But this was obviously not ordinary acid rain.
Within the dark green cloud mass, something began to condense—and then fall!
They were ugly creatures about half a person tall, as if made of damp rock and dark green slime. They had bat-like wings, lizard-like tails, and a pair of eyes flashing with cruel red light. Screeching, they dropped from the clouds like dumplings. The moment they hit the ground or buildings, they began using claws and fangs to rampage and destroy everything in sight!
"Monsters!"
"Run!"
"Call the police! Call the Hero Association!"
The street instantly plunged into even greater chaos. These monsters called "gargoyles" weren't weak—they could easily flip cars, tear open walls with their claws, and launch indiscriminate attacks on panicked civilians.
Piercing alarms blared across the city. Before long, several figures arrived at the scene at high speed.
"Everyone! Evacuate to the underground shelters! Move!" A figure in a star-spangled uniform holding a shield shouted orders—it was Captain America. His shield flew with pinpoint accuracy, smashing a gargoyle that was about to pounce on an elderly man and sending it flying.
On the other side, webbing shot out. A red-and-blue figure swung nimbly between skyscrapers and kicked a gargoyle away. "Wow, these guys are really ugly! What—did they crawl out of some medieval castle?" Spider-Man, quipped while slapping several gargoyles onto a wall with webbing.
"Friday, analyze their composition and weaknesses." Iron Man, streaked through the sky in his newest armor. Repulsor blasts fired repeatedly from his palms, shattering airborne gargoyles into chunks of stone and splattering slime.
More pro heroes and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents arrived one after another, joining the fight—evacuating people, holding the line, and battling the gargoyles. There were a lot of them. Individually they weren't top-tier, but they were fearless, and their bodily fluids were corrosive, making them a real pain to handle.
Saitama stood in the center of the gradually emptying street as the dark green, eerie rain dripped onto him. A few gargoyles spotted him as a "target," screeched, and lunged.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Simple straight punches and hooks. Every gargoyle that rushed him without exception exploded into fragments midair, dark green slime and shattered stone spraying everywhere.
"So weak…" Saitama looked at his fist, like he hadn't even warmed up. Compared to those shadow tentacles in Asgard, these things were nowhere close—let alone the Shadow Realm Lord. He glanced around and saw the heroes still seemed able to handle things, so he started wondering if he should just go check the supermarket first—what if it closed early because of this weird rain?

Right then, the dark green cloud mass in the sky suddenly churned violently, forming a vortex at its center. A stronger energy fluctuation poured out. Immediately after, a gargoyle leader—far larger than the rest, nearly three people tall, with even broader wings and dark-gold patterns covering its body—descended slowly. It let out an ear-splitting roar, and the soundwave alone shattered nearby glass windows into pieces!
"High-energy target detected!" a warning blared inside Iron Man's armor.
"The big guy's here—0.2!" Spider-Man dodged the soundwave impact and called out.
Captain America raised his shield to protect the people behind him, his expression grim. "We have to stop it!"
The gargoyle leader's crimson eyes swept the battlefield and immediately locked onto the area packed with the most heroes—especially Iron Man and Captain America. With a single beat of its wings, its massive body shot down at a speed that defied physics. Its claws shrieked as they tore through the air, slashing toward Captain America!
