Attila, the Scourge of God, wielded a weapon known as the Sword of the War God, said to have been seized from the Roman god of war himself. Morpheus had some knowledge of this matter.
The so-called Roman war god was none other than the Greek god Ares. The sword in Attila's hands had been taken from Ares.
As for why this girl possessed Ares' sword, Morpheus felt the trembling of the Sword of Promised Victory in his own hand and immediately understood her identity.
No, even without the Sword of Promised Victory, simply by sensing the aura emanating from her... so strikingly similar to that of the Gigantes... Morpheus could instantly discern who she was.
She was Sefar!
She was the Velber 2 who, in the distant past, nearly annihilated human civilization and hastened the end of the Age of Gods. As for why this being had become a human, a Heroic Spirit, Morpheus could only marvel at the power of the Root.
It didn't matter if you were an alien; once you arrived on Earth and integrated into its environment, you'd obediently ascend to the Root and become a Heroic Spirit!
Sefar was like this, as were the Greek gods. Not a single one escaped!
"Speaking of which, it seems the Root rejected me…" Morpheus muttered under his breath, tightening his grip on the Sword of Promised Victory. Though it was a product of magecraft, it retained the properties of the Sword of Promised Victory... naturally, including its ability to counter enemies of humanity and civilization!
The Holy Grail had fused with Attila, filling her with immense magical energy. At this moment, Attila wouldn't vanish due to the death of a Master. Rather, she was a Servant brimming with colossal magical power... an absolutely top-tier Servant!
"I am a warrior of the Huns. Their great king. The destroyer of the world. De... stroy!"
She roared, as if a malfunctioning machine, seemingly capable only of repeating these words. With her words, immense magical energy surged from her, and in an instant, her Noble Phantasm was unleashed!
It was a city-destroying Noble Phantasm release!
"They say I am the punishment of God. They say I am the Scourge of God."
The instantaneous release of her Noble Phantasm unleashed a torrent of ferocious magical energy. Even Servants in distant locations sensed the anomaly.
"What is that?!" Mash exclaimed, gazing toward the horizon, her face etched with shock as she felt the overwhelming power.
"How can there be such an enormous surge of magical energy in that direction?" The former queen of Britain, who had just joined Mash and the others, couldn't help but voice her astonishment.
"Could it be Morpheus' doing?" Ritsuka Fujimaru asked quietly.
Hearing her, Boudica quickly interjected, "Is it a man dressed strangely, similar to you all? If it's him…" She glanced in that direction. "He did seem to head that way."
"That's a city-destroying Noble Phantasm being unleashed!" Olga Marie observed the massive magical fluctuations, her face tense with concern. "Are you saying Morpheus went there alone?"
"Yes, he left on his own. From the looks of it, he's gone to confront the mastermind by himself…" Mash said, gripping her weapon. "Senpai, we should hurry over too!"
At that moment, the erupting magical energy had exposed the enemy's position. As those tasked with correcting anomalies, they naturally had to rush to resolve the issue.
"This magical fluctuation is no small matter. You all need to be careful…" Romani, who had appeared at some point, began to speak but suddenly widened his eyes upon noticing something.
"Wait!"
Olga Marie had also spotted the issue and immediately said, "Be alert... there's a massive magical energy source approaching. It's not a Servant, but… are those wyverns?!"
Romani nodded. "Wyverns. It seems the immense magical energy has caused phantasmal species from another era to manifest…"
"You all handle the wyverns first to prevent a greater crisis. As for Morpheus, there's no need to worry for now. Even a city-destroying Noble Phantasm might not harm him," Olga Marie instructed, directing the group to focus on the wyverns for the time being.
Mash and the others had no objections. If they didn't deal with the wyverns first, even traveling to provide support would be troublesome, as the flying creatures could launch aerial assaults, severely hindering their speed.
…
Morpheus raised the Sword of Promised Victory, its blade gleaming with radiant light... a blade forged from countless converging beams. Scorching power erupted from the sword, colliding with the attack unleashed by Attila.
As expected, the magnificent palace crumbled into ruins under the clash of their assaults. The ferocious energy not only shattered the ground, creating a massive crater, but also spread outward, devastating everything in its vicinity and even piercing the skies, dispersing some of the clouds above.
The sunlight, previously obscured by dark clouds, shone down once more.
Attila seemed enraged that the man before her could block her attack. She raised her weapon again and charged at Morpheus with swift, powerful movements.
But how could Morpheus show weakness? He accelerated instantly, wielding the Sword of Promised Victory to meet her Sword of the War God head-on.
"Boom!"
No flashy techniques... just pure weapon collisions and physical combat. Their battle was primal, the simplest and most fundamental form of close-quarters fighting.
Then, the air itself was torn apart by the violent force, producing a sonic boom.
The ground shattered under the recoil, forming another massive crater.
A mere clash of weapons was enough to wreak havoc on the surrounding area.
And this battle continued... relentlessly continued. In just a fleeting moment, the two had exchanged over a dozen blows!
And it went on!
Unceasingly!
Seeing she couldn't gain the upper hand in close combat, despite her intelligence being severely diminished by the Holy Grail, rendering her almost robotic, Attila still retained instinctive combat experience. She abruptly quickened her attack speed, then delivered a fierce downward slash. The Sword of the War God erupted with immense power once more.
She was unleashing her Noble Phantasm again!
