began interrogating the man. They used various methods and techniques to try to pry open his mouth, but the results were not ideal. The man seemed to have received professional training and had a strong resistance to interrogation.
However, just as they were about to lose patience, an unexpected clue appeared. It turned out that during the search of the Muse Bar, a team member had inadvertently taken a photo. The photo showed the man's transaction scene with another You-Know-Who, and a warehouse symbol was vaguely visible in the background.
Lynn and Hans looked at the information in the photo, a flash of surprise in their eyes. They immediately conducted a detailed analysis and comparison of the photo, finally determining the location of that warehouse.
"It seems this is where the Viper Gang is hiding the new type of drug!" Lynn said excitedly, "We need to go search it immediately!"
Hans nodded: "We can't fail this time! We must find the new type of drug and wipe out the Viper Gang in one fell swoop!"
Inside the FBI office, Lynn was frowning, carefully analyzing the warehouse data on the computer screen. After days of in-depth investigation, he finally confirmed the true owner of this mysterious warehouse—shipping magnate Ward.
"Ward…" Lynn murmured, his finger unconsciously tapping on the desk. "This giant of the shipping industry, not only possesses astonishing wealth, but also has such a massive private armed force. This is practically a small military fortress."
He knew that to search Ward's warehouse, merely being an FBI Agent was far from enough. Ward's influence was vast, and without concrete evidence and a legal search warrant, any unauthorized action could lead to unpredictable consequences.
Lynn took a deep breath and decided to apply for a search warrant from his Officer. He organized the documents in his hand, stood up, and walked towards his Officer's office.
"Knock, knock, knock—" Lynn politely knocked on the door.
"Come in," his Officer's voice came from behind the door.
Lynn pushed open the door and walked in. He placed the documents in his hand on his Officer's desk, then elaborated on his findings and suspicions.
"So, you want me to issue a search warrant, allowing you to search Ward's warehouse?" his Officer asked, looking up at him after listening to Lynn's report.
"Yes, Officer," Lynn nodded firmly. "I believe the new type of drug we've been tracking is hidden there. This is the most important clue we currently have."
Chapter 186 Lynn and Ward's First Confrontation
His superior frowned, and after a moment of silence, he said, "Lynn, you should know who Ward is. He is not only a shipping magnate, but also has a deep political background. Without sufficient evidence, we cannot easily search him."
"I understand your concerns, Officer," Lynn hurriedly explained, "but we don't have much time left. The new drug is rampant in the market, and innocent people are suffering every day. We must act as soon as possible!"
His superior sighed and shook his head: "Lynn, I appreciate your sense of responsibility, but this matter involves too many complex factors. We cannot act rashly."
"But Officer…" Lynn wanted to argue, but was interrupted by his superior's wave.
"Alright, Lynn. I will seriously consider your proposal, but now I need time to weigh the pros and cons," his superior said, "You can go out first."
Lynn reluctantly exited the office. He knew that his superior's concerns were not unreasonable, but his inner sense of justice urged him not to give up. He decided to find another way to uncover the secret of Ward's warehouse.
Just as Lynn was deep in thought, an unexpected call broke his train of thought. It was his good friend and partner, Hans.
"Lynn, I just got some news that might help our case," Hans's voice revealed a hint of excitement.
"What news? Tell me quickly!" Lynn asked eagerly.
"According to my informant, Ward has a large transaction about to take place recently, and the location of the transaction is his mysterious warehouse," Hans said, "This might be a good opportunity for us to sneak into the warehouse."
Lynn's eyes lit up after hearing this: "This is really good news! We have to plan it well."
The two discussed for a long time and finally formulated a detailed plan. They decided to disguise themselves as the transaction party's personnel and infiltrate the warehouse on the day of the transaction to secretly collect evidence.
However, the night before they were about to act, an accident happened. Ward suddenly announced the cancellation of the transaction and strengthened the security measures of the warehouse. This undoubtedly brought great obstacles to Lynn and Hans's plan.
"Damn it! This Ward is truly cunning!" Lynn angrily slammed his fist on the table, "What do we do now?"
Hans pondered for a moment and then said, "Perhaps we still have a chance." He looked at Lynn, "Do you remember the small thug we caught before? He might know something about the internal situation of Ward's warehouse."
Lynn nodded after hearing this: "You're right! Let's go find him now!"
The two quickly drove to the detention center and found the small thug who had been caught before. After some threats and inducements, the small thug finally relented and revealed some important information about Ward's warehouse.
It turned out that there was a hidden secret door inside Ward's warehouse, which led directly to his private office. And that was where Ward hid the new drugs.
After obtaining this key information, Lynn and Hansdecided to act immediately. They successfully infiltrated the warehouse using the clues provided by the small thug and found Ward's private office.
Ward was not present at this time, but the office was filled with various drugs and transaction records. Lynnand Hans quickly took photos and collected evidence, and prepared to leave the scene.
However, at this moment, the alarm suddenly sounded. It turned out that their actions had been discovered by the warehouse's security system. A large number of armed guards quickly rushed to surround them.
"Run!" Lynn shouted, pulling Hans and rushing towards the exit. The two engaged in a thrilling chase in the warehouse. They used the obstacles and architectural features in the warehouse to outmaneuver the guards for a long time, and finally found a breakthrough and escaped.
The night was as dark as ink, and the streets of Manhattan were exceptionally quiet. Lynn and Hans, based on previous intelligence, quietly went to Ward's warehouse for investigation. They knew the trip was dangerous, but their belief in justice urged them forward.
The two shuttled through the dim alleys, and suddenly, a strange aura permeated the air. Lynn and Hansexchanged glances, both feeling something unusual.
"Be careful, something's happening," Lynn whispered.
