I pressed the phone to my ear, suddenly awake despite the crick in my neck.
"Has a decision been made?"
"The committee would like to discuss its findings with you in person."
My stomach dropped. "Does that mean I'm allowed back?"
"I'm afraid I can't discuss the outcome over the phone, Han Jiwon-ssi. You're welcome to have legal representation present."
Legal representation. That sounded ominously official.
"Where should I report?"
"Main administrative building. Conference Room B. Twelve o'clock today."
"I'll be there."
The call ended.
I stared at the notebook beneath my hand. UNLABELED — FIRST COMPLETE DRAFT was written across the bottom of the page.
Right now, returning felt possible enough to frighten me.
I called Miran immediately.
"Han Jiwon-ssi. I was expecting to hear from you."
"Production wants me at the compound at noon. They wouldn't tell me the decision."
"Did they ask you to sign anything?"
"No. They said I could bring a lawyer."