With the Holy Grail's power, she possessed the terrifying ability to unleash her Noble Phantasm at will. This time, her release combined with rapid melee strikes. A direct hit at point-blank range would undoubtedly reduce its target to ashes!
But Morpheus remained unfazed. The Sword of Promised Victory in his hand blazed with dazzling light. A torrent surged from the blade, transforming into a stream of radiance!
Like the breath of a dragon, the light burst from Morpheus' sword, colliding with the power of the Sword of the War God.
The forces from the Sword of Promised Victory and the Sword of the War God twisted against each other, neither yielding. This was a contest of Noble Phantasms... and of raw magical energy.
Then, an even greater power erupted from the Sword of Promised Victory!
Without needing to chant the Noble Phantasm's true name, Morpheus' magecraft unleashed its maximum potential in that moment!
The beam, initially emitted by one, suddenly surged, transforming into a colossal pillar of light capable of engulfing even the Gigantes.
This pillar completely swallowed Attila... not just her body, but her sword as well.
Everything was reduced to fundamental particles, magical energy included. The Servant's body disintegrated without even a chance to bleed.
Even Attila couldn't withstand the fully unleashed Sword of Promised Victory. This was only natural. Though Attila was Sefar, there was still a gap. One was a human, the other an alien lifeform; one was a core, the other a weapon of war... not on the same level.
Sefar could challenge the gods, but Attila could not. Even if they shared the same essence, their roles differed.
Of course, even this Attila was overwhelmingly powerful by human standards.
But for the gods, it wasn't enough. For Morpheus, it naturally wasn't enough either.
Thus, Attila vanished... slain under Morpheus' silent "Sword of Promised Victory."
Everything was resolved. The world began to collapse and reconstruct, returning to its proper timeline.
A spiritual transfer phenomenon appeared around Morpheus' body. He knew this was Chaldea, detecting the world's collapse, preparing to retrieve them.
But Morpheus wasn't in a hurry. He reached out and seized the Holy Grail that had fallen from Attila's body.
Taking it back would likely yield significant benefits.
Or perhaps, he could make a wish with the Holy Grail.
Even if it was a flawed version created by Lev, it still retained its wish-granting function. For instance, Gilles had used it to grant a wish, creating a body for Jeanne.
If handed to Da Vinci, it could likely produce something useful.
"Alright, time to head back. I can rest for a bit." Morpheus yawned, quietly awaiting the return to Chaldea.
…
The group was still frantically dealing with the wyverns in the sky. But after slaying a dozen or so, the remaining wyverns suddenly began to vanish one by one. Soon, even the wyvern corpses on the ground disappeared, as if it had all been a dream.
Then, the world trembled and began to collapse!
"Morpheus has resolved the issue there. The world is returning to normal... hurry back!" Romani shouted urgently.
Boudica stared into the distance, stunned. After a moment of silence, she said, "So why did we even come here?"
"To resolve the crisis and protect Human Order."
But this answer made Boudica roll her eyes.
"The problem is we've been busy fighting their forces this whole time… and now? Someone suddenly shows up and solves everything in one go. I feel like I came down from the Throne of Heroes just for a sightseeing trip…"
The more she spoke, the more shocked she became.
"That was a city-destroying Noble Phantasm release! Your companion not only came out unscathed but also killed the enemy. Just who is your friend?"
"Like us, an investigator," Ritsuka Fujimaru answered honestly. "But Morpheus is incredibly knowledgeable. It's no exaggeration to call him the greatest Magus."
"A Magus? You mean magus, right?" Boudica said, still struggling to accept that a lone human, without a Servant, had clashed with a city-destroying Noble Phantasm... and won!
Was this a human? Even among Servants, few possessed such strength. Yet a single human had not only gone there but resolved the greatest threat?
Regardless, success was success. Boudica and the others' bodies began to fade. They knew the world was sending them back; it was about to stabilize, no longer needing these anomalies.
Ritsuka Fujimaru and the others initiated the transfer at top speed. Upon returning to Chaldea, they saw Morpheus casually adjusting his clothes.
He looked utterly relaxed, even waving at the returning group. "You guys are a bit late!"
"Morpheus, you took care of everything on your own?!" Ritsuka Fujimaru asked hurriedly.
"Yeah, I thought it was too slow, so I just charged through. The soldiers couldn't touch me, so I mostly fought Servants," Morpheus nodded, standing and stretching with a lazy yawn, grinning at the command room above.
Up there, Olga Marie, seeing Morpheus smile at her, huffed and spoke into the microphone. "Go get a physical check-up first to ensure nothing's wrong. Once that's done, you're free to move."
She quickly added, "Morpheus, get your report sorted out. I want to see it by tonight at the latest!"
"What? My rest? Can't it wait until tomorrow?"
Olga Marie immediately retorted, "No way! You resolved everything single-handedly, so we need your intel now!"
She let out a smug chuckle, clearly pleased.
"Fine." Morpheus shrugged, pulling out the Holy Grail and tossing it to Ritsuka Fujimaru.
"For you."
"Huh?! You're giving me this?" Ritsuka Fujimaru stared at the Holy Grail in her hands, aware of its value and rarity. Morpheus was just handing it over? Didn't he want it?
"You and Mash take it to Da Vinci. She might come up with something brilliant to help you guys."
With that, Morpheus didn't linger, heading swiftly to his room... because he still had a report to write!