As soon as he finished speaking, several figures darted out from the shadows, blocking their way. These people looked different from ordinary people, and were obviously Mutants under Ward's command.
"Who are you? Why are you trespassing on our territory?" a leading Mutant asked coldly, his voice hoarse and low, revealing an unquestionable authority.
Lynn and Hans did not answer, they knew that any words at this moment were superfluous. The two tacitly exchanged a look, and then entered a fighting state.
Seeing this, the Mutants also assumed attacking postures. A fierce battle was about to break out.
A hint of cunning flashed in the leading Mutant's eyes. He suddenly waved his hand, and a wave of energy attacked Lynn. Lynn reacted quickly, dodging the attack with a roll, while drawing his pistol from his waist to counterattack.
Hans, on the other hand, was entangled with another Mutant. He was agile, and every punch accurately hit the opponent. But the Mutant's body was unusually tough and seemed to be unaffected much.
The battle entered a white-hot stage, with both sides going back and forth, fighting to a standstill. Although Lynn and Hans cooperated tacitly, they still felt a little struggling against these Mutants with supernatural abilities.
"This won't work, we have to come up with a strategy," Lynn shouted to Hans while dodging attacks.
Hans nodded, and he quickly thought about countermeasures. Suddenly, he noticed that the leading Mutant always maintained a certain distance during the battle, seemingly controlling the actions of the other Mutants.
"Lynn, cover me, I'll take care of the leader!" Hansshouted, and suddenly rushed towards the leading Mutant.
Seeing this, Lynn immediately increased his firepower, creating an opportunity for Hans. The pistol in his hand was like the God of Death's scythe, and every shot made the Mutants tremble.
Hans took the opportunity to approach the leading Mutant, and a swift pounce subdued him to the ground. The leading Mutant struggled to resist, but Hans's strength was far beyond ordinary people, and he firmly held him down, unable to move.
The other Mutants stopped attacking when they saw this, seemingly shocked by the capture of their leader. Lynnalso took the opportunity to put away his pistol and walked to Hans's side.
"Speak! Where is Ward? Where are the new drugs hidden?" Hans asked sharply.
The leading Mutant just sneered: "You think you can find Ward just by catching me? Don't dream about it!"
Lynn frowned, he knew that asking further would yield no results. So, he motioned for Hans to take him back to FBI Headquarters for interrogation.
The two escorted the leading Mutant away from the scene, but they knew this was just the beginning. Ward's influence was vast and complex, and it would not be easy to completely expose his crimes. However, their belief in justice supported them, and no matter how difficult it was, they would not give up.
On the way back to FBI Headquarters, the leading Mutant suddenly exerted force and broke free from his restraints. He lunged at Hans, attempting to regain the initiative. Hans reacted quickly, kicking him to the ground with a side kick. The leading Mutant roared and attacked again.
This time he directly rushed towards Lynn, seemingly wanting to threaten Hans by grabbing Lynn. But how could Lynn be an ordinary person? He agilely dodged the leading Mutant's attack, and at the same time, countered with a heavy punch to his abdomen.
The leading Mutant bent over in pain, but he did not give up resisting. He struggled to stand up, and his hands condensed powerful energy waves that attacked Lynnand Hans.
"Watch out!" Hans shouted, pulling Lynn to quickly dodge. The energy waves exploded behind them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The leading Mutant took the opportunity to try to escape, but how could Lynn and Hans let him easily escape? The two quickly chased after him, and engaged in the final decisive battle with the leading Mutant.
After a fierce battle, the leading Mutant was finally completely subdued by the two. He slumped on the ground, panting heavily, his eyes full of unwillingness and anger. Lynn and Hans smiled at each other, they knew that this victory was hard-won, but it also laid a solid foundation for their subsequent actions.
"Let's go, we still have a long way to go," Lynn said to the leading Mutant, "I hope you can cooperate with us to find Ward and the new drugs."
The leading Mutant did not speak, but a hint of wavering had already appeared in his eyes.
The next day.
Lynn stood in front of the gate of Ward's company and took a deep breath. He knew that what he was about to face would be a tough battle. Ward, this shipping magnate, was not only wealthy but also known for his cunning and wit. It would be by no means easy to extract useful information from him. But Lynn still decided to meet him in person, even if it was just to test the waters.
He straightened his collar and walked into Ward Company with firm steps. The receptionist at the front desk saw Lynn and politely asked, "Sir, how may I help you?"
"I'm Lynn from the FBI, here to speak with Mr. Ward about some matters," Lynn said, showing his identification with a serious tone.
Seeing that it was someone from the FBI, the receptionist immediately became nervous. She quickly picked up the phone and reported the situation internally. Soon, a well-dressed middle-aged man walked out; it was Ward.
"Mr. Lynn, what an unexpected visit, I apologize for not greeting you sooner," Ward said with a smile, though his tone revealed a hint of wariness.
"Mr. Ward, no need to be polite, I'm just here to have a chat with you," Lynn tried to lighten the atmosphere, but he knew this conversation would be anything but simple.
The two went to Ward's office. Ward gestured for Lynn to sit down, then personally poured him a cup of tea.
"Mr. Lynn, may I ask what brings you here today?" Ward slowly began, a shrewd glint in his eyes.
Lynn picked up the teacup, took a small sip, then put it down. He looked directly into Ward's eyes and said, "Mr. Ward, we've recently received some reports suggesting your company might be involved in some illegal activities. I know you're a busy man, so I specifically came to confirm this with you."
Upon hearing this, Ward's brows furrowed slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. He chuckled lightly and said, "Mr. Lynn, as you know, there's always some gossip in business. But I can assure you, my company has always operated legally and has never been involved in any illegal activities."
