Chapter 250 - TDP Chapter 249 Division of Labor and Cooperation

Besides the Genesis Engine activation device Zod had, there was another one on the cosmic battleship waiting above.

Zod couldn't spare a hand to activate the Genesis Engine right now, but the Kryptonians in the battleship above could.

Seeing that the Kryptonians were unable to advance further due to the delaying tactics of the Atlanteans and humans, Zod could only order the personnel on standby above to control the Genesis Engine and terraform Earth.

Zod and his group, on the other hand, would hold back any Earthlings who might try to stop them.

The Kryptonian spaceship, suspended in Earth's orbit, split into two in the sky.

One part headed straight for the Indian Ocean on the other side of Earth, while the other rushed towards Metropolis.

Heaven knows why Zod liked Metropolis so much; no matter the circumstances, in every parallel universe, he chose one of the Genesis Engine's locations to be there.

The Genesis Engine was about to activate, and Kevin had just stabilized himself with his trident.

He looked at the Kryptonian spaceship already heading towards Metropolis above, and Kevin suddenly whispered, "Kara, I don't care where you are or what you're doing right now, you must stop the engine from entering the city! Find a way to destroy it!!"

Kara wasn't on the battlefield, but Kevin was certain that with Kara's current sight and hearing, she could see what was happening on Kevin's side and hear what he was saying.

After saying this to Kara, who was still resting and recuperating somewhere unknown, Kevin finally looked up at Zod.

"And I... will deal with Zod here. Earth is counting on you, Supergirl."

As his voice fell, Kevin rotated his trident, gripping its handle tightly with both hands, pointing its tip upwards.

Layers of invisible ripples emanated from the trident as Kevin poured all his strength into manipulating the ocean to form a tsunami.

The sea surface churned, and the rising tsunami almost engulfed Karathen's body.

Just as the towering, thousand-meter-high wall of water was about to fall, it rolled back to both sides.

In the blink of an eye, a waterspout reaching straight to the sky appeared on the battlefield!

Kevin controlled the waterspout to impact the Kryptonian battleship above, coiling around it and throwing it high into the sky, preventing them from attacking the human army on the ground.

At the same time, he also manipulated a portion of the water, freezing it into ice, which fell like a dense downpour towards Zod!

"!!"

The formation of the ice spike rain was almost instantaneous.

Before Zod could do anything to Kevin, the ice spikes were already pelting down on him with a clatter!

Shielding his face with his hands, Zod endured the ice spikes flying out as swiftly as bullets.

Zod's battle suit was indeed very sturdy, easily able to withstand even machine gun bullets.

But even water can wear away stone, and no matter how sturdy a protective suit is, it has a limit.

Kevin's ice spikes were almost endless and imbued with magical power. After more than ten seconds of continuous striking, some cracks finally appeared on Zod's armor.

The cracks were not obvious at first, but soon, the fissures spread from tiny points to the gauntlets on both of Zod's hands.

As more and more ice spikes landed on them, Zod's gauntlets finally shattered!

Splash!

His hands were exposed to the air, and then struck by more ice spikes, blood flowing from the punctured areas.

Now!

Kevin keenly caught sight of the blood flowing from Zod's body.

His eyes suddenly lit up, and a blue light flashed in his pupils.

The blood on Zod's hands began to float in one direction, defying the laws of physics, then more and more blood floated, and more and more flowed.

Finally, the blood was like an uncontrollable faucet, spraying outwards!

Because of the force field isolation of Zod's battle suit, Kevin could only control the blood through the opening on his arm.

The efficiency was indeed very low, but even so, at this rate of flow, Zod would fall into a coma from excessive blood loss in less than a minute!

That's right, by continuously making Zod bleed, he would die in his un-enhanced state.

Kevin's goal was halfway achieved.

But at this critical moment, Kevin's body suddenly shook, and he, along with his trident, was embraced by someone and rapidly moved away from the battlefield he shared with Zod.

"!?"

Suddenly attacked, Kevin's eyes widened.

He looked down at his waist, only to see a pair of slender arms, encased in armor, tightly wrapped around him. Twisting his body to look behind him, it was Zod's female subordinate.

Kevin remembered her name was... Faora?

"Damn it—!"

Just as he was about to kill Zod, he was interrupted by Faora, and Kevin couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Although he knew it wouldn't be easy to kill Zod, having his original plan disrupted by an interference still made him feel annoyed.

However, he didn't have time to think about that now. Seeing Faora, who was holding him, reveal the same arm blades as Zod, Kevin grabbed her wrist with one hand.

His other hand, holding the trident, did not counterattack Faora, but instead pointed towards the sky.

Following Kevin's movement, in just a few seconds, the sky became overcast, blocking the sunlight pouring down from above.

Being interrupted by Faora wasn't a big deal.

The key was not to let Zod be exposed to sunlight.

Otherwise, with Zod's adaptability, in less than three seconds, he would gain the superpowers that Superman took more than ten years to adapt to.

At that point, Zod would be truly difficult to defeat.

