Just as Eva's finger loosen the trigger, she suddenly hesitated. Her eyes locked onto Leo's, and for a moment, it seemed like she was searching for something.
"Wait," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I need to know... why?"
Leo's expression was unreadable. "Why what?" he asked, his voice calm.
"Why are you doing this?" Eva asked, her voice laced with desperation. "Why didn't you killed me when you had the chance ?"
Leo's eyes never left hers. "Because I know the truth," he said. "And I don't kill with a full reason ."
Eva's eyes flashed with anger, but then she seemed to deflate. She lowered the gun, and Mira breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'm not going to hurt anyone else," Eva said, her voice barely above a whisper. "At least, not yet."
What did Eva's sudden change of heart mean? Was she truly willing to cooperate, or was this just another ploy? The tension was palpable as the standoff continued.