Lynn nodded, seemingly unsurprised by Ward's answer. He changed the subject and continued, "So, Mr. Ward, what are your thoughts on the new type of drug that has recently appeared on the market?"
Ward's expression shifted slightly, but quickly returned to normal. He shook his head and said, "Mr. Lynn, you've certainly asked the wrong person. I'm just a businessman; I avoid such illegal matters like the plague."
"Oh? Is that so?" Lynn's lips curved into a meaningful smile. "But I heard that traces of this drug were once found in your warehouse."
Ward's face finally changed completely. He abruptly stood up and said sternly, "Mr. Lynn, please don't make baseless accusations! How could there be such a thing in my warehouse? If you have evidence, bring it out! If not, please leave now!"
Lynn also stood up, meeting Ward's gaze. He knew that he hadn't come with conclusive evidence this time, only to test Ward's reaction. It seemed Ward was indeed not simple; his reaction was watertight, making him hard to fathom.
"Mr. Ward, don't get agitated. I only heard about it; I don't have conclusive evidence," Lynn said slowly. "However, I believe that one day, we will find the evidence. At that time, I hope you can still be as calm as you are now."
Ward took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He sat back down and looked at Lynn, saying, "Mr. Lynn, you are welcome to investigate anytime. But I can guarantee, you won't find anything."
Lynn smiled and said nothing. He knew that this contest had just begun, and there was still a long way to go to truly expose Ward's crimes. But he also firmly believed that as long as they persevered, the truth would eventually come to light.
After a few more irrelevant exchanges, Lynn stood up to leave. Ward escorted him to the door, still wearing a polite smile, but his eyes revealed a hint of coldness.
Lynn walked out of Ward Company's main entrance and looked back at the towering building. He knew that this struggle was far from over. Although Ward had temporarily escaped this predicament, the FBI would never give up their investigation of him. And Lynn was determined to bring this heinous shipping magnate to justice.
Inside Ward's private office, the atmosphere was exceptionally tense. The heavy curtains were tightly drawn, blocking out the external light, with only the desk lamp emitting a dim glow. Ward sat behind his large desk, his brows tightly furrowed, his eyes flickering with a sinister light.
"That Lynn, he's not simple," Ward's voice was low and hoarse, revealing an undeniable authority. "He has interfered with our plans multiple times. If we let him continue like this, our situation will become very dangerous."
Standing before Ward was one of his capable subordinates, a burly man with a fierce face. He listened to Ward's words, a ruthless expression appearing on his face: "Boss, do you mean..."
Ward raised his hand and made a cutting gesture: "If possible, we must get rid of him."
A flicker of surprise crossed the subordinate's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by cruelty and cunning: "I understand, Boss. I will personally handle this matter and ensure no traces are left."
Ward nodded, a satisfied smile appearing on his face: "Very good, I knew you wouldn't disappoint me. Remember, it must be done cleanly and efficiently; no one must detect our actions."
"Yes, Boss," the subordinate respectfully replied, turning to leave.
However, just then, the office door was suddenly pushed open, and an urgent voice came: "Mr. Ward, it's bad! Lynn, he..."
Ward and his subordinate were both startled and quickly turned around. They saw a breathless henchman standing at the door, his face filled with terror.
"What happened to Lynn?" Ward asked in a deep voice, a premonition of disaster rising in his heart.
The henchman stammered, "Lynn, he... he already knows our plan and is now bringing people to the company."
"What?!" Ward abruptly stood up, his face turning ashen. "How is this possible? Our plan has always been very secretive; how could he know?"
The subordinate also showed a panicked expression: "Boss, what should we do now? If Lynn really brings people, we..."
Ward took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. He knew that panicking at this moment would only put him in a more dangerous situation. He pondered for a moment, then decisively made a decision: "Quick, notify everyone to evacuate the company immediately. We cannot let Lynn catch any evidence."
"Yes, Boss," the subordinate and henchman replied, quickly turning to leave.
Ward watched their retreating figures, a sinister glint in his eyes. He knew that this confrontation with Lynn had reached a critical point. If he could successfully escape and get rid of Lynn, then the future path would be bright. But if he failed... he dared not imagine the consequences.
The next day, before the morning sun had fully dispelled the mist, Lynn's phone rang urgently. He quickly answered, and his police colleague's anxious voice came through the receiver: "Lynn, a heinous crime has occurred in the East District. A family of three was brutally murdered in their Villa. Come to the scene quickly!"
Lynn's heart sank. He quickly grabbed his car keys from the table and hurried out of his house. All the way, possible crime scenes flashed through his mind, and he secretly prayed that this case was not related to the Mutants.
Upon arriving at the scene, Lynn was shocked by the horrific sight. The Villa's front door was open, and several pale-faced police Officers stood at the entrance; they were clearly frightened by the bloody scene as well. Lynnwalked into the house and saw three bodies lying on the living room floor. Their bodies were covered with various wounds, and blood flowed everywhere, already congealed into a dark red.
"Hans, what do you think?" Lynn turned to his partner, Hans, an experienced detective whose judgment often provided important clues for solving cases.
Hans frowned deeply, squatting down to carefully examine the wounds on the bodies. After a moment, he stood up and said in a solemn tone, "These wounds don't look like they could have been caused by ordinary humans. It's highly likely they were caused by a Mutant. Look here," he pointed to a wound on the neck of one of the deceased, "this kind of tearing wound was clearly caused by someone with immense power."
Chapter 187 Tracking the Mercedes
Lynn nodded; he knew Hans's judgment was very reasonable. But this also meant that they might once again face those elusive Mutants. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions: "We must find evidence as soon as possible to prove that it was the Mutants. At the same time, we must also strengthen patrols to prevent similar incidents from happening again."