Fortunately, the sunlight had already been blocked when the waves rose earlier, and now Kevin had covered the sky, so Zod had not been exposed to sunlight on Earth from beginning to end.

Once the sky was confirmed to be covered, Kevin stabilized himself with Faora, stopping on land far from the sea.

His trident plunged into the ground, and Kevin grabbed Faora's arm with one hand, saying coldly, "I have to say, you made the wrong decision. You shouldn't have interrupted my duel with him."

"Is that so?" Faora challenged, meeting Kevin's gaze without showing any weakness, "But I think your opponent should be me."

Their gazes collided in the air.

The next second, both of them suddenly moved simultaneously.

The blade on Faora's right fist swiftly thrust towards Kevin, while Kevin swung his trident, striking towards Faora's left abdomen.

Kevin was holding a long weapon, which normally should give him an advantage in this fight.

But Faora was playing close-quarters combat, and their bodies collided, temporarily unable to create distance, forcing them to attack with fists and feet.

However, this situation didn't last long.

Their strength was too immense; after only a few exchanges, they separated due to the powerful collision of their forces.

Shockwave spread out from the center of their collision, blowing crater-like indentations with fractured patterns into the soft ground.

Facing the flying Faora, Kevin did not immediately pursue her. Holding his trident, he cast water magic again.

But this time, he was not casting ice magic, but another variation of water magic.

Mist.

In an instant, a dense Mist covered the battlefield between him and Faora.

...

The Genesis Engine flew towards Metropolis at an extremely fast speed.

Kara, who had changed into her battle suit and was floating above the clouds, basking in the sun, watched the Genesis Engine flying towards Metropolis. After a slight hesitation, she rapidly approached the Genesis Engine.

The Genesis Engine itself was a spaceship, a piece of Kryptonian lost technology that the Kryptonians found on other planets.

When it released energy, it could simulate the Kryptonian environment and transform a planet into a place similar to Krypton.

In other words, if the Genesis Engine activated and Kara got too close, she would temporarily lose her superpowers due to the Kryptonian-like environment.

However, the Genesis Engine had not yet activated.

It was merely flying towards its destination.

"This is your chance, Kara."

Kara recalled Kevin's instructions before he left: "I will try my best to stop the Genesis Engine from activating, but I imagine Zod wouldn't put the activation method of the Genesis Engine solely on himself.

"So, if we fail and don't stop the Genesis Engine, that's when you come in. You need to destroy it as quickly as possible before the Genesis Engine activates, and then..."

Kevin paused there, and Kara cooperatively asked, "I'll help you guys?"

Since the Genesis Engine would be destroyed, Kara's mission would be complete, and she would be free to choose whether to participate in the battle or do something else.

But Kevin shook his head.

"No, you also need to destroy another Genesis Engine."

"..."

"Zod's Genesis Engine is divided into two parts; together, they form the spaceship currently in outer space. Once the Genesis Engine activates, the spaceship will separate again.

"So, destroying only one side will only prevent the risk of Earth being terraformed. There's another side that's destroying the environment on the other side of Earth. To stop all of this, both Genesis Engines must be destroyed simultaneously."

"So, you asked for my help, but you didn't actually want me to help you fight Zod; you just wanted me to help you destroy the Genesis Engine."

"Isn't that obvious?"

Kevin said to Kara with a smile.

Kara's recollection ended there.

Her eyes reflected the Kryptonian spaceship flying towards Metropolis, and her mind was racing.

Destroying the spaceship in front of her meant eliminating the Kryptonians still inside.

They were Kara's people, and unlike Kal, who had lived on Earth since childhood, Kara had lived on Krypton at least from her infancy to her teenage years.

Her feelings for Krypton and her people surpassed those of Superman, who was already considered an Earthling.

Therefore, personally slaughtering her own people made Kara feel heavy-hearted.

However...

Thinking of Kevin and the others who rescued her, as well as the billions of lives on Earth, Kara cast aside her hesitation.

Earthlings had done terrible things to Kara, and Kara didn't particularly like Earthlings.

But Earth wasn't just inhabited by Earthlings.

That day, while sunbathing, Kevin, whether intentionally or not, specifically showed Kara many images and photos of animals.

Pets like cats, dogs, and hamsters, and fierce beasts like lions, tigers, and bears running in the wild.

Diverse ecosystems made up the entirety of Earth.

Kara didn't like humans and didn't know much about Atlanteans, but she did like fluffy things.

Humans and Atlanteans, Kara didn't care about their lives or deaths.

But they weren't the only ones on Earth.

The combined number of various organisms was far greater than the number of Earthlings!

It's not for humans; it's for the entire Earth.

If Kara thought this way, she would feel much better.

Regaining her composure, white Mist indicative of breaking the sound barrier appeared around Kara. Her speed increased again, and she rapidly flew towards the Genesis Engine.

And after approaching the Genesis Engine, her eyes shot out crimson beams of light towards the distant spaceship carrying the Genesis Engine!
