Chapter 144 - am loosing him

As Lucy knelt on the floor, the sound of shattering glass still echoing in her ears, she felt a cold emptiness wash over her.

The words Leo had spoken cut deeper than any knife could, and she couldn't help but wonder if she had lost him forever.

The silence that followed was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of her own ragged breathing.

Lucy slowly got to her feet, her eyes fixed on the door through which Leo had disappeared.

She took a step forward, then another, as if drawn by an invisible thread.

But with each step, the weight of her regret grew heavier. She remembered the day she had left Leo, the pain in his eyes, the desperation in his voice.

She had told herself it was for her career, for her future, but now she wondered if it had all been worth it.

As she reached the door, Lucy hesitated. Should she follow him, try to make him listen? Or should she respect his wishes and leave? The uncertainty paralyzed her, and she stood there, frozen in indecision.

Meanwhile, Leo walked out into the night, the cool air a welcome respite from the turmoil that had been brewing inside him.

He felt a sense of freedom, of release, as he walked away from the mansion, away from Lucy, and away from the memories that haunted him.

He saw Liam standing by the drivers door ready to take him to the airport .

But as he reached the car, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was running away. From Lucy, from his past, from himself.

The thought sent a pang of anger through him, and he slammed his fist on the roof of the car.

"Let's go," he growled to Liam, who was waiting by the driver's side door. "We leave now."he said as they both entered the car

As the car pulled away from the mansion, Lucy watched from the door, her heart heavy with sorrow.

She knew she had lost Leo's trust, and even his love. But she also knew she couldn't give up. She would find a way to make things right, to prove to Leo that she was willing to fight for them.

Lucy walked to the driveway, her feet carrying her towards the sound of the car engine roaring to leave.

She saw the sleek vehicle pull away from the mansion, its headlights casting an eerie glow on the dark asphalt.

Leo's face was set in a determined expression, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

As the car disappeared into the night, Lucy felt a pang of desperation. She couldn't let him go to Italy without her.

She ran back into the mansion, grabbing her phone and purse on the way. She dialed a number, her fingers flying across the keypad.

"Get a car ready," she barked into the phone. "I need to catch up to Leo."

Her driver, alert and efficient, replied, "Yes, ma'am. I'll have the car ready in two minutes."

Lucy paced back and forth in the driveway, her heart racing with anxiety.

She couldn't lose Leo again. Not now, not when she had finally realized what she truly wanted.

The car screeched to a halt in front of her, and Lucy leapt into the backseat. "Follow that car," she instructed her driver, pointing down the road.

The driver nodded and hit the gas, speeding after Leo's car. Lucy held on tight, her knuckles white with tension. Would she be able to catch up to him? And if she did, would he even listen?

As the cars sped through the night, the city lights blurring together in a kaleidoscope of color, Lucy felt her determination grow. She would make Leo listen. She would make him understand.

But as they approached the outskirts of the city, Lucy's driver suddenly slammed on the brakes. "Ma'am, I think they are already heading for the airport," he said

Lucy replied", follow him" And the driver nodded and did as he was told