Hans nodded in agreement, and the two began to work together, carefully searching every corner of the Villa. However, although they searched the entire Villa, they did not find any valuable clues. This made Lynn feel very frustrated; he knew that without conclusive evidence, it would be difficult for them to bring the culprit to justice.
As night fell, under the dim streetlights, Lynn and Hans, dressed in dark plain clothes, quietly approached the luxurious Villa located in the suburbs. Their steps were light and firm, and their eyes revealed the unique keenness and courage of detectives.
"Lynn, are you sure there will be clues here?" Hans asked in a low voice, his fingers gently rubbing the detective equipment at his waist, which had been his powerful assistant in solving cases for many years.
Lynn did not answer immediately, but instead looked up at the high walls and tightly closed gate of the Villa, a hint of determination flashing in his eyes. "The security system here is so strict; if there wasn't an inside man, how could those jewels disappear without a trace?"
Hans nodded; he knew that Lynn's reasoning had always been precise, which was also the key to them partnering for many years and solving many strange cases.
The two bypassed the main entrance and came to a grove of trees on the side of the Villa. Lynn took out a small device and carefully scanned the surrounding wireless signals. "It seems their security system does indeed have loopholes." Lynn's mouth curved into a slight smile, and the device in his hand emitted a faint beeping sound, indicating an unknown entrance.
Hans followed closely behind Lynn, passed through the grove, and arrived at a hidden side door. Lynn skillfully pried open the lock, and the two quickly entered the Villa.
The interior of the Villa was luxuriously decorated but exuded a sense of desolation. Lynn and Hans had a clear division of labor: one was responsible for checking the surveillance system, and the other began to search for possible clues.
"Hans, look here!" Lynn suddenly whispered, standing by a window and pointing to a subtle scratch on the window frame.
Hans quickly moved closer and saw that where Lynnpointed, there was indeed an almost imperceptible fingerprint. "This is…" A hint of surprise flashed in Hans's eyes.
"That's right, this is the fingerprint of the habitual criminal Roger." Lynn said affirmatively, taking out a small fingerprint comparison device from his pocket and comparing the fingerprint on the window frame with the previously stored data.
Roger, this name held significant weight in both their minds. He was an extremely cunning thief who had escaped from Police encirclement many times, leaving very few clues.
"How could he be here?" Hans asked with a frown.
"This precisely shows that we are on the right track." A hint of excitement flashed in Lynn's eyes, "Roger would not appear here for no reason; he must be related to this jewel theft."
Hans nodded, and he began to carefully examine the traces around the window, trying to find Roger's entry and exit paths. Meanwhile, Lynn took out his phone and began to contact the Police, requesting backup.
Just then, a sudden rush of footsteps came from outside the Villa. The two exchanged glances, immediately realizing that Roger might have returned.
"Quick, we need to find a place to hide." Lynn whispered, quickly scanning the surroundings, then pointing to a hidden closet, "There!"
The two quickly hid in the closet, tightly closing the door. Through the crack in the closet, they could see what was happening outside.
Soon, the Villa's front door was violently pushed open, and a figure rushed in. The person was tall, wearing a black trench coat, with the brim of their hat pulled low, obscuring their face. But from the familiar figure and movements, Lynn and Hans both recognized that it was indeed Roger.
Roger seemed very flustered; he kept looking back, as if confirming whether anyone was following him. Then, he walked directly to the window with the fingerprint and began to try to open it.
"He wants to escape!" Hans whispered.
Lynn said nothing, his eyes fixed on Roger's movements. After several attempts, Roger seemed to realize the window was locked, and he began to look around anxiously.
Just then, Lynn suddenly pushed open the closet door and rushed out. "Roger, don't move!" he shouted.
Roger was startled by the sudden sound; he spun around abruptly and met Lynn's gaze. In that moment, a hint of panic flashed in his eyes, but he quickly composed himself.
"Who are you? How are you here?" Roger asked, feigning calmness.
"We are detectives investigating the jewel theft." Lynnsaid coldly, "And you, Roger, are our prime suspect."
Upon hearing this, Roger's expression changed slightly, but he still tried to remain calm. "Do you have any evidence?" he asked provocatively.
"The fingerprint on the window frame is the evidence." Hans walked out of the closet, holding the fingerprint comparison device in his hand, "Your fingerprint perfectly matches the one left at the scene."
Roger looked at the fingerprint on the window frame, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes. He knew he was truly caught this time.
However, Roger was not one to give up easily. He took a deep breath, then suddenly charged towards Lynn and Hans. "Since you want to catch me, then come on!" he roared, trying to break through their encirclement.
Lynn and Hans were prepared; they reacted quickly, flanking Roger from left and right. After a fierce struggle, Roger was finally subdued by the two.
"Do you think you can catch me like this?" Roger lay on the ground, panting, "Let me tell you, you are still too young."
"Young doesn't mean ignorant." Lynn looked at Rogercoldly, "We already know your criminal methods perfectly. Now, just await legal judgment."
After speaking, Lynn took out his phone and called the Police. Soon after, Police lights flashed and sirens wailed, and Roger was taken away by the Police. Lynn and Hansstood at the entrance of the Villa, watching the departing Police car, a victorious smile on their faces.
In the interrogation room, the lighting was dim and somber. Lynn sat at a metal table, his eyes sharp as knives, staring directly at Roger opposite him. Roger was handcuffed to a chair, his face pale, but his eyes gleamed with stubbornness.
"Roger, you are currently facing charges of murder and theft." Lynn's voice was calm and firm, "We have enough evidence to convict you."
Upon hearing this, Roger's mouth curved into a mocking smile. "Convict? Evidence? Your so-called evidence, is it just those fingerprints and surveillance footage?" He shook his head, "That only proves I stole something, but it doesn't prove I killed anyone."
Lynn frowned slightly, and he took out a report, "We found your DNA at the scene, how do you explain that?"
The smile on Roger's face disappeared; he widened his eyes and looked at the report, as if he couldn't believe his eyes. "This is impossible!" he roared, "When I went there, the family of three was already dead! I just stole some things, I didn't kill anyone at all!"
"Then why were you there? Why did you choose that time?" Lynn pressed on.
Roger was silent for a while, seemingly organizing his thoughts. "I… I received an anonymous text message telling me there were valuable things to steal there. When I went, the house was already empty, only those jewels remained." He looked up at Lynn, "I really didn't kill anyone, you have to believe me."
Lynn said nothing; he looked deeply at Roger, then stood up. "I will find out." he said, "If what you say is true, I will find evidence to prove your innocence. But if you are lying…"
Roger interrupted Lynn: "I'm not lying! Everything I said is true!" His voice was full of determination and urgency.
Lynn nodded and turned to leave the interrogation room. He knew that this case was far more complex than imagined. Roger's confession, while somewhat sincere, still needed further verification.
A few days later, Lynn returned to the interrogation room. This time, he brought a new report and a piece of surveillance footage.
"Roger, we investigated the anonymous text message you mentioned." Lynn handed the report to Roger. "The phone that sent the message was a disposable one, discarded after use, making it impossible to trace the sender."
Roger looked at the report, a hint of disappointment on his face. He had thought this lead would clear his name, but now it seemed hope was dashed.
However, Lynn's next words rekindled his hope. "But, we found this." Lynn played the surveillance footage.
In the video, a blurry Shadow entered the house before the incident. Although his face was unclear, his build and movements indicated he was not Roger.
"Who is this person?" Roger asked in surprise.
"We are still investigating," Lynn said. "However, this footage at least proves that you were not the only one who entered the scene. Perhaps, the real culprit is him."
Roger breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the heavy burden on his shoulders lighten. "Thank you," he said sincerely. "I know I've made many mistakes before, but this time I truly didn't kill anyone. I hope you can find the real killer as soon as possible."
Lynn nodded. "We will do our best," he said. "However, you cannot be completely cleared of suspicion. Until conclusive evidence is found, you still need to stay here."
Roger said nothing, nodding silently. He knew his past crimes made it difficult for the Police to fully trust him. However, he also believed that as long as Lynn and his team could find the real killer, he would regain his freedom.
In the following days, Lynn and his colleagues launched an in-depth investigation. They tracked the blurry Shadow's movements, screened people who had contact with the victim's family, and even conducted a detailed inquiry into Roger's past.
However, the investigation did not go smoothly. The blurry Shadow seemed to be an expert, his whereabouts mysterious and elusive. And the victim's family's social circle was complex, with everyone potentially being the killer.
Just as Lynn was feeling overwhelmed, an unexpected clue provided a breakthrough. It turned out that an old accomplice of Roger had been in contact with the victim's family before the incident and had harbored resentment for years due to a past grievance.
After further investigation and interrogation, this accomplice finally confessed to being the killer and detailed the crime process. It turned out he had exploited Roger's greed for jewelry, deliberately sending anonymous text messages to lure Roger into a trap, and then seized the opportunity to kill the victims.
With the truth revealed, Roger was acquitted and released. As he walked out of the interrogation room, he saw Lynn waiting outside.
"Thank you," Roger said sincerely. "If it weren't for you, I might never have been able to clear my name."
Lynn shook his head. "I just did what I should do," he said. "I hope you can turn over a new leaf and start fresh."
Roger said nothing, he looked deeply at Lynn, then turned and left.
Under the night sky, the city's neon lights flickered, and the streets were bustling with traffic. Lynn and Hansstood at a busy intersection, their eyes fixed on the passing vehicles. They were investigating a bizarre case, and the road surveillance footage from the day of the incident became a crucial clue in their hands.
"Hans, look! That White Mercedes, isn't it very similar to the vehicle that appeared in the surveillance?" Lynnsuddenly pointed at a speeding car on the screen.
Hans quickly leaned closer, compared carefully, and nodded, "That's right, it's this car! The license plate number matches too, we need to follow it!"
The two immediately started their car, merged into the traffic, and followed the White Mercedes closely. The Mercedes seemed unaware that it was being followed, speeding through several blocks and finally stopping outside a car pub.
Lynn and Hans parked their car some distance away, observing the Mercedes' movements. The car door opened, and a man in a black suit got out. He looked around and then walked into the pub.
"It seems we've found the right place," Lynn whispered. "This man is likely the key person we're looking for."
Hans nodded. "We need to be careful and not alert them. I'll go into the pub first to check the situation, and you continue to monitor from here."
With that, Hans got out of the car and walked into the pub as if nothing was amiss. Lynn remained in the car, continuing to observe the Mercedes and the surroundings.
Soon after, Hans emerged from the pub, his expression a bit grim. "Lynn, the situation is a bit complicated. That man is secretly talking with a group of people in the pub. I vaguely heard them mention words like 'transaction' and 'goods'."
Lynn frowned. "It seems we've indeed uncovered a big case. However, now we need to find a way to approach that man and get more information."
Hans nodded. "I have a plan, but it requires our seamless cooperation."
The two quickly discussed for a bit, then began their action. Lynn remained in the car to continue monitoring, while Hans changed his clothes and re-entered the pub.
This time, Hans walked directly to the man's table. He pretended to be a casual passerby and sat down in the empty seat next to the man. The man looked at him warily but said nothing.
Hans deliberately started talking to the others at the table, trying to attract the man's attention. Sure enough, after a while, the man initiative started chatting with him. Hans took the opportunity to ask the man about the "transaction" and "goods." Although the man was a bit wary, he still revealed some information.
Just then, Lynn suddenly sent a message: The Mercedes has started and seems to be preparing to leave! Hans was startled. He quickly found an excuse to leave the table, walked out of the pub, and met up with Lynn.
"Quick! We need to follow that car!" Lynn said urgently.
The two quickly got into the car, started the engine, and closely followed the Mercedes. The Mercedes seemed to sense something and began to accelerate, trying to shake off its pursuers. But Lynn and Hans were experienced detectives; they chased without fear.
A thrilling chase unfolded under the night sky. The Mercedes constantly changed lanes, ran red lights, and even drove against traffic, trying to escape the pursuit. But Lynn and Hans relentlessly followed, their driving skills and reaction speed at their peak.
Finally, at a secluded street corner, the Mercedes was forced to stop. The car door opened, and the man in the black suit got out in a panic, trying to escape. But Lynnand Hans had already quickly exited their car and stopped him.
"Who are you? Why are you chasing me?" the man asked in terror.
"We are the Police." Lynn showed his badge. "You are suspected of involvement in a major case, and we need your cooperation in the investigation."
The man's face changed. He tried to resist, but was quickly subdued by Lynn and Hans. The two quickly escorted the man into the car, then drove away from the scene.
"Finally caught him!" Hans said with a sigh of relief.
Lynn nodded. "This was truly thrilling. However, we still need to investigate this case further to see what secrets are hidden behind it."
The night was hazy, and a black sedan sped along the highway. Inside the car, Lynn sat in the driver's seat, and the passenger seat was occupied by the suspect he had just apprehended—a criminal involved in multiple major cases. Their destination was FBI Headquarters, where Lynn planned to hand over the suspect to a specialized team for interrogation.
The atmosphere inside the car was tense and silent, broken only by the sound of rolling wheels and the occasional siren. Lynn glanced at the suspect beside him from time to time, his eyes flashing with vigilance.
Suddenly, the suspect abruptly sat up, his eyes shooting out fierce glares. He quickly scanned his surroundings, then unexpectedly launched an attack on Lynn.
"What are you doing?!" Lynn exclaimed, quickly reacting and trying to restrain the suspect. But the suspect was incredibly strong; he broke free from Lynn's grasp and punched Lynn hard in the face.
Chapter 188 Will Ward Escape?
Lynn only had time to turn his head, avoiding the heavy blow, but his cheek still felt a burning pain. He secretly cried out in dismay, knowing that this sudden battle was extremely unfavorable to him. In the narrow carriage, he couldn't fully unleash himself, while the suspect was like a raging Beast, constantly launching fierce attacks.
"Damn it, are you crazy?!" Lynn roared, doing his best to resist the suspect's offensive. His arm was gripped painfully by the suspect, but he didn't flinch, fiercely kneeing the suspect in the abdomen.
The suspect grunted in pain, his movements slowing slightly. Lynn took the opportunity to break free from his control, quickly pulled out his pistol from his waist, and pointed it at the suspect's head.
"Don't move! I'll shoot if you move again!" Lynn shouted sharply.
However, the suspect acted as if he hadn't heard, continuing to pounce on Lynn. Lynn, having no choice, pulled the trigger. However, at this critical moment, the pistol unexpectedly jammed.
"Damn it!" Lynn cursed inwardly, throwing the pistol aside and fighting the suspect bare-handed.
The two engaged in a fierce hand-to-hand combat in the carriage. Although Lynn was agile and skilled in fighting, the suspect's strength and wildness made him feel extremely strenuous. Every impact made him feel as if his bones were about to fall apart.
However, Lynn had no intention of giving up. He knew he couldn't lose; he had to bring this dangerous criminal to justice. He gritted his teeth, fighting with all his might against the suspect.
Time passed minute by minute, and the battle in the carriage became increasingly fierce. Both Lynn and the suspect were covered in sweat and panting heavily. But neither side showed any intention of giving up, constantly launching attacks and defenses.
Finally, in a fierce confrontation, Lynn seized an opening in the suspect's defense, delivering a heavy punch fiercely to the suspect's Sun temple. The suspect only had time to let out a scream before collapsing softly onto the seat.
Lynn panted heavily, looking at the suspect slumped in the seat. He knew the battle was over, and he had finally defeated this dangerous criminal. He felt a wave of weakness wash over him, but he still endured the discomfort, pulled the car over to the side of the road, and called for help.
Soon after, backup police cars arrived at the scene. His colleagues were startled to see Lynn covered in blood and disheveled. But when they saw the suspect subdued in the seat, they all showed expressions of admiration.
"Lynn, you're amazing! You actually subdued this dangerous criminal all by yourself!" A colleague patted Lynn's shoulder and praised him.
Lynn smiled bitterly and shook his head, "Don't mention it, this was really a close call." He felt as if his body had been emptied, utterly exhausted. "Let's take him back to Headquarters first. I need to rest."
With the help of his colleagues, Lynn escorted the suspect back to FBI Headquarters and received simple medical treatment. After that, he returned to his office, sat down in his chair, and let out a long sigh, still feeling lingering fear from the intense battle, but also proud and relieved by his victory.
Inside the interrogation room, the light was pale and cold. Lynn sat at one end of the table, his gaze like a torch, staring at the suspect opposite him. This was a battle of wits and psychology, and he, as an elite FBI Agent, had to find the truth in this confrontation.
The suspect was handcuffed to the chair, his expression seemingly calm, but a hint of unease was hidden in his eyes. Lynn knew clearly that this was the critical moment for a breakthrough.
"Tell me, who ordered you to commit this crime?" Lynn's voice was calm and firm, as if it could penetrate the suspect's mind.
The suspect twitched the corner of his mouth, revealing a disdainful smile, "No one ordered me; I did everything myself."
Lynn frowned slightly; he didn't believe the suspect's statement. Based on his many years of experience, someone must be behind this case. He took a deep breath, deciding to adopt another strategy.
"Do you think you can bear all the charges? We already have enough evidence to know that you are not the mastermind." Lynn's tone carried a hint of threat. "Tell the truth now, and you might still get some leniency."
The suspect's gaze wavered slightly, but quickly returned to calm, "I really don't know what you're talking about."
Seeing this, Lynn understood that this interrogation would not be that simple. He decided to attack from a different angle, "Alright, since you won't say, then I'll guess." He deliberately paused, observing the suspect's reaction, "Was it Ward who ordered you?"
When the suspect heard the name "Ward," a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. Although it was only a brief moment, Lynn captured this detail.
"It seems I guessed correctly." Lynn continued, "What benefits did Ward give you? Money? Status? Or something else?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." The suspect remained stubborn, but his eyes had already begun to flicker.
Lynn was secretly delighted, knowing he had found a breakthrough. He decided to press on, "Stop pretending, we already have evidence of Ward's connection to you. He might have already fled, leaving you to take the fall. Are you really willing to sacrifice yourself for him?"
These words seemed to touch the suspect's heart. He lowered his head, remained silent for a moment, then suddenly looked up, his eyes flashing with anger, "That bastard Ward! He promised me a large sum of money and a better life, but now he's left me here!"
Seeing this, Lynn knew he had successfully opened the suspect's heart. He remained calm, continuing to guide the suspect to reveal more truth, "So, what exactly did Ward make you do?"
The suspect took a deep breath and began to recount his dealings with Ward and the entire criminal plan. As he spoke, Lynn gradually understood the truth of the entire case. It turned out that Ward had exploited the suspect's greed and weaknesses, drawing him into this criminal case.
After the interrogation, Lynn felt a sense of relief. He had finally uncovered the truth of this case and provided important clues for the upcoming pursuit. He knew that this confrontation was not over yet, but he was confident that he would bring Ward to justice.
However, just as Lynn was about to leave the interrogation room, the suspect suddenly called out to him, "Agent, can I ask you a question?"
Lynn stopped and looked back at the suspect, "Go ahead."
"Will Ward really escape? Will he come back to save me?" The suspect's eyes revealed a hint of hope.
Lynn looked at the suspect, understanding his thoughts. He sighed, "I don't know if Ward will come back to save you. But what I can tell you is, whether he comes back or not, you must pay for your crimes." After speaking, he turned and left the interrogation room, leaving the suspect in silence. Although this interrogation was over, for Lynn, this was just the beginning of the pursuit of Ward.
As night fell, the city's neon lights flickered with a cold glow. Lynn and Hans moved through the streets and alleys, with only one goal – to capture the fugitive Ward.
"Lynn, are you sure Ward is hiding here?" Hans looked at the towering skyscraper in front of them, which was Ward's company and their destination for this operation.
Lynn's eyes were firm, "According to the clues we have, Ward frequently visited here before he fled. Moreover, there have always been rumors of illegal activities at his company. I believe there must be a secret hiding place for him here."
The two quickly entered the building, avoided the patrolling security guards, and headed straight for Ward's office. However, when they pushed open the office door, they found it empty.
"It seems Ward has escaped." Hans looked around, a hint of disappointment in his voice.
Lynn, however, was not discouraged, "He can't escape. Let's split up and search; there must be clues he left behind here."
The two split up, carefully searching every corner of the office. Suddenly, Lynn discovered a hidden entrance to a secret room. He was overjoyed and immediately called Hans over.
"It seems we've found it." Lynn pushed open the door to the secret room, and a cold aura rushed out. The inside of the secret room was dim and narrow, filled with various strange instruments and medicines.
Hans looked at the scene before him, frowning, "What exactly is this place?"
Lynn didn't answer; his gaze was drawn to several test tubes in the center of the secret room. What was in those test tubes was the new type of drug they had been tracking.
"We found it!" Lynn exclaimed, excitedly picking up a test tube. "This is the new type of drug Ward has been secretly developing. This evidence is enough to convict him!"
However, just as the two were about to leave with the evidence, the secret room door suddenly shut. Immediately after, an eerie laugh echoed through the secret room.
"What do you think you've found? Haha, how ridiculous!" Ward's voice came from a hidden speaker, full of mockery and provocation.
Lynn and Hans exchanged glances, not expecting Ward to have left a contingency plan. Now, they were trapped in this secret room, while Ward was likely somewhere laughing at their incompetence.
"Ward, do you think you can trap us like this?" Lynnshouted. "You're wrong! We'll find a way out and bring you to justice!"
Ward's laughter abruptly stopped, replaced by a chilling voice: "Then let's see if you have what it takes."
The atmosphere in the secret room immediately became tense. Lynn and Hans began searching for an exit, but the room's design was exceptionally clever; they seemed to be caught in a dead loop.
Time was ticking away, and the two became increasingly anxious. They knew that if they couldn't find a way out soon, they might be trapped here forever.
"Hans, look at this!" Lynn suddenly discovered a switch hidden on the wall. "Could this be the secret room's exit?"
Hans quickly came over to examine it. "Possibly! Let's give it a try."
The two pressed the switch together, and a section of the secret room's wall slowly moved aside, revealing a passage. Their hearts filled with joy, and they immediately followed the passage forward.
However, when they exited the passage, they found themselves not back in Ward's office, but in an even darker Underground Room. It was filled with various discarded items and damaged instruments, looking like a long-abandoned laboratory.
"Where are we?" Hans looked around, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Lynn's eyes, however, gleamed with a hint of light. "This must be Ward's laboratory for developing drugs. Look at these discarded items and instruments; they're all products of the drug manufacturing process." He paused, "And I believe the exit must be nearby."
The two began to search the Underground Roomcarefully. After some effort, they finally found an exit hidden in a corner. When they pushed open the exit door, a breath of fresh air rushed in, and they knew they had successfully escaped the danger.
However, when they emerged from the Underground Room, they found that Ward had vanished. They immediately contacted the police for a city-wide manhunt, but Ward had disappeared without a trace, as if he had evaporated into thin air.
A few days later, on a clear afternoon, the Sun shone through the clouds, casting light on the city's streets and alleys. Lynn and Hans were busy investigating a robbery case, analyzing the case on the office whiteboard, marking the possible whereabouts of suspects.
Suddenly, Lynn's phone vibrated. He glanced at the screen; it was a message from his subordinate: "New drug deal at the port, please come quickly."
Lynn frowned, relaying the message to Hans. Hansimmediately tidied up the documents on his desk. "We need to hurry over and see if it's related to Ward."
The two quickly left the office and drove to the port. Along the way, Lynn's mind kept flashing back to the new drugs found in the secret room and the escaped Ward. His unease grew stronger and stronger.
When they arrived at the port, they could hear gunshots and shouts from afar. The two cautiously approached the source of the sound and found a group of drug dealers engaged in a fierce firefight with several FBI Agents.
"What's going on?" Hans asked in surprise.
"Not sure, but it looks like these drug dealers came prepared." Lynn observed the battle, noticing that the drug dealers were not only well-equipped but also coordinated their tactics well.
Suddenly, a drug dealer spotted them and raised his gun, firing at them. Lynn and Hans quickly dodged, simultaneously drawing their weapons to return fire.
"We need to find a way to support those Agents!" Lynnshouted.
"Understood!" Hans responded, and the two began to move separately, using the port's containers and stacked items as cover, gradually approaching the center of the exchange of Fire.
In the intense firefight, Lynn and Hans continuously fired, trying to distract the drug dealers. However, the drug dealers seemed fearless, attacking even more frantically.
"Why are these drug dealers fighting so desperately?" Hans asked, puzzled.
"I don't know, but I feel like they're protecting something," Lynn speculated.
Just then, they saw a drug dealer trying to escape the scene with a mysterious package. Lynn and Hansexchanged a look and immediately gave chase.
During the pursuit, they continuously fired, trying to stop the drug dealer's escape. However, the drug dealer rushed forward as if his life depended on it; that package seemed more important to him than his own life.
Finally, at a corner, Lynn and Hans successfully intercepted the drug dealer. Seeing this, the drug dealer immediately dropped the package and pulled out a pistol, aiming it at them.
"Don't move!" Lynn shouted, simultaneously aiming his gun at the drug dealer.
However, the drug dealer sneered and suddenly pulled the pin on the grenade in his hand. Lynn and Hansretreated in horror, simultaneously firing at the drug dealer. The grenade exploded in the drug dealer's hand, blowing him to pieces.
After the explosion, Lynn and Hans cautiously approached the mysterious package. When they opened it, they were surprised to find it filled with new types of drugs.
"How did these drugs get here?" Hans asked in surprise.
"I'm not sure, but these drugs are definitely related to Ward," Lynn said with certainty. "We must immediately take these drugs back for testing to see if we can find any clues about Ward."
The two quickly collected the drugs, preparing to leave the scene. However, just then, they suddenly heard rapid footsteps. Turning around, they saw a group of gang members rushing towards them.
"Run!" Lynn shouted, pulling Hans and rushing forward. The two weaved through the complex environment of the port, trying to shake off the gang members' pursuit. However, the gang members pursued relentlessly, seemingly determined to get their hands on the drugs.
During the escape, Lynn and Hans continuously used the port's obstacles for cover and counterattack. They coordinated their actions seamlessly, successfully repelling several gang members. However, as the number of gang members steadily increased, their situation became increasingly dangerous.
"We need to find a way to break through!" Lynn shouted. He looked around and saw a cargo ship loading and unloading goods nearby. "Let's run that way!" he yelled, pointing in the direction of the cargo ship.
The two quickly ran towards the cargo ship, continuously firing at the gang members behind them. In the intense chase, they successfully jumped onto the cargo ship and hid inside the cabin.
By the time the gang members reached the ship's edge, it was too late; they could only watch them escape. Lynnand Hans, panting in the cabin, exchanged a smile.
"We need to contact headquarters for support immediately," Lynn said, pulling out his phone and starting to dial.
Soon after, the police arrived at the scene, arrested all remaining gang members, and conducted a detailed investigation and evidence collection. Lynn and Hans, meanwhile, took the new drugs back to FBI Headquartersfor further testing and analysis, hoping to find clues about Ward and bring him to justice.
Although this sudden Fire incident was extremely dangerous, it also strengthened their determination and belief in fighting crime.
Back at FBI Headquarters, the two immediately handed the drugs over to the lab for analysis. They waited anxiously for the results in the office, discussing their next course of action.
Soon after, the test results came out: these new drugs were indeed similar in composition to the drugs Ward had previously developed!
This meant that Ward might still be continuing his illegal activities and had even expanded his scale! This discovery shocked the two, and at the same time, it strengthened their resolve to pursue Ward. "We must find Ward as soon as possible and bring him to justice!" Lynn said, clenching his fists. "This time, we cannot let him escape again!"
